KR, as you know now what I saw several months ago, and didn't listen to, the D3 boys didn't either. You johnnie boys have been brainwashed to the point that your story never seems to change even though your teams do. Your last truly balanced team was 2003.  Bethel had you and should have finished you while they had the chance, but another special team blunder cost them that game.  Last year, your were spared missing the playoffs by Divine Intervention, (Yes you too had jesus on Gearmans shoulders). You were lucky last year, your team was better on paper last year. Your defense is in question, and I think now more than ever before, your team is going to stumble.  As far as Bethels one man show, well we will see.  It takes the O Line to give hime room, and this team is better on paper this year.  Their defense is probably the best right now in the MIAC, and we will have to see if they have the right recievers in place. Wetzell has grown, and gotten a lot stronger, and he is throwing right now unbelievably well.  And as far as playing dirty, what happens in the pile stays in the pile, unless one of the Johnnies comes out crying.  I haven't seen many flags thrown for it.  The Tommies and Oles are far worse in the league for trash talk.  But I gotta tell you, it is nice to hear you guys finally talking about FOOTBALL instead of every other" who gives a **** topic " you guys get off on.  I look forward  to hear you guys actually  talk about your team, player by player, and admit that this is not 2003/04/05, those years are over, this year is one week away, and all we have heard from you is Johnnie History.  But then again after this year, thats probably all you will have to talk about...

What I really wonder is when did they tell John he had to have the Season Predictions done by?

KR-
You tell me....you're Catholic and last I checked Catholics believe in Jesus?

His own, if he was playing Bethel, out of protection  ;D

Whoa Nelly-
Every team in the MIAC, besides Bethel, are a bunch of saints, correct?
Not Augsburg, but obviously St Thomas, St John's, St Ben's, St Olaf and St Mary's are, if St Mary's ever rejoins the football world.

It's football, people are supposed to be hit and it is a scrappy sport.  I can't believe that SJU makes it far each year, being as they are the biggest whiners in the MIAC!

Suppose to hit and be scrappy yes during the play, between the whistles and within the rules, not at the bottom of the pile when a crotch with the other color pants is in range.

Duff,
I get your point, but we, as football players, don't make the rules about drinking..etc.  Oh well, we could go on and on about this, but I am done with it  :) ;)  After posting on this board for awhile I have grown to really respect the teams in the MIAC because the ex-players and fans on this board are class acts from their respective schools and that can only mean the majority of the people who represent those schools are class acts as well!

Mighty Royal

Wait, are kickers considered football players? ;)

Are you gonna make it to any games in MN this year MR?

I am a Green Jell-O Lutheran so Sainthood doesn't appeal to me.  Yes, football is an agressive sport - people push, shove, tackle, spit, grunt, pull, scratch, and claw.  However, I never had much respect for the grab-a$$ stuff that goes on underneath a pile...from any team!  Play to the whistle, help your teammates and opponents off the ground, and get back to the huddle.  You are going to get a couple on every team that do the dinky crap, but from my playing days, it was most common with Bethel as a whole.  My favorite running backs to play against were Mike Johnson and Andy Traetow from GAC - because they were competitors but also carried themselves as class acts - so this isn't simply an anti-Bethel thing for me.

Achilles,
Good to see you had your full helping of Bitter soup for breakfast today.

If SJU always has divine intervention, then wouldn't that imply Catholics are right and you should convert? There's always room for a former Protestant in our pews  ;D

"On paper" Ask anyone who ever drew up a football play, every play goes for a TD on paper.

The reason there are no flags is the same reason people smoke pot on Bethel's campus in the trees by the footbal field, no one can see it.

I'll admit there is a fair amount of the herb that gets smoked at SJU in the woods, but you get my point.

If you ever actually talked to John, you'd know he's probably the 1 who gave Concordia a #1 vote. He gets seriously worried about every game even Hamline and Auggie. If you've ever talked to him as he prepares for a game you'll be able to tell he's genuinely concerned his team might get demolished in that game, which is why his teams are always so prepared for every game which is what it takes to in!

Besides, when SJU has won or tied for 4 of the last 5 MIAC crowns and 10 of the last 13, it's not hard to make that prediction!

Talk IS cheap, but it takes money to buy Hamm's. If you want to put your money where your mouth is, I'll bet you the beer (or soda) of your choice that SJU beats Bethel in each defensive statistical category. Then a case for who finishes ahead of whom in the conference.

You in?

Royalachilles,

You want to talk football?

SJU returns Alex Kofoed at QB who threw for 2972 yards last year, and this will be his 3rd year at the helm.

He's got a very talented Kyle Gearman to throw to who has incredible size and speed, plus a host of other receivers with a ton of talent (Derek Solt, Bryan Busack).

The backfield returns two great backs in Craig Luberts and Mike Lofboom who split time with two departed seniors last year.  Lofboom is also an incredible receiver out of the backfield.  Add to that DII transfer Mike Patnode and I see a loaded backfield.

The O-line will have a few returners and will have to replace a few guys--no big deal.

On defense, Steve LaVoir and Kevin McNamara (you may remember his 7.5 sacks against Monmouth in the playoffs) will bolster the d-line.  Jamie Steffensmeier (All-world) will wreak havoc from his OLB/DE/SS position, too.

The corners will be new, but John Cloeter and Shawn Schoenberg will hold down their spots as safeties.

There's a host of talented linebackers ready in the wings (Jeff Schulte, in my opinion, will really turn some heads this year).

Anthony Schmidt returns as placekicker and will put his share of points on the board.

And to top it off, John Gagliardi and his staff are one of the best coaching staffs in the nation.

And that, my friend, is why SJU will win the MIAC.

A tradition unrivaled...

I don't think I will make it to any games this year in MN.  Hopefully the playoffs will see a MIAC team against a Northeast team(Ithaca, RPI, St. John Fisher), but that the MIAC team has to travel to the Northeast to play...I will be at that game for sure!

I wish I could come back and see all my D3 buds, but it doesn't look very likely.

Duff and KR-You freakin crack me up with every post!!!!  You guys are class acts and it is always enjoyable to post on this board even though we have our disagreements!

Hey KR-
Ever think of doing residency at the University of Rochester in NY?

Mighty Royal

Right back at ya!

As far as Residency goes, I'll more than likely end up doing a Navy Residency as part of my commitment to them for paying for my schoolin'. Otherwise, Rochester would be awesome!

Finsleft, Im in, but does it HAVE to be Hamms? And when your threw wiping your *** with that Olaf Media Guide, your gonna be a frickin mess, so you might want to have a Red Cup handy.  Duffman, thanks for the update.  I wont bore you with the new Bethel Lineup, but then I dont have to ,D3 has pretty much already done that.  They like them to make the playoffs. Better keep one extra media guide ready for that day..

royalachilles

WAHOO, No I dont, but I have been checking every day for the Guide and it wasn't posted yesterday?
