BDB,
Great to hear your wife is cleared! +k to her, but since she doesn't have a moniker, +k to her vicariously through you ;D  See you in 8 days!

I'd say that Mrs. BDB should start posting, but that might put an end to BDB putting up photos of attractive ladies for us ;D.

My Momma told me at our wedding reception held at the Little Falls Ballroom in a blizzard with a polka band, she said "From now on Bob, you can look but you can't touch!"

So, I have abided by her words ever since. But I have my own Mom's ok to look!  :D

And my bride doesn't care. She is pretty cool.  ;)

Just because you're on a diet, doesn't mean you can't look at the menu.  ;D

Glad to hear the news about your wife, Bob.  Yesterday was the funeral of a friend whose leukemia returned suddenly, so I've seen both sides this week.  It makes your news that much better.

But the huge news was when the doctor called my beautiful blonde wife of 26 years and let us know that her biopsy came back ok!!

ps: Is anyone surprised that my wife is a blonde?  ;)  :D

I am so happy for you. Nothing worse than the hurry up and wait while they test things. But in the end, what a fantastic result!

Well they do say that blondes have more fun, so it makes perfect sense that your wife is blonde! ;D ;)

For those present at Klas Field last night, care to throw out a few more notes about last night's Piper performanace. I read Leary had 3 tds, what about the running game?

How about the def?

It was really tough to judge.  Mayville did not put up any resistance at all.  The Pipes did what they were supposed to do to bad teams-- pound on them and repeat until the whistle blows.  But it's tough to know how good a running game really is when the defense doesn't do its job.

I will say that Hamline's passing game, though the stats will show it looked good, was not as good as advertised.  Open receivers were missed, throws were wobbly and lobbed, and but for the mistakes and misfortunes of the Mayville Eleven, Hamline's passing offense would have been cut down to size.  Furthermore, there was little, if any pressure for the QB to throw the ball.

Ditto the Hamline D.  When the offensive line doesn't engage the defensive line, it's going to pad the defensive stats pretty good.  When the Comets did open up a hole, their RBs could actually move and it was a pretty good gain, as the Hamline LBs were not fast enough to shut them down in the hole.  The Mayville QB threw the best pass all night- he hit Schultz right square in the numbers with a throw on a rope 20 yards downfield, 5 yards beyond the Mayville receiver.

The Hamline punt team didn't get much of a workout-- the long snap there was lobbed in and would have been a good candidate for a block.  The punter did punt it well, having it hit on the 4 yard line, but the bullet (who was guarding the goal line awaiting the bounce) didn't play the bounce well and allowed it to go into the end zone.  And the Hamline kicker, though he made a good field goal, missed at least one PAT off the pipe.

All in all, the Pipers looked good, but DeLaSalle H.S. would have looked good against Mayville State.  I think the Pipers will be exposed to look young throughout the year--  there is a good attitude and optimism on the team, but they aren't yet ready to be booking flights to Salem, much less McMinnville.
