JR and PI,  I'm also bringing wild rice sausages so if you want to bring something else PI, or at least a different flavor, feel free to do so.

I'll fill everyone in on Saturday about my slight mishap last Saturday.  I'm still laughing about it but it best be told in person (or by cell phone late in the evening). :P

Sounds like a plan. I am on a journalist budget. I will come up with something clever.

Hey, Did anyone see Big Lee on Saturday?  I know Dr. Dirk and Johnnie Irish and SJUSection105 were among those spotted insides the gates to Heaven...

I understand that Willy Wonka will be making an appearance in Cville this weekend.  This could only mean one thing...A Battle Royale between Duffman and Wonka.

ROR: Pics of Wonka knocked out cold on Stiffyfest.com would be much appreciated.

I'll do what I can.  I'll have to use the long lens.  Don't want any of the blood spatter landing on my photographic equipment.

Do you actually take photos with that expensive gear? Do you use film and wait 2 weeks for developing? All I see here and on OAS's site* are the shots from my cheap camera.

Wow! I didn't even know stiftungsfestivities.com existed. And it even gives me credit for coming up with the name. I feel like Steve Martin (aka Navin Johnson) in "The Jerk" when finally gets his name in the phone book.... "I'M SOMEBODY!!!"  I just hope I don't get shot by the Randon Phonebook Killer now.

If I attend the ...festivities this Saturday, what should I bring? Money? Beverage? Buns? Condiments? I'm new to the experience, so please tell me how it works.

Also, If I wear a Bethel Football shirt, do I also need to wear some kevlar, or will I be alright?

I'd say bring some snacks or dessert. And money. Bring lots and lots of money.
JR, correct me if I'm right, but it seems we have everything else covered.
Kevlar would be good, along with steel-toed boots, raingear and a helmet with face guard.

No, they're digital.  Been too lazy/busy to get them posted.  I do have the photos of the Rich Hall halftime ceremony at:

If you bring enough money the kevlar won't be needed. ;)

Gustie fans, now they are predicting rain for Saturday and temps in the high sixties. Willamette does have covered stands (that you share with the home team fans) and artificial turf, so it should be too messy. Damn it, I am not ready for the rain to start yet!  :(

How about some fried falcon and a Falcon Eddy to wash it down?

I think Johnnie Red needs to roll out to Hollywood and prosecute Paris Hilton for her latest infraction.

I wonder if her excuse..."probably the result of an empty stomach and working all day and being fatigued," is the same excuse for her horrendous CD that Johnnie Red spent money on?

fred - question for you.  At the WRF website it lists the 2006 recruits - all 65 of them - but the football roster only lists 11 freshmen (at least one of whom is not on the list of 65 recruits).  What's up with that?  Do you guys have a freshman/jv team or have 54 kids already been cut?

I don't know for sure, but there are a few things that could be at play here:

1.) WIAC limits its squads' rosters to 100 players.  So each school cannot have more than 100 guys practicing and thus a part of the team.

2.) Grayshirting.  Since redshirting is not allowed at the D3 level, some schools (and I don't know if UWRF is one) will bring in a freshman for preseason practice, determine that they wouldn't play as a frosh anyway, put them on an informal (meaning the team does not supervise) weight training and skills training regimen, and "cut" them off their 100 man roster before the first game of the season.  That way the player gets the preseason practice and gets to improve themselves as a redshirt would during the season, but just cannot participate in practices with the team, and thus gets an "extra" year of eligibility.  The player cannot play on the JV team either.

Two things about this practice-- in the WIAC, where players often take 5 years to graduate, it helps keep players in school and interested; and two, it is completely legal under NCAA rules.

And three:  What football coach wouldn't want their starters playing at the age of 22 instead of 18 whenever possible.  Usually big difference in body size.
