OlBethel27, I have seen both Bethel games this year.  The obvious is the disciplined defense. Some posters will argue these were against 2 IIAC teams, but I think BV and Simpson would finish middle to a little below middle of the pack in the MIAC (this year).  The question will not be about Porta as he will start, but will the backfield be able to stop the pass.  This has been their Achilees heel.  Porta will do what Porta does, and hopefully not fumble away opportunities.  But I think even though this is a different Bethel team this year from a confidence level, they have not beaten CC in 2 years. I think this one will be close, BU defense will hold them to under 100 yards rushing, my prediction, Bethel 21 Cobbers 17.

Tough to say what the outcome of the game will be on Saturday in Arden Hills.  I know that the Royals have a stingy defense, but I believe that the Cobbs will run for over 150 yards in the game.  It also depends on if Porta is playing, if he is running the royal offense will move.  If he doesn't, they will have to go with an air attack on the Cobbs young defensive backfield.  I think the Cobbs have a chip on their shoulder after losing to MSUM and they will come out of the gates on fire.  I predict a Cobber victory.....CC 28 BU 24
Rumblings I am hearing out of Cobber land is the offense is "not ready for prime time" yet.  28 points might be a stretch on the BU defense.

Since I can't get the Twins on TV over here in Wiscy other than on Sundays and the occassional ESPN/WGN gig, I turned on the the tube and watched something else while monitoring the Twins via Gameday on the net.

So, did anyone watch the Vikings on:

The Jamie Foxx Sho.. :-X

The Tom Cruise Sho.. :-X

The Paris Hilton Sho.. :-X

The Tony,Tony,Tony Sho.. :-X

The "Let's Show the Booth all the time instead of the Game Sho".. :-X

???  :P

I watched the Viking's opening drive (impressive) and some of 1st Qtr before turning over to Bert Mother-F@%$^ Blyleven and the Twins.  I have to agree with Fins & BDB - Joe Theisman is too much and all the pop-culture stuff is enough to reach for the remote.

Is there anyone out there NOT in a fantasy league anymore?  I've had a few people look at me as if I'm from some 3rd world country because I don't follow the NFL or care for fantasy leagues.

I like the Twins chances with Liriano coming back and Silva at least earning respect the past few starts - all tummy aches aside...

I don't do fantasy football. Mainly because I already waste enough time.

Good to be back. Hope all has been well for all posters over the winter/summer.

Re: Fantasy football. I agree with Mike Wilbon's take. He says he was a Bears fan growing up in Chicago, and will always be a Bear fan. He doesn't WANT to root for a bunch of disparate guys playing on teams other than the Bears. I'm with him, except substitute Vikings for Bears - did I even need to put that in?

Amen to BDB, fins and Nelly. The next time I watch Monday night football is my fault.

No fantasy footbal for me, either.  Hell, I tried to watch the Vikes last night but couldn't get through the first half.

Saw that on the net mwm.  :)

My son was maintaining post between the family room and the computer room keeping an eye on both and keeping me informed almost pitch by pitch.

Nice to see the Vikes now have a squad that plays tough in the 4th quarter.

Hope ESPN gets their MNF broadcasts straightened out a bit.

What specifically do you think needs to be worked out?

A general question to all

What does MNF need to do to regain the respect it once had?

BDB

How about focusing on the game and not the celebrities in the stadium and cutting to the booth camera after every play for starters.

Bench and I are friends. We had a rap group in the late 90's called KR and the Fry Guy. We sold 3 albums; 1 to each of our mom's and we chipped in to buy one to share.

KR, using my old school math, that means you only have 999,997 more to sell to have a Gold Album!

Where are they all, in some U-Store-It place?  ???   :D

Actually BDB it would "only" be 499,997 to get to a Gold album.  1,000,000 would be platinum ;)

yeah I was surprised the booth was used so much.  I was told that would only happen if the game wasn't very good.  Also I think it will take a few weeks for the chemistry between Joe and Tony to develop.  They seem to be a little bit edgy towards each other and I would say it has good reason.

MR,

yes I see your point but they are trying to make it a more interesting night that not just die hard football fans enjoy.  There was an outside chance Bush was going to come to the booth for a little bit but it didn't work out.  Just wait till New Orleans on the 25th...with Shania Twain, The Goo Goo Dolls, Green Day, and U2 being there to preform it is going to be a crazy night

AO

I blame the vikings for the monday night football focus on Tom Cruise or Jamie Foxx.
Make the extra point and you're up by 1 and Washington probably has to press a little harder to get a score earlier in the fourth quarter, rather than a series of punts and conservative play calling leading to the field goal and a missed field goal.

Randel El is a pretty amazing talent.  Almost singlehandedly won the game for the skins.  brings back memories of watching him at the dome running all over the gophs.
