Frank, are you going to be at Bock Fest?

I will be there in full force...dragging a couple gusties with me too.  You attending?  Anyone else going to attend the festivities?
Heaven isn't too far away,
Closer to it every day

I'll be there.  We've got a bus loaded up for the trek.

What?

OAS, I enjoyed the article as well. Hope he can bring Mac back to the MIAC so we don't have to waste our time with those cheeseheads ;)
I guess getting your butt kicked is a waste of time.

I think we've held our own against the WIAC.  We've doled out our share of butt-kickings.  UWW just had a better team this year.

Touchdown Tommy

Duffman,

I have to admit it.  UWW was head and shoulders above SJU this year and they lose nearly nothing off this team.  I hope they take at least one loss in conference or else the Johnnies will be making a return trip to Whitewater for the West Region Final.

Re: Bockfest

Can we get some details on this event?  It sounds like a TDT endorsed type of event from the sounds of things.  I have heard about the hot poker they stick in your Schell's to carmelize it, but is there brats/hot dogs/burgers etc?  Duffy, have you and wooderson rented a short bus to transport you around that day/evening?  3000 sure isn't much, tell the fire chief where to go!

I guess getting your butt kicked is a waste of time.

Brief history lesson for you flash in the pan:

Here are SJU's records against WIAC teams:

UWEC 5-4 including 2 out of the last 3 and that one loss being by 2pts on a failed 2-pt conversion late in the game.
UWLAX 5-1
UWRF 2-1
UW SP 2-0
UW Stout 2-0
UW Superior 2-1
UWW 1-1

Combined total: 19-8 all time against the WIAC.

And St. Norberts is in Wisconsin 2-1

21-9 all time against Wisconsin teams... we're really getting our butts kicked.

Of course you're thinking how many of those were ancient history back before Gags turned 60... Here are the records since 1999:

SNC 2-0
UWEC 4-3
UWSP 2-0
UW Stout 1-0
UWW 1-1

SJU is 10-4 against Wisconsin teams since 1999... again, we're really getting our butts kicked.

What would be your other excuse... SJU played the weakest WIAC teams?

Both wins against St. Norbert's since 1999 were in the playoffs
Both wins against UWSP since 1999 were in the playoffs
2000 win at Stout was in the playoffs

Yes, UWW ended SJU's season last year, but SJU has ended the seasons for 5 Wisconsin teams since 1999. I'll give you that ratio for the rest of my life!

Ok, ok--I conceed, but I can't give much credit for the Norbert wins, they really suck, the rest were good wins for you guys. But hey, we drink more beer per person in Wisconsin!

... and MN has better ACT, SAT, GRE, and MCAT scores as well as a greater average income. Plus I'm sure if beer consumed was calculated on a per lb basis, MN would still be ahead.

Nothing against WI... I was born there and most of my relatives still live there, but in my experience, MN people are smarter on the whole and generally smaller around the waistline.

Come to a Stiftungfestivity some time, I'd be willing to bet to a man that SJU fans (especially if Duffman, Frank, Veek, Zip and myself are there) will out drink you and whomever you bring along.

Johnnie Red

Touchdown Tommy, the BockFest is on the grounds of the Schell's Brewery in New Ulm. Very scenic area. There is plenty of food you can buy. There is also a polka band that plays outside all afternoon to really get you into the beer drinking mood.

There are some very historic buildings on the grounds that you can tour. I'm not sure if they have tours of the brewery during the Fest. They also have a medallion search for various prizes that are given away.

As Johnniepress can tell you, New Ulm is a great town to party in. I first got introducted to the city when I was a sophomore at SJU and had some Johnnie friends who invited me down for a weekend in the summer for the festival. This was the predecessor to the Heritagefest, which I understand now is no longer going to be held. There is also the Octoberfest, which is two weekends in the fall.
