KR, your a little late, Bethel already did.  And they will win again, and again, until they see you in Collegeville.  By the way, I know a win is a win, but I can feel a little suspect in your voice.  Cobbers lose, Johnnies escape, BU wins and your just not sure how good they are.  Thats cool.  But Bethel will not win another game?? You sound a little nervous my friend. We will all know a little more after next weekend when you play"again in johnniecrib" and BU travels to your and my back yard.  If your up to it, Simpson is just a few miles down the road from Ingersoll, and there are plenty of places along the way to stop and pee.................

My prediction had nothing to do with reality or any perceptions of Bethel's team this year. It's based solely on AO predicting they win 9 games. AO predicting anything is like the SI Cover jinx for small schools.

In actuality, I predict about a 7-3 season for Bethel with potential for 8-2 if Concordia is suffering as bad as the first game made it seem and I can't count them out for sure against Olaf either. Despite the above prediction, I believe that Bethel has a decent team and with a healthy Porta, they can have a great season.

Rough start for Drake. I watched the game at work (real rough job:) ) and the opening kickoff return for a TD seemed to hit hard to the heart of the Drake players. Their running back (not gonna attempt the name) is a stud, but they looked weak in a lot of areas against a UNI team with what seemed to be a ton of D-I-A transfers.

Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

I'd say Bethel seemed to do pretty well without Porta.  But for the time being, I'd say the Johnnies can worry first about wisconsin teams putting serious scares into the stands at clemens.  Where is the Johnnies running game?  65 yards on the ground?  No offensive scoring in the second half?  I don't think it's Bethel who needs to be worrying about olaf.

oh, and I loved your bit about Pat loving the little guy.  If the requirements to be a little guy include the winningest coach of all time and the player of the year, I'd struggle to use the word "little".  That's the most beautiful thing of all for Johnnie fans.  They can win every year and run up the score on their conference foes for years and years and years and still see themselves as the little kid who gets no respect.

enough johnnie hating, i'm no fan of the blugolds or riverfallsians either.  I do wish my teams could play st. john's each and every year, even if it means getting beat 19 times out of 20.  Has Bethel risen to the challenge over the years?  They've got what, 2 wins in 25 against the johnnies?   Were the early years ugly?  I think Bethel might be peaking, but when they beat st. john's this year, can you get any higher?  I'd get a whole lot more satisfaction out of beating St. John's at football than beating rpi or rowan at the stagg bowl.

I am staying up way too late to post, maybe if I just made the easy prediction that St. John's will roll over the rest of its competition, they will proceed to lose all of their games and gagliardi will be fired....developing...

Your only hope of NWC winning even 1 of 200 games vs SJU is IF SJU ever spun off a JV and IF that JV played the NWC varsity and IF you & your siblings reffed the game.  (And no, AO, I'm not a Johnnie, just someone who finds your rants to be totally ludicrous)

Thanks to everyone who made an appearance at the Stiftungsfestivities yesterday, especially to TDT for bringing the tent. That really helped with the morning rain. Sumander, the brats were great and much appreciated. Nice to meet tmerton and his bride.

Johnnie Red, Thanks for hosting the Festivities! The burgers were better than advertised. The only problem is you spend so much time grilling you didn't get a chance to socialize. Thanks also to Fins and the rest of the crew that helped. Even rain couldn't dampen the atomosphere!

I will echo JR's sentiments about meeting Tmerton and his bride. Glad you could make the trip. The Golden Domers even managed to get a win for you. Not quite as impressive as the Men of Troy though! ;D ;D

It was great to meet every one that attended. It just confirms what I already suspected...Sum Jr. made a great choice in Colleges!

Biggest suprise of the day......meeting TDT! No pink, no lace, no polo shirt with the collar turned, up just a regular guy (almost) ;)

I am glad the Award Winning brats were a hit! I think we will probably need  to have "brat off" between Veek's brats and the Award winning brats at some point! ;D Impartial judges of course (can only be bribed with Hamms).

Finally, on to some football. every one talks about the Steffensmeier/Gunderson sack as being the key play of the second half. I think a bigger play was Schulte's 4th down stop of the EC QB! I was down in that end zone at the time. It looked like the QB was going to walk into the end zone and Schulte came out of nowhere to not only hit him but hit him hard enough to knock him backwards and sideways! If EC scores there we have a different ball game.

On to next week. At this point I am about 90% sure I won't be able to make the River Falls game. Family commitments may get in the way.  As they say developing....

Johnnie Red, Fins, et. al, thanks again for a great festivities on Saturday.  Even though the weather didn't cooperated the best, a good time was had by all.

As far as the game, it didn't surprise me too much that the J's couldn't run the ball.  With 3 new starters on the O-line, I figured it might be a bit of a struggle the first week.  Passing game looked good with no sacks allowed, but still plenty of room for improvement in that area as well.  Defense looked good for the first game.

Already looking forward to next week.

Oh,  and Happy Birthday to me!

Not sure if this is the same thing Maroon&Gold linked to since I refuse to give a newspaper's website my e-mail address just to read a story, but anyway:

A terrible day for everyone.

AO,

When Kickoff comes around, who did the interviews and wrote the Northwestern preview last year? Who wrote the Illini-Badger Conference (ranked 24th of 25 conferences) two years in a row?

Me. The one who hates the little guy, according to you. Then again, AO's perception is not always reality. :)
