Speaking of Khans- there's a similar restaurant in St. Cloud over by BWW   Mongo's is excellent too- and be sure to say hi to the boss.  Many of you will remember Laura, the former La co-owner/manager.

Yo-Yo, where my WASP's at??
My grandmother is over eighty and still doesn't need glasses. Drinks right out of the bottle.  (Yasmine Bleeth comment valid unless prohibited by your College's code of ethics for Alums)

Admit, how would you rate Mongo's compared to Khan's?  Is it on par with Khan's?  Is it the same idea?  Do you get that awesome doughy bread with your meal?  Man, I could just eat that stuff!

A tradition unrivaled...

Rainchecks gladly accepted.

You have to admit it was a pretty incredible play. I saw it and still find it hard to believe. The fan reactions over that two or three minute period were outa sight. Talk about emotional roller coasters!

What I can't figure out is why we (I am taking liberties here) have to come there again. What a bad a$$ drive. But if the outcome is the same it will all be worth it.

See you there?

It was an incredible play and hard to believe that could happen at a critical time in the game.  Emotional roller coaster is correct.  I think the reason why St. John's comes to moorhead again is because of the 2 year contract agreement.  They play at the Jake 2 years in a row, then the next two will be at Clemens.  Something like that.  I hope this years game will be just as exciting, only ending with a cobber win! haha.

I will definately be at the game, the Cobber/Johnnie rivalry is in it's early years and starting to heat up.

tmerton, finsleft is correct, Carver County is the place to be. We are having the famous Carver County Fair this week in Waconia. It is one of the better county fairs in the state. Waconia is about 30 miles west of MOA. You would get on 494 west and look for the highway 5 west exit. This will take you straight out to Waconia. The fairgrounds are right behind Ridgeview Hospital, which is north of highway 5 and very easy to find. Just watch for the hospital signs. I would be happy to give you and your family a tour. Just email me if you are interested in hooking up.

It unfortunately has to to do with the MIAC scheduling mess.  When Mac left the conference, it has put the MIAC into an odd number of teams in the conference, which means you can't do an every-other-year home/away schedule.  Each pair of teams has some 2-year/2-year deals.  But rest assured that these schedules are prepared in advance (they were on the old Concordia website for years, before they updated it last year), and no, SJU does not have any influence over it (at one time the Bethel fans on here were annoyed that they had to play SJU away from home for three years in a row- one year at SJU, next at the dome (though a "home" game for Bethel), and the following at SJU again.  Of course they didn't remember that SJU played at Bethel twice in a row before that).

But with a fair likelihood that St. Mary's will be rejoining the conference, and with the eventual and hopeful rejoining of the conference from Macalester, the MIAC will be in a new scheduling mess...

And the Johnnie/Cobber rivalry is OLD.  In the early 1960s the teams traded national titles; they were competitive with one another into the late 1990s when the old guard of Gagliardi and Jim Christopherson battled each other.  Even when Concordia had a few lean years in the late 1990s and early 2000s the Cobbs have always played the Johnnies tough.  The rivalry is more of a respect for each other's squads and traditions, and know that each team will bring a tough, well-played, disciplined and generally clean game.  Now the Tommies on the other hand....

Tmerton, I got sniped one somewhere along the line as well! :'(

Well, I had given you +k, so I guess you actually got hit twice.  Hmmmm.  Interesting trail of bread crumbs.  :-X

Sounds like me and 93...   think I've been to that point 10 times in a few weeks.   Gave up smiting long ago-although I'll admit to nailing you once during the whole catholic episode   :-\   But I'm a new man since!

For Admit - some Catholic humor I received from a classmate today  ;) --

CATHOLIC HUMOR

This information is for Catholics only. It must not be divulged to non-Catholics. The less they know about our rituals and code words, the better off they are.

AMEN: The only part of a prayer that everyone knows.

BULLETIN: Your receipt for attending Mass.

CHOIR: A group of people whose singing allows the rest of the Parish to lip-sync.

HYMN: A song of praise usually sung in a key three octaves higher than that of the congregation's range.

RECESSIONAL HYMN: The last song at Mass often sung a little more quietly, since most of the people have already left.

JESUITS: An order of priests known for their ability to find colleges with good basketball teams.

JUSTICE: When kids have kids of their own.

KYRIE ELEISON: The only Greek words that most Catholics can recognize besides gyros and baklava.

MAGI: The most famous trio to attend a baby shower.

MANGER: Where Mary gave birth to Jesus because Joseph wasn't covered by an HMO. (The Bible's way of showing us that holiday travel has always been rough.)

PEW: A medieval torture device still found in Catholic churches.

PROCESSION: The ceremonial formation at the beginning of Mass consisting of altar servers, the celebrant, and late parishioners looking for seats.

RECESSIONAL: The ceremonial procession at the conclusion of Mass led by parishioners trying to beat the crowd to the parking lot.

RELICS: People who have been going to Mass for so long, they actually know when to sit, kneel, and stand.

USHERS: The only people in the parish who don't know the seating capacity of a pew.

Little known facts about the Catholic Church in Las Vegas --There are more churches in Las Vegas than casinos. During Sunday services at the offertory, some worshippers contribute casino chips as opposed to cash. Some are sharing their winnings - some are hoping to win. Since they get chips from so many different casinos, and they are worth money, the Catholic churches are required to send all the chips into the diocese for sorting. Once sorted into the respective casino chips, one junior priest takes the chips and makes the rounds to the casinos turning chips into cash. And he is known as The Chip Monk!

Tmerton,
I took you back up to 100 at 4:35 CST but you seem to have a hard time staying at 3 figures judging from the earlier postings!   :D :D

Much appreciated, though I'm not optimistic.  :( Perhaps my weekend pilgrimmage to Mecca (aka Collegeville) will bring me better luck (or others greater peace).  Anything's possible.   8)

Is there some indication that Mac intends to rejoin the MIAC and end its time as an independent?

our resident MAC expert appears to be on hiatus, but my personal opinion is that Bethel will rename its football field "Gagliardi Stadium" before Mac rejoins....or that JRed will lose an election in Carver County!

Re the CFHOF festivities and JG's induction on Saturday, I received the following message from the CFHOF Executive Director in response to my inquiry:

Actually it will not be aired live.  It is to be determined if it will be aired at another time.  It will be recorded with that thinking in mind.

Maybe SJU can incorporate the recording into their video of John's 2006 national championship season.   8)

miacmaniac, I did talk to our resident MAC expert this week and he says that things will be improving soon for the football program. Evidently the administration is behind the program and they had a good recruiting year.

Invitations have been sent out to the following persons for the Stiftungsfestivities on September 9 in honor of the media: Frank the Tank, Charley Walters, Bob Sansevere (he will be out of town that weekend), Mike Max and Terri Traen. I will be working on getting a few more invitations out. Terri will be at the Carver County Fair tonight so I will see where she is at.

Chaska made it to state in town team baseball! Tourney starts next weekend in Dead Wing and Miesville. Whoa Nelly will be hosting a party for all the Chaska fans. ;)

The tourney is in Miesville?  Sweet, then you can stop for dinner at Wiederholtz's Supper Club ;D
