This Penz QB at STO is supposed to be the real deal.

He's from the dynasty that is Mayo (let's not talk about the 1 vs. 8 choke last year please). What else would you expect, besides a few injuries that keep him out of fall camp?
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Hey MIAC hoops & football fans - in the name of former Tommie track star, "Leaping Leonard Jones," & Willy Wonka, check out the 2006 Tommies football roster.   See who's wearing # 22 this season!!!  :o (BTW, this is more of a hoops related post than a football post)

I don't know if it's just me, but the Tommies seem to be developing a penchant for student-athletes who return for their 5th year of ahem..academics.  Neal Anderson, Mike Keating & now Leonard's cousin.  However, this is the first situation I'm aware of where the athlete has returned to play a 5th year in a different sport.  Mebbe MM can fill us in on the details & what was the motivating factor behind this sports move.  The "Accountant Assassin" certainly has the athleticism & leaping abilities to play wide receiver.   ;)

That's interesting. Weaver is a ridiculous athlete, we'll just see if he has the head for it. In Neal Anderson's defense, he didn't find out he was good at basketball until late his sophomore year of college. Give the guy a break.

Holy balls!  I was browsing the SJU roster and there is a freshman O-lineman that is 6'9" 270.   That's some incredible size.  Drew Percival from Blake.  Anyone heard of him?

6'9 he's almost big enough to play little league for that Saudia Arabian team! ;D

This dude could actually make Pantzke and Engwall look small!

6'9 270 would put him at a BMI just a shade above mine and I would imagine there might be some muscle on him.

Size 18? Kicks the crap out of my size 13's!

Duffman and KR,

My son told me about this Drew guy. He told me he is a giant, built alot like Tom Engwall, he set the SJU record for shoe size, and he is a great and humble kid.

I imagined he'd be something like that, and Tom was a monster.  I hope he's talented!!!

Did you run to your medicine cabinet to check the spelling? ;)

I can hardly wait for Sept. 9 to see a MIAC team!!! It will be one of the few times I will be cheering for GAC!! ;D

One of my friends just stopped by my office to tell me that her 14 year old 6'4" 215 pound grandson has been told that he will probably be a starter this year for his high school football team. This team won the state championship two years ago so they have a good program. I am excited for him, he is a nice kid. For the record...he has a size 14 shoe. :P

I live in Oregon. He is a high school freshman.

I don't know what the rules are in Minnesota but I am sure someone can fill us in.

Having officiated HS FB in MN for a number of years, I am not aware of any age restrictions on participation in varsity athletics in MN.

That's surprising to me - in the state down south of Oregon you must be 15 to play varsity, even if you are in high school.  We have a big kid at my son's old high school who is the son of the offensive line coach and is physically capable of playing on the varsity but has to wait until late in the season to move up because he's not 15 yet.  Pity the poor JV guys who have to play against him until then.

Though it's basketball, I know that Shannon Schonrock started at Blue Earth Area as an 8th grader atleast, maybe even in 7th grade.
