Johnnie Red, Fins, et. al, thanks again for a great festivities on Saturday.  Even though the weather didn't cooperated the best, a good time was had by all.

As far as the game, it didn't surprise me too much that the J's couldn't run the ball.  With 3 new starters on the O-line, I figured it might be a bit of a struggle the first week.  Passing game looked good with no sacks allowed, but still plenty of room for improvement in that area as well.  Defense looked good for the first game.

Already looking forward to next week.

Oh,  and Happy Birthday to me!

Happy Birthday Buckman!!

Great home-made chex-mix! More tabasco! :D

enough johnnie hating, i'm no fan of the blugolds or riverfallsians either.  I do wish my teams could play st. john's each and every year, even if it means getting beat 19 times out of 20.

Your only hope of NWC winning even 1 of 200 games vs SJU is IF SJU ever spun off a JV and IF that JV played the NWC varsity and IF you & your siblings reffed the game.  (And no, AO, I'm not a Johnnie, just someone who finds your rants to be totally ludicrous)
Maybe you need to reread your post if you want to talk about a ludicrous rant.  Bethel didn't beat the Johnnies until game #20 in 1998, and since then they have lost 34-0, 39-0 and 30-9, but this year they could beat the Johnnies.  Perhaps the Johnnies have the most consistent program around, but that does not mean that they are unbeatable.
Let's talk football here, don't get stuck hurling insults.

AO,

When Kickoff comes around, who did the interviews and wrote the Northwestern preview last year? Who wrote the Illini-Badger Conference (ranked 24th of 25 conferences) two years in a row?

Me. The one who hates the little guy, according to you. Then again, AO's perception is not always reality. :)
It didn't make sense to me either, why you would do great things for small D-3 teams, and then proceed to enjoy putting them in their place on a level that shouldn't even compete with teams higher in the rankings than them.  I'm not even sure why you just posted that, it had been quite a while since I posted that, and you'd allready responded to it, and then some.  You do a good job, and just because I say that, it doesn't mean that it isn't true.

PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!

AO, NWC is not as good as teams in the MIAC. If you dissagree, then get on the horn, lobby the administration to schedule MIAC teams, and then let the game play out. Until then, please Shut Up.  You have succeeded in making your opinion known, now please give it a rest.

Scheduling football games is not quite as easy as that maroon&gold, and I think Bethel has been ducking Northwestern in multiple sports. ;D :o

Northwestern has been playing 1 game a year against the MIAC and has been doing pretty well.  Now is as good a time as any to talk about hypothetical matchups with the Augsburg game coming up.  If I had succeeded, then you wouldn't be saying ignorant things.  A third of the MIAC is ranked below Northwestern in the rankings.  We will see this Saturday if that is deserved or not after a less than stellar performance against Cornell.

Ahh, but you see, it isn't about them, it's about putting a loudmouth fan in his place when he can't seem to understand reality.

If I were about putting them in their place, I would have written something about it on the front page. But no, see, I targeted it here, where you are.

Because you just plain weren't listening then, but I thought that maybe being confronted with even MORE facts, you might figure it out.

AO

I think you're getting your arguments a little confused Pat.  Your previous post was not about putting me in my place, it was about defending yourself as a supporter of all 234 teams in division 3.

How about we discuss football?  Making personal attacks or putting people in their place shouldn't be the focus of this board.  Though, I'd say this board would rather discuss beer and Anna Kournikova than football.

AO,

NWC is good where they are at, but if they scheduled a game with one of the top 5 teams in the MIAC they wouldn't win and probably wouldn't come close.  I think I would even cheer for bethel to beat NWC, because you support them.

Plus, we do discuss football on this board!  We enjoy mixing it up with a little anna kournikova, a chilled 30 pk of Hamms, especially when it's on sale, and the nationally known tailgate party....STIFTUNGSFESTIVITIES!  If you don't like what we do on our board, get off of it and go annoy posters somewhere else.

AO,

I actually agree that i'ts not easy to schedule games with teams you rarely play.  That can only work on special open dates during the right year.  Usually, when you schedule a special game like that, teams want to play someone that is at the same level athletic wise, they don't want to play down to a team like.....NWC.

AO

I didn't say I didn't like talking about non-football related things, I just noted that they were a big part of the board.

I agree wholeheartedly that stiftungsfestivities is a great tradition, and I have been fortunate to take part last fall when St. John's came to st. paul.  Johnnie red should be commended daily for his burger grilling and promotion.  There aren't many places in sports where you can get fans from rival teams to get together like that.

Let's start with the 5th best team in the MIAC then.  Who is it and why would Northwestern not even come close?

And when you're St. John's, I'd say it's pretty tough finding a non-conference opponent who you're not playing down to.  Maybe you're thinking they should get St. Cloud State back on the schedule?  That's what I would like to see happen, anyways.

AO: Let's just say this.

For the 5th place team in the MIAC ``a bad day in Mt. Vernon'' is a victory by less than  two TDs.

AO

I thought the same thing about Northwestern beating cornell, but you never know until you play.

AO, the Johnnie backers have heard to many times that a team looks like they could beat SJU. Last year St. Olaf was touting their team after ripping off 5 straight wins in the MIAC to start the season. Well they then came into Clemens Stadium procceded to score the opening FG and then allowed 63 straight points before running from Collegeville with their tails between their legs. I will believe that a team from the MIAC other than CC can compete with the J's when I see it with my own two eyes.

AO,

Yeah Eau Claire gave the Johnnies a good game on Saturday, but miacwatchmen said a team from the MIAC.  Read more carefully before you post!
