Speaking of...  Why is it that only the Catholics can nominate saints??  Call me ignorant, but are there Lutheran saints?

What about St. Olaf?  ;)

Just got word that TDT posted bail, got safely out of Dade County and made it back to West Fla.

tmerton, nice to see the picture of Knute Rockne. I had the privilege to taking my son to see Notre Dame play Ohio State in South Bend in `96. Both teams were ranked in the top five at the time. What a great experience that was! The college football hall of fame is a must see for anyone who loves college football.

That was not one of the better games for Lou/ND.  In fact, they haven't played tOSU close since 1935 (though that's only 3 games); Meatchicken is easier prey.  Still, the game day atmosphere is pretty good, win or lose.

I'm sure everbody has read a ton of stuff on Kirby the past 24 hours. This editorial from Scott Miller, former PP beat writer for the Twins is worth your time.

I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

Rather strange experience at the community center pool this morning. I walk in to do a swim workout and see this huge beaver floating in the pool. At first I thought I was hallucinating. Since I didn't do any meth or adult beverages last night, I knew that wasn't the case. Then I thought I might still be in bed dreaming that I was on campus at Wisconsin-Whitewater. I pinched myself and knew that was not the case.

The young lifeguard asked me to help get the beaver out of the pool. It was a huge plastic replica. I suppose I should be thankful I got to hold the beaver first thing in the morning. One more reason Chaska is such a special place.  ;)

I don't know much about Chaska, but growing up in Ohio, we were always working to get beaver into our pools, and we definitely never tried to get it out once it was there!

Best part about it is there's no cover for bands in the winter.  Still spent way too much time/money there this weekend.  Talented no-name band filled the place and the bud light was flowing like wine

Lone Auggie Backer

I spent a friday night at Melvin's the day before a buddy's wedding on Saturday with a couple other friends that would also be attending the wedding.  We had arrived late from the TC's, and being that we all had Nextels, which don't work out there (at least not at that time), we went to Melvin's to meet the others but didn't know exactly where to meet our friends that were already there.  Well, it was the first time there for all of us.  We spent the whole time in the "front" bar.  The indoor room where they set up the Karaoke machine/stand.   It was a VERY nice summer night, that Friday, and the only people that were in the inside bar were housewives smoking Newports.  We didn't understand why.  We had heard that that was the great hang-out place, but that friday night there were no "kids" there.  I watched a couple of my 24-25 year old buddies make out with 45-55 year olds, and then we went back to the hotel.  The next night, after the wedding reception wound down, a bunch of the "locals" (the bride was from the Spicer area) decided to go back to Melvin's.  Being that we were in desperate need of more booze (when aren't we in desperate need of more booze) we decided to go with them.  Well, it was then that we learned that there was a HUGE patio out back, and another room with another GREAT bar.  Both the outside patio and the other "back" bar had some very nice "Scenery" and, being that it was yet another nice night, many of the "Sceneries" were wearing outfits showing off their "Great Personalities."  If only we had known about the full size of Melvin's that Friday night.  Yes, to all that haven't been there, I would highly recommend Melvin's.  Just make sure you walk around the whole place.  There's more than just one room!

Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

Yet another victim of the Spicer beaver...
