Anyone out there going to make it to the Stiftungsfestivities in Norwood Young America this weekend? Hairball is playing in the music tent Friday night.

Believe it or not, last year they sold 10,000 burgers over the weekend.

I may be out there Saturday night cruising for more McCleod County chicks with my wife and recruiting for my new air band.  If you can play the air drums, let me know.

I heard the Shaw Bros. might be playing, bringing back memories of the eve before my wedding where I closed down Flyers in Hutchinson.

Note to future grooms: If you are out too late the night before your wedding, you do have a 83% chance that your soon-to-be mother-in-law will think you're just really nervous.  Your future father-in-law however, should know and understand.

Nelly,
Congrats!

My mother-in-law thought I was nervous, father-in-law knew better and encouraged me to "find one of my sons, I guarantee they both have some hair of the dog to help cure what ails ya." That's when I knew I was entering a great family  ;D
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Carrying booze for the groom and bridesmaids is the sole reason why we brothers make it into the bridal party....  Last fall I had to bear that burden for my sis.  Tough job- one of my bros was puking at the smell of whiskey and the other is only 15- therefore my flask was filled and emptied no less than 11 times that day...
My grandmother is over eighty and still doesn't need glasses. Drinks right out of the bottle.  (Yasmine Bleeth comment valid unless prohibited by your College's code of ethics for Alums)

Uh, pardonne mois, but I believe the understanding was you were going to bring it for the group experiment/experience on 9/2.  Even if the damn experiment didn't work, you can at least drink it.   ;D

I can bring the clorox if you want me to. ;D

Not to change the subject away from BDB's 26th store and the fact that this entitles him the honor of providing beer this fall, but here's my daily rant:

I was at the grocery store yesterday buying some food, which is what normal people buy there I guess, when the following happened.

A Latino couple were in front of me in line, they had 3 kids, Girl ~5, Boy ~3, and Boy ~1. They're talking Spanish and only spanish to the kids and among themselves. Interestingly enough, I took through Spanish 311 at SJU and spent a month in Guatemala when I was in high school, so I am pretty good at understanding Spanish. The entire conversation between the mom and dad was about stupid stuff like the baby had pooped his diaper and the 5 year old daughter needed a haircut, stuff like that.

They start loading their items onto the belt, separating them into 2 groups using the dividers. Group 1 is the Twinkie's and pop group for which they paid cash from a stack of 20's the mom had in her purse.
Group 2 was 2 gallons of whole milk, some cheese and a dozen eggs which they paid for using the WIC (Women infants and Children) program.* The checkout chick asks the mom, "Do you want to get the 3 boxes of FREE cereal that comes with your weekly WIC card?"

The mom repeats the question to the dad in spanish, he replies, "No ellos prefieren Twinkies y papitas para desayuno."

"No, they prefer Twinkies and chips for breakfast."

Meanwhile the mom is dressed in modern stylish clothes as is the dad and all the kids have new shoes. Mom and dad have about a dozen gold chains around their necks and mom has rings on every finger. As I come out of the store, I walk past them loading their things and kids into a 2004/2003 Dodge Intrepid with chrome wheels, custom tinting, and a stereo so loud I could hear it from inside my car 100 feet away with my windows rolled up.

Here are my problems with this situation:

1.  If you're so hard up for money you are on WIC, make your kids eat cereal for breakfast instead of the damn Twinkies.
2.  Who gives their kids Twinkies and Chips for breakfast? No wonder Latinos havd 3X the risk of developing Type II Diabetes (what I lovingly call fat people diabetes)**
3.  How does someone who needs government assistance to provide food for their kids afford brand new clothes for themselves and brand new shoes for their kids not to mention all the bling bling?
4.  How do those same people afford a 2-3 year old car that retails at over $13,000?
5.  What kind of idiots subject their infant and young kids to levels of bass that shakes their car? Do they want their kids to be deaf by 20?
6.  What is the criteria for getting on these government programs if someone with enough money for all this stuff can get on it?
7.  Why do I have to pay $2,000 in taxes a year on my $12,000 a year Navy income to raise other people's kids?

Am I wrong to be upset about this?  Thoughts ???

*For those of you unfamiliar with WIC, it's a government program designed to help provide Cereal, milk, cheese and eggs for mothers and their young children (under 6 I believe) when the parents cannot afford to.

** Type II diabetes is the type most common in adults. I call it fat people diabetes because 85%+ of all people who have it are 40lbs or more overweight and 90% of Type II Diabetics no longer need their medicine if they lose 20 lbs.

KR, you need to get out of DO school NOW!!!!  If you keep going where you're going, you're gonna wind up written off as a reactionary crudge-mudgeon charlatan physician.  But if you see the light and do what you were meant to do - go to law school - people will forever think of you in better light - as a tassle-loafered ambulance chasing charlatan lawyer.  Now isn't that better?

Seriously, KR, you are not going with your natural talents.

That would be where I'm at!

Be sure to call him tomorrow and ask him how the first Biochem exam went! It was a rough one!

OK, I'll bring it, but I won't be drinking it. I'll be settling in with the one-two punch of Hamm's and koolaid.
I'll report more on the experiment later. I've gotta go meet Frankrickard to discuss fantasy football and where the Gusties are going to finish in the MIAC.
Just because the experiment failed I got double smited, I suppose. Well next time I'm gonna say my whole driveway caught on fire.

I hope we'll see Silva sent to the pen, and Neshek, Reyes or even Crain start in his spot next time.

I've been away for awhile.  Good to be back. Nature. Goulet.

Just thought I'd stop by to inform all that I was at a wedding a couple weekends ago that served kegs of Grain Belt Premium (almost as good as Hamms).  I wanted to give the Groom the Purple Heart equivilent for great taste in beer.
I'm in another wedding this weekend, so hopefully it's just as sweet.
