WW, ROR, Ritz, Duffman, Finsleft, Mr. shoes,

Thanks for your comments and the insight, well stated in most cases.  I am glad you have such allegiance to your alma mater, as well as their fb team.

My only comment is to Fins (not a shot just a reply), I do know many sju grads and most, if not all, are pretty apathetic about sju fb and a couple of them played for Gags, a few played hoops at sju, so I guess that is what I am basing some of my perspective on.  They obvioulsy don't share your passion for the johns and that is why I am always amazed at yours.  I certainly respect people who are passionate about something.  Dosen't mean I will always understand the basis for it.

I figured lowering myself to make comments like bus driver, calling him an asshole and all, that I'd get the boot!  Really don't have anything to share anyway from so far away, just was wondering what people thought of Bethel being a pretty good 4-4 team?  I just don't think the record shows how good they are, that's all, and again, it's from my point of view!!

Some Bobblehead on the WIAC board just posted that if Stout was in the MIAC, they would "consistently be first or second every year"

Doesn't that put Northwestern in the middle of the WIAC, too?  ???

I'm not sure its quite as outlandish as saying that Concordia-Moorhead has been ranked in the top ten year in and year out.

Man, those WAIC dwellers were just itching for a fight.  A couple of posts that mention the conference in neutral terms and they're over here baiting for a tussle.

Well, Ok, then.  But before we get to far in to  the sludge, I wish the WAIC guys could answer just one question: If one of their cellar-dwellers did play a season in the MIAC and actually won the conference, do you think that would mean they could improve their post season winning percentage from .300?

There.  Bait nibbled.

Mr.Shoes

No disrespect Oz, but I couldn't believe that their winning percentage could only be .300. Logically, I went to the home page to check and see just what it is. Wouldn't you know it? .300 it is. A nice robust 3-7. Quality.
Nice day, huh?

WSU, since 1960 (even though your sig line mentions the cigar bowl of 1950), SJU has won 2 NAIA championships and 2 NCAA D-3 championships.  Concordia has won 1 outright NAIA title and two co-NAIA titles in football, including the 1963-1965 where it was SJU-CORD-SJU winning NAIA titles in successive years. That's 7 national titles between just SJU and Concordia.

In that same span, UWL has won its 2 NCAA D-3 championships and 1 NAIA championship, and nobody else in the WIAC has won any football championships (though we were reminded how "close" UWEC was to the Stagg Bowl in 1998, but SJU was a bit "closer" to an actual Stagg Bowl victory in 2000).

Sure, Concordia has been down during the late 90s and early 00s, but thinking MIAC long term, they've been there more than the WIAC.

I'm on board the Cobber wagon-- go Cobbs!

Oz, sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm not itching for anything. I was merely pointing out the outlandish nature of the comments. I highly doubt Stout would finish 1 or 2 every year in the MIAC. Just the same, Concordia isn't a perennial top 10 team every season.

johnnierocks (that's too close to John Rocker by the way)  It's TASER.

Also, on the brighter side, reading the names on the Student Senate list made me think I was reading a list from 35+ years ago. So many of the same names appear - which,  in a note to knights, is another reason the SJU experience is so much a part of those of us who went there.

knights,
I can only speak for myself but I can assure you that I have always had allegiance for my alma mater. Since I live a long ways from Collegeville it is only recently that I have been able to express it. Until Pat & d3football came along I could only be vaguely "aware" of what ANY DIII football team was doing. With 16 million hits coming up, I can only quess that a lot of has beens and never weres have been reunited with their alma mater through this site -- and it's only a game -- isn't that terrific?

Ok, WSUFan, bait spat back up.  No need for a tussle.

In defense of Cord (again, who woulda thunk I ever write those words?), I think they are a power on the rise.  Their tradition and program are picking up strength and look sustainable - and has been top 10 in recent years.  They have demonstrated some good consistency the last four years and all the Cobbers trust it will continue (who can blame them for being enthustiastic in their support?).

I think Johnnie fans might be excited about the prospect of a CC powerhouse because it will give a great in season marker to team strength and increases the pressure for good performances.  Gotta be great to win the MIAC.  Booya!

WSU fan--Excluding the 2000 season, Stout has been in the middle of the WIAC pack in 1999, 2001-2005.  So how can you say that they would compete with the MIAC greats.  Johnny esq gave you quite a history lesson(thank you for that) about how CC and St. J's have won 7 chippers together and Lacrosse has 3 and Stout has none, which also equals 0 (ZERO) aka=GOOSE EGG.  Plus you have your own board of guys to talk about UW-Platteville and River Falls(which we scrimmaged before the season and absolutely dominated them.  In fact its what the johnnie fans like to call a MONKEY STOMP haha) this is a championship board only, won't be seeing you in the playoffs.  Thats all I got.

Oh damn! Did ya have to bring that subject up when I decided to check out your board. The Wildcats have three NAIA championships and one D3 championship but damn again. Were 0-3 against the Johnnies and 0-1 against the cobbers.
Now I won't sleep tonight. COL

I'm not sure if eveyone on the board is aware of this but the St. Olaf - Cord game is one of the few rivalries in our league involving a traveling trophy. The traveling Troll is a foot and half tall mangled mess covered in moss holding some kind of a sword and shield. I'm not sure how long it has been going back and forth but it is currently sitting in Terry Horan's office where it will stay for at least another year after Saturday.

The St. Olaf - Cord game is also referred to as "The Lefse Bowl." Last year, Concordia Chaplain Ernie Mancini, a St. Olaf alumnus, brought a van-load of lefse out to the practice on Tuesday before the game. I think it lead directly to our 50-7 triple monkey stomp last year.
