Veek

I've come out of hiding and am ready for tomorrow when another great season of Johnnie football begins.  I may bring two grills, one being gas (sorry TDT), since Sumander is bringing 4 dozen brats.  I'll load the coolers and red cups up tonight.

Fins, TDT, JR, Duff, and other early risers, what time are you planning to arrive?

Fins, I do remember your terrific repair of JR's grill last year.  I'm also looking forward to your secret concoction tomorrow morning.

Am I correct that we do not have to be as concerned about the rent-a-cops this year compared to the last couple of years?

GO JOHNNIES!!!
Go Johnnies!!!

It'll depend on when I get up, but I will be there between 8 and 9.

Ditto for me, I'll try closer to 8 than 9. Please remember, I do have to travel 12 whole miles.
Re: rent-a-cops
Might I suggest we all use discretion and not flaunt things. We seem to be cool with them as long as it's not open and obvious, e.g. red cups. Also, I'd suggest that any contests among participants be held on the north or west side of the DT/DW. No sense flaunting things and ruin a good thing.

Your 12 mile drive will probably use the same amount of gas as my 70 mile drive :D

The PA might use just as much gas getting warmed up as your 70 mile drive.

Closed Circuit to Pat: We need a yellow face that is barfing. I could've used one in this post.   :D

BDB, does this work for you???

When I saw those 2 yellow guys clinking beer glasses you posted I had a feeling you would come up with a barfer!  :D

Just hung the pictures in my new office (we moved 3 whole blocks - almost as far as Fins has to drive to the game  :D) and I've hung the picture of the Johnnie sideline in the GA game over my computer (I've told the local UM grad that it's a picture of the Johnnies playing his skunkbears, so he's looking that up  :D).  Anyway, it's a beautiful pic and "makes" the office.    ::)

Wait, I think I see Duff down with the 30 yard club.   :o

Touchdown Tommy

Well everyone settle down, TDT has touched down in the MSP.  Only 1 autograph per poster tomorrow, sorry but this is the only way to prevent all mayhem and chaos from breaking out.

Veek: I'll be there at 8am ready to rock and roll.

Anyone know what time the bookstore is open on Saturday mornings during fb season?  Not real critical but I'd like to make a couple of purchases and if I wait too long I might not be coherrent...

Tmerton and Sumander: Don't forget your gifts or you risk being shunned to the Tundra for Ultimate Frisbee Matches...

Are Minnesota and Nebraska mirror states?  A friend in Lincoln sent me the following and it seemed like it might apply in MN as well:

You grew up in Nebraska if...

You know how to polka , but never tried it sober....

You know it is traditional for the bride and groom to go bar hopping between the reception and wedding dance.

You know the difference between "Green" and "Red" farm machinery, and would fight with your friends on the playground over which was better!

You buy Christmas presents at Farm Supply.

You spent more on beer & liquor than you did on food at your wedding.

You hear someone use the word "oof-dah" and you don't break into uncontrollable laughter.

You know that "combine" is a noun.

You let your older siblings talk you into putting your tongue on a steel post in the middle of winter.

You  think Lutheran and Catholic are THE major religions.

You know that "creek" rhymes with "pick".

Football schedules, hunting season and harvest are all taken into consideration before wedding dates are set.

A Friday night date is getting a six-pack and taking your girlfriend shining for deer.

Saturday you go to your local bowling alley.

Every wedding dance you have ever been to has the hokey pokey and the chicken dance.

Your definition of a small town is one that only has one bar.

The local gas station sells live bait.

At least twice a year some part of your home doubles as a meat  processing plant.

You think that the start of deer season is a national holiday.

Pop is the only name for soda.

The award winning brats (complete with buns and condiments) will be purchased at noon today and delivered to the festivities before 10:00 tomorrow!
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

...It was really tough to judge.  Mayville did not put up any resistance at all.  The Pipes did what they were supposed to do to bad teams-- pound on them and repeat until the whistle blows.  But it's tough to know how good a running game really is when the defense doesn't do its job.

I'd agree with Esq. & also extend my karma-props to JE for enduring the entire Pipes- Mayville game.  :D I left at halftime when it was obvious that the game was basically over.   The Agassi & Baghdatis match at the Open proved to be far more entertaining fare.

More on Leary... IMO he's a nice little athlete running around as a quarterback & not necessarily a great qb.  Nowadays, I think it's getting tougher & tougher at almost any level of college ball to succeed as a quarterback if you're less than six feet.  That being said, he did have a nice, touch (albeit late) pass to Seymour for the TD.  He's a tough kid out of So. St. Paul which I know Coach Miller likes.

With Miller at the helm, I think eventually the Pipes could develop a solid, respectable football program.  From looking at their roster, it seems they're doing a good job of recruiting both metro & out-state players.

God Bless Piggly Wiggly Grocery stores!

When we were in Wiscy the weekend after the 4th, a Shop the Pig commercial came on the radio. MrsKR started cracking up laughing, she had never heard of Piggly Wiggly before!

For the rest of the weekend my ill-fated mission was to find her a Piggly Wiggly so she could say she shopped the pig. The Pig in Watertown closed recently so we were unable to show her a Piggly Wiggly.

Next time we head into Wisconsin, I am going to make sure we find one though.

There's a Piggly wiggly in my home town of Cambridge WI its about 30 min SW of Watertown
And when you are through visiting the Pig you can go visit the shrine to my hometown's favorite son:

The KR family is off for the Land of The Sky Blue Waters! Hope to see all of you (TDT included) in under 24 hours.

Shotgun races anyone? ;D

Duff, will Hang your balls be played?

+k to all for safe travels!

Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.
