Not sure what Hooters Colleen Barry went to, but I never got drugs at a Hooters!

Kilted Rat: I think Colleen must be going old school 70's & 80's. To that I have to say, "I know (knew) Moby Dick's & Ms. Barry,Hooters is no Moby Dick's"
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

With all the talk about 3 IIAC teams getting into the playoffs with one loss a piece and CC wins out with one loss to #3 St. John's, who do you think deserves the playoff spot.  The IIAC teams or CC?  Any thoughts?

The IIAC is competitive with Wburg, Coe, and Central.  Wburg has a loss to a team(Milikin) and they are 4-4 (1-4) in the conference.  Coe and Central Share the conference lead, but Central plays at Wburg this week.  Should be an interesting shake up in the IIAC.  Thats all I got.

Gotta put in a plug for sfury's book, Keeping the Faith. I won't post my review here, but here's

. I started a thread on the general board. Finished it the other day and it's a solid bit of reporting and nicely written -- a fun read.

cobbernation - No, no hard feelings at all. I don't know who made the Stout comment, but it was, as you put it bobbleheaded.

ritz72 - Yeah, it was '93 for Schroeder and I remember it, I was a freshman that year. Funny how 30 catches and 571 yards parlayed into a somewhat decent NFL career for a few years.

Cobbnation,

I already stated my thoughts that if CC wins out and has their only loss be on a last minute TD to the #3 ranked team in the nation, putting in a 2nd or even 3rd IIAC team would be ridiculous.

Central (7-1) lost to Coe already, Coe (7-1) lost to Wartburg,  Wartburg(6-2) lost to Millikin (4-4) and Luther (5-4).

If Central beats Wartburg this weekend, they win the IIAC, Wartburg wins the IIAC if they win... I think.

I don't care about quality of wins or any other statistical crap, a team that loses only one game to a perennial power who finishes undefeated should not get snubbed from the playoffs in favor of a team with 2 losses or even a team with one loss who lost to another team with any losses....

This is too much thinking, I'm going to bed.

CC will win out and will get in.  Rightfully so,  as I think SJU and CC have shown they are a cut above most D-3 teams.  What if SJU had not completed that last second pass?  Is there any way they don't make the field 32?  Why should CC be any different?

They make the field and make it interesting in the first round.

So why is it, do you think, that the NCAA has delayed the West and  South rankings this week?  Because South has maybe 11 teams that could be ranked?  And the QOW would put Linfield behind both WW and SJU?

Maybe they are having difficulty figuring how to reconcile their reasoning with the published guidelines.

I'll echo the frustration of many of the WIAC schools on Cord's behalf, and wonder why beating a D-2 squad means nothing.

If/After they beat STO, they'll be fine.

On the rankings, I'll bet it could be something as simple as a technical mixup on the NCAA's part.  But you'd think they'd check to be sure...

"I'd be interested to hear from LAB how/if Auggie's O line schemed to try to slow Dumo down. He has got to be a factor in an Offensive game plan! "

Honestly, we didn't do anything different with Dumo.  Had we done so, the other three plus a couple of LB's probably would have taken my spleen as a souvenir.  Maybe we should have but that front 4 (really 7) is so good, if you concentrate on one guy, the rest will beat you.

My thoughts on tomorrows game:  Hey we play in the dome.  I mean what a perfect environment for College football.......  Er, wait.  I mean, 3 in the afternoon on a Friday?  I know that we at Auggie are an inner city school, but 3 pm on a friday- isn't that usually reserved for the Mpls public HS games to avoid gun play?  Or, maybe we we so concerned about that Bethel crowd and the violence that they are so well known for.

Besides that, I'll comment further when the game is over.  Good luck to all this weekend. Stay healthy.

Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

Iowa Conference Here,

Regarding the pairings, don't worry you'll have two.  I think most of us here in the Midwest will stay here for the first round if at all possible.  I know the NCAA does not like to fly teams in the first round but may have to.   The west coast teams will probably be forced to play each other unless there are three of them then one of them will be making the flight.  Here's the bracket as projected by D3 Football.  It is incorrect as they state and probably will have the MN league runner-up in there to replace Central, Wartburg or Coe depending on how things play out.  The IIAC will not get three teams in.  Your league will definitely have two.

Linfield Bracket
1. Linfield
2. St. John's
3. Occidental
4. Coe
5. Monmouth
6. Whitworth
7. Central
8. Wartburg

As you can see UWW has been shipped to a different region which is a high probability.   Here are the probable matchups:

1 - Two of the three west coast teams will play each other with Linfield as the host.

2 - The other west coast team will most likely be shipped to the Midwest

3 - Based on the teams forecasted to make the playoffs you can count on seedings by economics. One half of the bracket will have St Johns and three other Midwest teams.  The lone team left out will be the one that plays the west coast team and then the winner facing Linfield.  You know they are wanting to get a St Johns/Linfield match-up in the third round.

The way we see it is, (other than Linfield and St Johns the favorites), that Coe or Concordia would be the toughest draws........they are both still stinging from close losses to their arch rivals.  Coe only lost to Wartburg by 3 in which they played terrible and still almost won.  Central lost to Coe by 3 at Pella in Week 3 or 4.
Good luck!

This is kind of weird and a bit out there, however.... any chance Mount Union could end up playing in Collegeville in a couple 2,3 rounds?

Touchdown Tommy

DSJU,

Well of course Mighty MUCk could make the trip to Cville after the Johnnies knock off the Cats in McMinnville in the West Region Final.  We could see a battle royale on Dec. 10 in Cville if the stars align and the NCAA committee obliges.  SJU will surely be ranked higher than MUCk this year so if the North and West match up in the Semis I believe the Js would host.
