In the words of the great Ron Burgundy, "Boy, that escalated quickly... I mean, that really got out of hand fast. "  I guess I could have phrased that 30+ points statement a little better...

I didn't mean it in a "ZOMFG!!!!!!111eleven!  The Johnnies [censored] rooool!  Blugolds--DEAD! Royals--DEAD!  Tommies--DEAD!  Cobbers--DEAD!  Wildcats-DEAD!  Warhawks--DEAD!  Purple Raiders--DEAD!!!  Gagliardi for President! Pope! SAINTHOOD!  Give us the goddamn trophy already!"-kinda way.

I meant it in a "The Johnnies really controlled play on both sides of the ball and squandered some opportunities.  Because of that, they struggled with a team that they shouldn't have.  I hope that doesn't become a habit."-kinda way.

Hopefully that helps.  Like I said, I was listening to the game on the radio while fishing.  After the defense stiffened up after the first UWEC drive and the offense was passing well, it really felt like that kind of game that we see a lot of Johnnie back-ups in the 2nd half.  If you would have told me in the 2nd quarter that the first teamers would play the whole game and UWEC would have a legitimate chance at winning the game, I would have told you to go [censored] yourself.  I have something of a foul mouth.

---

TDT--Hopefully the Rent-A-Cops were gentle.  The weather scared me off a little last weekend.  I'm going to do my best to hit next weekend's game.

---

Joe Luke--I always focused on him on kick coverage last year.  He had an unbelievable play at Concordia.  Body parts everywhere.  On the other hand, I seem to remember him taking a really stupid penalty at UWW after making a great play on a kickoff.  Seems he had to give verbal confirmation of the block he just made.  It doesn't seem like the kind of thing that Gagliardi has historically rewarded with playing time.  Hopefully he can tone it down/rein it in/properly medicate himself, because he certainly doesn't shy away from contact.

OldBethel27: "TC - "From the sounds of it, St. John's easily could have won by 30+" could be the most absurd and meaningless comment I've heard in a month. "

Even with AO around?  Really?  Wow, that hurts...

Yup, that penalty was probably the dumbest one I've ever seen.  He totally deserved it and I remember ranting about it last year.

Old and achilles,
Don't take TDT too seriously, he is just still pissed that he was turned down over and over from numerous BU women!

Mighty Royal

MR, you can leave the "BU" out of there.

tmerton- It's University of Wisconsin Whitewater. How do you figure 3 W's?

Term: Whitewater [origin of place name]
Definition: The Menominee, Chippewa, Ottawa, and Potawatomi tribes called the river by Indian names meaning "rily, whitish water," caused by white, soft clay in some parts of it. The town is named from the river.

[Source: Wis. Hist. Coll. 3: 428 (note).]

Just because the Indians left the space out doesn't mean we don't know that it's the University of Wisconsin with the Whitish Water - or Wisconsin Whitewater for short.

Or we could call it WWWW - Wisconsin with the Whitish Water.  Maybe just W4.

It's just a matter of figuring these things out.  ;D

Rent-a-cop: What's in that cup?
TDT: I don't know, but definitely not Zima.
RAC: Pour it out now
TDT then pours entire cup into his mouth.

RAC: You are quite the little Eddie Haskell, aren't you?
TDT: Only if that means I am gonna get a spanking.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Bottomline is that Bethel is a cupcake and has not so gracefully slipped back into the mediocrity of the MIAC.  I hope UST and GAC enjoy your company.

You mean losing to Hambone two years in a row hasn't dropped us to the lower tier yet? Man, that's the best news I've heard since my new coworker's mom told me she used to beat TDT in his youth on Sunday evening.

Mongo - What are your thoughts on Saturday? Should we crash Frank's place?
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

My karma is too high. Let's try this:

OR......We could call UWW   W7, for the number or points they allowed SJU, or for the 7 fumbles they caused in that game.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Hey KR, thought you were gone for a week?  ???

Nice YouTube find. My wife and kids and I were just back from Mass and Bert lays down the F-bombs on us.  :-\

Wonka, did I ever make your column or was my stuff too lame? I understand if it was.   :-[

With that pearl, I am signing off for a few weeks. There is too much reading involved in keeping up now that the season has started. I would like to thank all you guys who were on here all summer. It kept me entertained and laughing every day.  You are a good group of guys and I look forward to meeting all of you at some point this season. Good luck to all!
