So i'm looking for some help guys...coming in town for the Coe game and need a good watering hole friday night, and then pregame.  any suggestions?

btw...should be a great game, from what i can tell.  Coe has a fairly balanced offense that surrounds a few key players...Suckow is a big threat (RB/split) as well as Ashton Northern at RB.  They mix it up on offense but for the most part pass the ball...even short down situations.  As long as they don't turn the ball over, they play pretty well.

Looking forward to Saturday...thanks in advance for your help!

(ps...i'm driving from Minneapolis...how long from the airport?)

Kilted Rat

IABeaver,
No clue on watering hold, there is a Hooters just across the border into North Dakota.

Here's the google map, looks like 247 miles. 70 MPH once you get out of Minneapolis... 80 is easily doable without any fears, so the 4 hour estimate is probably high unless you hit traffic on 494.

Bring good music, the drive can be pretty long and monotonous. For a good break on your trip, take exit 156 to SJU and check out the place, especially the field and the lakes!

I'd say 3.5 hours, more if it's during a high-traffic time.  As far as a watering hole, when I went to the CC/SJU game, Mick's Office was the place to be.  Good food and cheap beer ($3.50 pitchers on Saturday).  Close to the stadium, too.  I'm not familiar with the area otherwise.  I'm sure some Cobbers will pitch in.

Mr.Shoes

TC and I partied in downtown Fargo the night after that SJU/CC game, but I doubt you want to wander across the river if you don't have to. That said, while Old Broadway definitely wasn't the most fun we had all night, it seemed like a pretty nice place to hang out--not if you want to have some good-natured DIII banter, though. I have a hunch that Cobbers stay a good distance from that place.

I'll echo Kilted's comments about the music and the drive. The last 50 miles are the worst, as the hills and trees quickly disappear and give way to the amazingly flat Red River valley. And yes, SJU is a great place to stop on the way west. Just think, if things go well for Coe, you could be making the trip up I94 a second time. ;)
Nice day, huh?

Just perusing the conference stats, one thing stuck out at me.  Hamline lead the conference by far in turnover margin (+20 compared to second place at +9) yet finished 8th in the conference.  That's a little weird.  I guess you have to be good at something.

8 of those TO's came in one game to Concordia. Still leaves them in first but not by a ton.  Good Defense....horrible offense.

I don't know about "good defense."  Mediocre at best.

MCGramps97

Hello the the MIAC posters.
i am a former Fight Scots player from 2001 and wanted to stop by to say good luck to the Johnnies this weekend. I'll be honest, i didnt know a lot about your program, but i checked out the website and i am very impressed. i love the fact that the head coach started coaching at the age of 16 for his h.s. fb team when his coach got drafted. unreal. well i'm just hoping for a great/clean game by both sides. MC is a lot of fun to watch so i hope you guys get to experience what we are so excited about. Good luck to both teams.

Good luck Johnnies hope to see you and your "red army" of fans down in Warhawk country in two weeks.  And "if" it is a UWW SJU match up heres to a long and miserable drive home for you guys after the game.  ( had to post... got johnnie posters all over the WIAC board)

kubiack78

And let me guess the johnnies are squeaky clean right??

Anyone notice the coach of Monmouth is a graduate of Bemidji State, at least he gets to lose in a familiar State. :D

DuffMan

1) Mighty Royal is a Bethel poster.

2) I played last time UWW and SJU met up.  I hope the Warhawks have gained some class since then.

Wasn't that UWW's plan in 2003? Worked like a charm!

Can we still get together and drink Hamm's every Saturday until 12/17?

Touchdown Tommy

I like you 78.  I think SJU should be given a bye into the Stagg Bowl this season.
