hahah  good edit. I hope Wonka wasn't duped by that.   but what about it, is eau claire better than Bethel and Concordia?

Eau Claire is better than bethel, I know that without even having seen bethel and MSUM stopmed CORD so I don't know how good the Cobbers are right now but I imagine a CORD vs. Eau CLaire game would be very competitive much like the Johnnie Eau Claire game.

Eau Claire does have a new coach, but he's not an unfamiliar coach. He was there as a coordinator quite recently, remember. I think there's some debate as to where they'll end up.

You are correct, Pat. The new EC coach has only been out of the program I think 2 years. Maybe 3. Either way, he knows the players and the whole thing and I am sure will do well.

I have seen Eau Claire picked anywhere from 4-7. I think the popular pick for last place is Platteville. Having said that, my personal opinion is that Platteville will compete well with the whole conference. The WIAC is strong top to bottom and any order of finish, (other than Whitewater and now LAX) coming in last wouldn't totally shock me.

Crazy story about Jeff Reardon...worth a read.

Bert gets suspended for 2 games...I'm waiting for the video to show up on the internet.

Youtube will have it soon enough.

Who did the game today without Bert?

Any "Circle Me Bert's Replacement" signs?
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

If we're going to be men, then you don't have to worry about me saying one thing, but meaning another.  When I write, "Though, I'd say this board would rather discuss beer and Anna Kournikova than football.", I don't mean "gee I really wish everyone would have zero fun on this board and not talk about unsavory things".    So in fewer words I agree with you about this board.

Interesting that Eau Claire is predicted to win so few games and yet they're ranked so high in the overall by the d3football writers.  Where do you see them ending up BDB?  River Falls is predicted to be the worst of the WIAC, so I'm not concerned with St. John's being able to win that one, but where is the alarm for the johnnies who escaped from an eau claire team predicted to win 1 WIAC game?

AO, you remind me of a girlfriend I had once.

She liked to take everything that was said and argue about it.

The WIAC is a crazy conference. Everyone picks Whitewater but yet, LAX knocks off (D1-Championship Division) SDSU.

A couple of injuries on WW or LAX and UW-Stout or UW-Stevens Point or UW-Eau Claire or UW-Oshkosh come into conference title contention.

Even without injuries, (which I hope doesn't happen) those other  teams might get into the mix.

And teams like UW-River Falls and UW-Platteville can crank up and beat anyone.

So, who's to say? But the Johnnies beating Eau Claire by 4 was not like SJU beating the Little Sisters of the Poor.

No tv today, but Ron Coomer will fill in for Bert for Tuesday/Wednesday. He was already scheduled to be off Thursday and Friday. So Bert will be back on Saturday.

He threw out a couple f-bombs because he thought he was taping the segments, but instead it was live. He said something like let's f-ing do it again. I f-ing screwed up."

Nope but I would have made a "Square me Dick" sign if I went to the game   ;D

Well, I return and have 17 pages to read.  Ridiculous.

My take on the SJU/UWEC game (altough it's a bit late):

Offense looked good at times.  Weber looked good at WR for the most part.  Gearman was solid.  I think his downfall is that he tends to drop balls when getting hit.  He does a helluva job getting separated from DBs, though, and when he's open, he makes a lot of catches.  First half, I thought the running game was looking fairly good, but they abandoned it second half when they got stuffed a few times.  The o-line looked decent for having 3 new starters.  Kofoed was shaky.  He made some poor choices on some throws and was off in general.  The audible to the option last play of the first half was a bad decision, too.

Defense will be pretty good this season.  There were some mistakes, but in general, they did well for a first game for a lot of those guys.  Pass coverage needs to get tightened up, but I thought they played the run well.  I was impressed with Gunderson (98) as a DT.  He's a big kid, but has great speed and looked like a very good pass rusher.  Plus, he's only a sophomore.  Shockman (37) has some great size.  I think he'll develop into a great LB.  Schulte looked good at LB, too, and Steffensmeier is back...look out!

I don't know what is up with the kicking game, but it'll get ironed out, I'm sure.

Stiftungsfestivities were great.   Thanks to all that had a part in it.  It was great to see all the regulars and to meet Tmerton, Mrs. Tmerton and Summander (those brats were UNREAL).  Sorry I didn't get to meet the rest of you that were there (or I met you and didn't know that you were a poster).  If you recognize me in the future please introduce yourself with a real name and your d3football.com identity ;D

Now are you guys picking on AO? LOL

With such a huge showing against Cornell he really should be shooting his mouth off.  I mean Cornell being the IIAC powerhouse that it is. It is one thing to support your team and be proud of them.  Be supportive of your conference and conference schools.  But to be the way that AO has been just does not show any football knowledge or make much sense to me.  It was good to come back to the cities this last weekend.  The Tommies have a pretty decent team.  I think that its tuff to compare from year to year.  If they play like they played us they may be able to beat Bethel.  It just depends on if Bethel replaced the players they lost last year.  The Tommies had a good passing attack when the line gave the QB enough time to throw.  Good luck to the MIAC the rest of the year.  Hope maybe we have another game with you guys at the end of the year.

I have a special guest I am bringing to Stiftungstfestivities.

Duff don't blow my cover brother.  ;)

Just got back and see there are about 20 pages to read.  Can't read them now but want to thank everyone for a terrific first game at the Natural Bowl.  #2 son didn't get in but a couple of the freshmen did and one of them laid a tremendous lick on a punt return.  Fins, we had to head down to the field at the end of the game to see #2.  He looks pretty good in red, even though his jersey's a little big.  Expect to see him in on some kickoffs.

I'm gonna forget some folks but I'll pass out K for all as well as a lot of thanks -  JR (great burgers and wondeful hospitality!), Fins (Hamm's and great seats), Duff, Veek (some great beers), Summander (great brats and that bball player is very impressive), TDT, Frank, OAS, ROR, and I know I've left out some.

We'll be back for the Family Weekend game with the Gusties; in the meantime, go get 'em.

The Johnnies almost lose, the Gusties don't lose and my Red Wing Aces pounded Johnnie Red's Chaska Cubs yesterday on a beautiful first Saturday of football. The only thing that could have made it better was having the Golden Domers come up short...

WW, if I smited, which I don't, you'd get one for that last remark.  Got the GT game replaying as I type.  ;D

This is the kind of great football knowledge that everyone thinks that I don't have?  I haven't seen Bethel, but they must suck based on the fact that I don't like them.  How about Mighty Royal says something in defense of his Bethel Royals rather than calling me a tool without explaining himself at all.   If Mighty isn't a tool for Bethel and the johnnie fans, tools for SJU, then what kind of fans would we be?  I'm glad you're able to unite to smite me at least.  One guy can say how much I suck and the next can not read anything that I wrote and agree with the other guy that I'm just shooting my mouth off.  Can you bring up the points that I'm being ridiculous on?  I merely asked the question as to whether a Bethel or Concordia could beat Eau Claire and you interpret it as the Johnnies really suck and wouldn't beat St. Kate's rugby squad.

On a different note, did anyone see Gags on the Today show monday morning?

rockcat

Great stuff on the Today show.  I was out of town and just happened to wake up in time to catch it.

+k to everyone not named AO.  What a zoo...
