Touchdown Tommy

Johnnie Red: I spoke with my arch-nemesis Willy Wonka last night and he appears very excited about the upcoming wrestling matches on 9-2 at the inaugural Stiftungsfestivities.  He also indicated that if you continue to talk smack about the Lutherans you may be dragged into the ring (ps: contrary to popular belief, TDT is not Jewish but in fact a Lutheran as well).

fins: Has the Pace Arrow been out for a test run yet this spring?  Seems to me that it is vital that it be running in tip-top shape as there is a big fall schedule of activities planned.

FYI: I just finished reading the book, Wrigleyworld, last night (excellent read especially if you are familiar with the scene in Wrigleyville each summer).  Some posters on here may have been extremely upset as your beloved Hamm's beer was ripped by the author.  Here is the exact quote:

"2. Old Style beer.  While this book is partly responsible for helping romanticize the product of G. Heilemen Brewing Company, I actually believe it tastes like a loaf of bread in a glass.  And that's the best comparison I can think of.  At some point, someone decided that Old Style and Cubs baseball went hand in hand.  Then idiot kids like myself overlooked the fact that it tasted terrible and instead thought it was "funny" and "ironic" that we were drinking the same beer as our fathers and grandfathers.  This was great for Heilemen Brewing of La Crosse, Wisconsin, which would otherwise find itself lumped with the Schlitzes, Falstaffs, and Hamms of the brewing world" (credit author Kevin Kaduk)

Fins, I spotted an RV upgrade for you this weekend.  It's a bigger Pace Arrow, but I don't know how much he wanted for it.  Looked pretty nice.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

TDT, the novelty wrestling extravaganza is set for September 9 when River Falls comes to Collegeville.

In terms of talking smack about the Lutherans, I am only relating stories about my days as a lad. I love jello probably as much as you do, Lutheran boy! If I'm going to talk smack, it will be directed at the Baptists, i.e. Bethel. 8)

Whoa Nelly, you are fortunate to have married a McLeod County girl. My mother is from Lester Prairie, which is in McLeod County. I was born in Glencoe. I had the opportunity to date a number of girls over the years from McLeod County, especially from Glencoe, the county seat. Today is actually the 35th anniversary of my setting the school record in the two mile my senior year at the Hutchinson track, which is also in McLeod County. It was a memorable spring, especially when I got to take a Swedish foreign exchange student from Glencoe to my high school prom. Life would not have been the same for me without McLeod County.

My wife is a Glencoe gal.  The German's make good women.

Congrats - not on your school record - but actually remembering the date 35 years after the fact.  My wife's little brother graduates from G-SL this spring - I'll have to search for track records while I'm killing time at the ceremony.

Happy Cinco de Mayo everybody.

Which one of you MIACers is working for the AFL's Gladiators in LV?  The head coach (who apperently is on the hot seat) is an Upstate NY guy and has D3 coaching exp at St. Lawrence and Hartwick.

Since when did this change? Haven't you been pimping the home opener for this event in every other post? Why the change?

If this is the case, I can't even drag the Mouth of the South into the ring to give him the beatdown of his life as I've been wanting to do for years now...he's only coming to the opener, though I'm sure he'll continue to talk a big game about all the other games he almost attended...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Willy Wonka, it has always been set for the River Falls game. Buck "Rock `n Roll" Zumhofe has that Saturday open. I just placed a call to the "powers that be" in Collegeville to see if I can get the okay for the novelty wrestling event. I will keep everyone posted.

Whoa Nelly, when you are looking at the track records, look for the name Patrick Feehan. I think he still holds the two mile record at Glencoe. He set it in 1972. He was one year behind me in school. Great friend, even though we went to different schools.

Next time I see him, I'll let him know 'Gro says whats up.  Coach James is a nice guy, seems to be a good coach.  Too bad he's on the hot seat, but I guess thats how it goes when you're under .500 and expectations were a lot higher.  They probably should have recruited Frank and I to play.  Maybe Wonka, although the injury history would make him a risk.

by the way, it's good to be me:
