SUMMIT!!!!!

After watching the Kessler speech clip on the Pioneer Press site, it didnt seem to be as big of of deal as the Strib made it out to be--- far from a "near riot"... still, the comments were iout of place at a commencement speech, unless given at Falwell's school   But considering Kessler's career plans- smeinary @ the Vastican, the ordination- it doesn't shock me that he has less-than-liberal views. He just picked a dumb place & time to give them.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

I had the same reaction miacmaniac.

The guy was preachy to be sure, at a time for inspiration.

I doubt he inspired many in the audience with his editorial of a speech.

But a near riot? Hardly.

I've got a diocese for Mr. Kessler - he'll love Lincoln, Nebraska.

Tmerton, Man, I thought I got around the Web alot! You are unbelievable. How do you come up with all this stuff?
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

Top of the mornin' to you all; k for the page (subject to the Duff exception previously mentioned).  8)  Speaking of which, it's almost noon - does anyone know where young Duff is?  I think I smell something burning so I suspect he's busy working on post #2000.  How much longer will we have to wait?

Unfortunately, we lived in Lincoln for a couple of years, so I had a head start on this.  If anyone wants to know what the Catholic Church was like before Vatican II, go to Lincoln.  It's now the only diocese in the nation that doesn't allow girls to serve as altar girls.  Indeed, when we lived there women were not allowed in the sanctuary, except to decorate it prior to a service; thus they could not be lectors.  And even men could not be lectors if they sent their children to public school instead of parochial school.  I don't know whether those policies have been changed, but it is by far the most conservative diocese in the US.

I'm quickly becoming a big fan of the Sierra Nevada family of beers.

Frank, you are such a whore! After gawking at the Sierra Nevada rep at the Westside tasting party, I wanted to be in her family of beers, too. She must still be prancing around the plant to keep you drinking the nectar!

I am old enough to remember going to Catholic grade school and therefore Mass 6 days a week before Vatican II. It was all in Latin of course. We had no clue what was going on.

I hope the services are in English in Lincoln anyway.

How many times must I refresh this page before the grand DuffMan 2000.  ???

He must be smokin' up his PC with a good one.  :)

He may be a whore, but SN is good stuff.  Nothing like Eelpout Ale of course (the consumption of which, if memory serves, involved no prancing either), and somewhat old hat out here, but good stuff nontheless.

Had a rather unique experience this morning. I was doing a CASE (communities against senior exploitation) Partnership presentation at a nursing home in Norwood Young America. After the presentation was over, an elderly gentleman came up to me in his wheel chair and asked me a question. After I got done answering the question, I started to ask him some general questions about where he was from, what he did for a living, etc.

He mentioned that he was a World War II vet. I thanked him for serving our country. He then mentioned that he served in the Pacific and got to witness the Hiroshima bombing, since he was six miles away when the nuclear bomb was dropped. He started to tear up. Makes one appreciate even more what the World War II vets did for our country.

Nice story, JR! And it looks like there's more work for you according to the following excerpt from Pat Reusse in yesterday's Trib:
"Always stop on red

Rickey Young, 52, the former Vikings running back, was stopped for running a red light in downtown Minneapolis early on Saturday morning.
The officer stopping him did a routine check. Young was driving after revocation and there was a felony warrant for his arrest in Carver County.
The felony charge involves six counts of non-support to a spouse and child, and two counts of contempt of court for failure to appear. Young was jailed in Minneapolis and posted a $500 cash bond on the warrant.
He has another court date in Carver County on June 5."

Since we are all waiting patiently for the DuffMan 2000 post, here's some breaking news.

finslet, maybe I can get the judge, if and when Rickey Young is convicted, to sentence him to some community service at Bethel. You know, helping wipe off the stadium seats from all the tears from the Bethel students after they get drilled once again by MIAC opponents and then rebuilding the support beams for the stadium seats for the non-stop jumping by the Bethel students.

Speaking of West Region football, I ran into a friend over the noon hour today whose son was a starting running back for the Blugolds. He told me that Whitewater is getting a running back from Wisconsin who started for the Badgers this past fall and then got hurt. That's all Whitewater needs, another great running back.

JR,

If you are talking about Booker Stanley my sources in the WIAC say no. Besides, he may well be in jail this coming football season.

And you are right, with Beaver they are set at RB.
