To be fair to the DAC (Dakota Athletic Conference) Mayville State has been at the bottom of that conference for the last five years.  Frequently being shut out and beaten by 40.  To give you some idea, the second place team last year, Valley City State beat Gustavus by 7.  No idea what that means for the upcoming Valley City- St. Olaf game, but there you go.  also, from a quick check on the mayville website, it looks like one of their former wide receivers was invited to an nfl mini-camp.

KR:

We had the Despair calendar for 2005 I believe at my old job. I still have the snowball one on my desk. Great stuff.

The despair calendars are hilarious!

The summer I did bio research at SJU we had a prof who had the huge motivation posters all over. Each day for 2 weeks straight, the other mischevious researcher and I would print out Despair pages from the interweb and tape them over the motivational ones.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

I recall playing Jamestown as a FY and then Hamline played them again the next year.  The second game Hamline won by like 3 scores.  The HU teams those years I thought was pretty decent but they were 2-8 both seasons if memory serves me correctly.
Where did Valley City finish last season?  Early in the season GAC was pretty bad last year so the fact that they almost beat VCS doesn't speak well for them.

Just returned from the game.  I left with 10 left. it was 38-0 and well, if AO's take on Mayville was correct then Hamline should be looking at the Stagg Bowl   8)

No but seriously Hamline looked good but Mayville couldn't beat St. Johns Prep.  It will be real interesting to hear the score of their next game at Moorhead State.

MSUM has won one game in the past two years....it could be a real rock fight.

Hey, BDB, congratulations on the win.  Come on down to Collegeville to celebrate on Saturday.   8)  We'll be there on a couple of hours sleep, so you'll have more shut-eye than we will.

Willy Wonka, the date for the media Stiftungsfestivities is September 9 when River Falls comes to Collegeville. Invite all the media contacts you have.

Nice day at the State Fair yesterday. The Minnesota County Attorneys Association has a booth focused on the menace of meth. I helped man that in the afternoon. We had the before/after pictures of meth users displayed. I am sure many of you have already seen those. Rather frightening. As I was getting toward the end of my shift, a mother came up to me and said that she had been to the booth earlier that day and that her 5th grade son had seen the pictures and ended up crying for most of the day because he thought he was going to look like some of the meth users in the photos just because he had seen the photos. I had to explain to the kid that he would never look like that unless he used meth, which I told him he would never do because he was a good kid. It was tough to see him crying and shaking as I was talking to him. That was a rather unique experience for me.

OAS, thanks for updating the Stiftungstivities website, especially with the photo of RHB. See everyone tomorrow morning in Collegeville!

tmeron,
Have a safe, uneventful and on-time flight tonight.    ;)  Enjoy the rush of seeing your son for the first time in a college football uniform.

Speaking of meth, has anyone ever watched the show "Intervention" on A&E?  It's a show that documents the the life of an addict and an intervention that the family has to get the person into rehab.  Quite interesting.

Anyhow, on Sunday, they followed a meth-head/alcoholic/stripper and if you ever wanted some way of deterring people from doing meth, this chick should be your poster girl.  There was a nude fist fight with her sister, she ran around on the street naked, her dad had to physically hold her at the intervention to make her listen, and she was drinking a 40-oz Budweiser during the intervention.  My favorite quote was:

Interventionist: If you don't quit meth, it's going to kill you.
Addict: How do you know?
Interventionist: Because I used to do meth.
Addict: How long did you do meth?
Intervenionist: 5 years.
Addict: Ha!  I've been doing it way longer than you.

Also funny:

Interventionist: They (your family) want you to go to rehab.
Addict: Well, I want a big pot of meth, but that ain't gonna happen either.

Lead pipe my butt.   We'll see what they can do against an offense that has evolved past the middle school level.

Did Hamline get new uniforms?  They look different that the last time I can remember seeing them.

GO BU SKIN THE BEAVERS!

Mighty Royal

Let me just say skinning beavers is not the best idea, they just get angry! If you lick them you can often lull them into a false sense of security before you pound them.
