... the non-stop jumping by the Bethel students.

Which, according to Austin Murphy, looks suspiciously like dancing.

And speaking of Mr. Murphy, I may get to meet him tomorrow.  A bunch of writers from SI are coming to our office tomorrow to get reminded (indoctrinated) about the tricks of the trade to avoid running afoul of the libel and defamation laws.  Since he lives in the area (a few miles from our house in fact) and this is pretty much his off season, I'm hoping he's one of the ones who shows up.  I have my copy of Sweet Season waiting for his autograph.

FIELDTURF AT MACALESTER!!

Heard whispers of a 15 player recruiting class too.  That's the equivalent of SJU recruiting class getting in 200 players, seriously.

You can already tell the braintrust in the AD's office at Snelling and Summit has improved.  This was a smart move given the limits of land available to three fall teams.  It's funny but now Macalester will have better facilities than in anyone in Northfield.  How long do we think that will last?

I suppose the Scots have SMUMN in their rearview mirror.  If SMU goes MIAC, MAC does not want to be left behind.

In fairness, I hated the thought of putting in this stuff at SJU.  I've changed my ways...

Esq--

Only now can you refer to the MAC Athletics Admin as a "Braintrust"

Before it was "Trust me there's no Brain"

I'm very excited for what the future holds.  New turf by fall and new facilities on the horizon!

I think it's time to rev up the OAS for head football coach campaign once again.

Think of it this way.   When OAS gets the job he will be spared the continuing embarassment of coming on PP and predicting the Johnnies demise.   ;)

Johnnie Red

tmerton, if you see Austin, give him my regards. He is a great guy and made an appearance at the Stiftungsfestivities at the 2003 Stagg Bowl.

Must be college football day for Johnnie Red. I met one of our new deputies this afternoon. He started the conversation by saying,"I am not going to make your day. I played for the Bemidji State Beavers football team in `97 when we beat the Johnnies in Bemidji." I told him I was at that game. It was frustrating, as was the entire season when the Johnnies went 7-3 for the year.

The law enforcement story of the week from Carver County (no, Rickey Young is not the story of the week!). As you probably guessed, this took place in Chaska.

A woman had prepared a spaghetti meal for her husband at their residence in Chaska. The husband refused to eat it and accused his wife of placing a voodoo spell on the spaghetti (at least we know the husband did not graduate from St. Thomas). He also said it would taste "nasty" because it had peppers in it. Due to the voodoo and the peppers, he pushed his plate of spaghetti across the table towards his wife. She pushed it back towards him. He then became more upset and threw the plate of food against the wall. He then chased her around the residence and threatened to punch her. Police arrived and observed spaghetti covering the kitchen wall, floor and other household objects. They found the husband intoxicated and naked in bed. The man was arrested and charged with domestic assault and 5th degree assault. It is unknown if spaghetti was on the menu while the husband was in the Carver County jail.

Well, I tried to think of some wise-ass comments to share with my 2000th post, but I couldn't come up with any fodder.  It's much easier when you've got some moron spouting off about how "Porta is gonna run all over the Johnnies this year."  So, I thought I'd just post a few pictures from the past year to allow some of us hardcore Johnnies to reminisce, and to show the new guys how we celebrate Johnnie football.

The one with beer dribbling down his pants.

If my memory serves me correctly this would be the shotgunning contest won by Mrs. 56321.  Did you photoshop her out as a matter of pride? :P

Uh, no beer dribbling down the pants.  And it's easy to claim a victory when you only drink half the beer.  Also, she only did one, and wasn't in on the contest from this photo.

I don't even know why I defend myself against you.
