John's been doing it for ages.  We're the only team that I've ever seen it from.  It helps him to learn all 190 names.

It helps a photographer identify his/her subject, as well. :)

Johnnie Red

finsleft and anyone else who was present in Collegeville yesterday: how was the kickoff party for the 150th anniversary of the Abbey? Better yet, how was the Olde Johnnie Ale? I can only assume it will be provided to us at no charge by the monks this fall (in red cups, of course) in honor of this special year.

Special day in Chaska yesterday, also. It was the 10th anniversary of Christmas in May. Always nice to put those painting skills to work once again.

It was a nice day in Collegeville. Good music all around, tours of things you don't usually get to see, bingo in the fire hall and, of course, the unveiling of the Old Johnnie Ale. I was there for the blessing and the sampling. It's quite a tasty brew of the dark creamy ale variety. Some say it's reminiscient of Eelpout Ale. Now on tap at Willie's Pub, the La, Sal's, the Legion, Loso's and Stonehouse. The brewery guy says demand is heavy and many St. Cloud and Twin Cities taverns are anxious to get it. And watch for the new tap handles to be (maybe) turned out by the SJU woodshop.

Gotta love Google.  Can't wait to try some Ole Johnnie Ale.  With J. Laker gone, maybe we can get a ceremonial keg for opener this fall?  Someone with some pull should work on that ;)

We'll get TDT on that!
The irony (hypocrisy, perhaps) was not lost on me as I observed the ceremonial beer blessing by the leader of the same institution whose Life Safety employees are instructed to tell visitors that they can't consume alcohol when attending football games.
Maybe it's a valid defense if you're drinking the blessed Old Johnnie Ale.  :D
Abbott John walked by me on Saturday while I was enjoying a cup out on the lawn in front of Guild Hall. I raised my glass to him and said, "You blessed it, so I must drink it." He gave me a thumbs up.

Nice new avatar Duff!  :D

Fins, perhaps you'll advise Duff how much he's going to owe me for this gross violation of the Restatement of Torts, section 652C.   I can retire early and spend all my time at the tailgaters.   8)

You're not going to get much out of me.  Remember, I'm a recent grad and I'm still paying for that education.  ;)

Duff- That will be $1.75 you owe tmerton. Pay up!

Anyone hear from Kilted Rat? He must've sobered up by now after finishing his boards.

BTW, at yesterday's grad party at the Wooderson residence, the 1st beer they ran out of was Hamm's.  8)  Late arrivers and hangers-on had to settle for Miller Lite.  :'(

Yes, there's a cap on damages, not to exceed the price of a glass of Old Johnnie Ale at Br. Willie's Pub.

I'm not worried.  With Duff there won't be any trouble finding a commercial purpose somewhere.  I'm also not worried about Fins' damage cap.  It's a continuing violation so I just keep filing (i.e., requesting my beers).  Duff will become a perpetual beer machine.

Fill 'er up, bartender.

Ha, nice try, Merton.  While you may have gotten the number right, I am much more handsome than that dude :P
