Congrats to Kurt Ramler and Carleton! I have a co-worker that went to Carleton (all the way out her in Oregon, what are the odds!!) and when I told him that the Knights had just hired a Johnnie, his response was that he hoped Kurt could adjust. It might be difficult coming from a team that fields more player than Carleton has fans. Sad but true! :( Hopefully Kurt can rally some fan support/interest for the team!

In 2004 Carleton's total home attendance for 6 games was 4350 - on a per home game basis 200th out of 227 DIII colleges. St. John's  was 46,911 for 6 games - first in DIII on a per home game basis.

What would be fun to see is Carleton's attendance the past decade vs. SJU 2005...or midget mud wrestling - either or.

Just a note on attendance at Carleton, although they still don't get a ton of fans, they don't charge admission to the games so I'm not really sure how they come up with those stats, I don't think they had someone counting.  Also, there has been an increase in fan support over the last few years, I think not going 0 - fer has a little something to do with it.

From what I've heard and seen so far on Mr. Ramler, he seems like he will be a good fit for the school, which was one of the big factors that Carleton was looking at.  Carleton posted a press conference with him on there website here:

CCKnight, have you met Kurt personally yet?  Are you going to be involved with the Knights this year?

In honor of my PP brethren, who will either be drinking at the hoops party, or drinking the town of New Ulm dry, here's my joke of the day:

At a world brewing convention in the States, the CEOs of various brewing organizations retired to the bar at the end of each day's conference.
Bruce, CEO of Fosters, shouted to the Barman: "In 'Strylya, we make the best bloody beer in the world, so pour me a bloody Fosters, mate."
Augie, CEO of Budweiser, calls out next: "In the States, we brew the finest beers of the world, and I make the King of them all, gimme a Bud."
Hans steps up next: "In Germany ve invented das beer, ferdamt. Give me ein Becks, ist der real King of beers, danke." Paddy, CEO of Guinness, steps forward: "Barman, would ya give me a diet coke with ice and lemon? Tanks."
The others stare at him in stunned silence, amazement written all over their faces.
Eventually Bruce asks: "Are you not going to have a Guinness, Pat?"
Paddy replies "Well, if you fookin' pansies aren't drinkin', then neither am I.

Duff,
I have not had the chance to meet Kurt yet, I think he had to go back to Ohio to tie things up there.  As to whether I'll be involved with Carleton this year, I'm not sure yet as it can be quite the time commitment getting down to Northfield from the Minneapolis for practice while still working a full time job, not to mention the price of gas.  I think at some point in the future I'll try to get down there and meet Kurt, and if they need some help I'll definately consider it.

I heard TDT was drinking Michelob Ultra yesterday.

Congratulations to the USA Men's Curling team for bringing home the bronze...the first Olympic Curling medal of anykind for the USA.

Speaking of 3rd place - do the Oles have a lot coming back next year to make any kind of noise?

Maroon&Gold - who will the Cobbs play at QB next year with the departure of Schumacher?

Time to go eat lunch and read Shooter's column

Whoa Nelly - STO's Wilsey, of pink shirt, popped collar fame, will be taking his trendy fashions into the working world. The bulk of the team returns though and a former Mayo Spartan great may be taking over the reins for Miedt.

Is TDT looking for a roomie? I'm sure they could pink up some hot dudes down on the Florida beach together...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Nelly you gotta make sure you keep posting regularly, I need this humor.

As far as I know (from my brother and other Cobbs) it looks like Rodel, another BOLD connection, will be taking the reins next year. Word has it he resembles a former Brecknridge Cowboy QB from the late 90's
RB George Rogers, about the upcoming season:
"I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first."
