Hey TDT I didnt see you at the Bethel Cobber game today.  Porta did not run all over Concordia, but he did a decent job for first game back.  What you would have seen had you been there instead of whereever you are talking out of your pie hole, was a Bethel Defensive show again.   If you were to talk to a cobber, they would tell you they got their ass beat today by the Bethel defense.  Porta has not gotten BU to 3-0, it has been the performance of the best defense in the MIAC.  They completly shut down the Cobber run, and I expect, that both Bethel and Concordia would say they will do the same think to your Johnnies.   We were here today at a football game not at a game where you plalyed someonewho is coming off a loss to Northwestern, you should really be proud.  Bethel would have shut out Concordia, had it not been for a very bad pass interference call, and I dont think you will do that to them this year.  Other than Mighty who is always claiming total domination on BUs part, I try to tell it like it is.  They have some problems, but today, they played like champions.  And noone in the place ever mentioned St. Johns.  But you were the first to spout off about Bethel.   I think your getting a little nervous... :-\

The Auggies are simply piqued that 95% of the fans are Johnnie fans and this comes out in some low-core agressive ways.  At least, they've done some nice things with the stadium/field/concessions.   It's not totally dismal now and one does not have to stuff sweatshirts into the PA speakers to keep one's hearing in tact.  I'm sure Bethel is a good team, and I'm not going to alibi against a win for them against a good team.  Porta is pretty good but they'll have to have more than a running game if they're going to get anywhere.  I'd still like to see them actually get a post season win.  I thought they would get one for sure when they had Scott Kirchoff and that other really good running back a couple of years ago.  Didn't they get drubbed by UW-Stout or Point?

BDB,
Great work defending the church's party supplies, +k. Lemme guess, you go to a good Catholic church where they have gambling of one form or another at the Festival and bingo during the "off-season?"

Just got back from that gool ole Catholic church's Polka Mass that we have every Saturday during the Fesitival. I got oompa in my brain now

Not only bingo, but the big gambling event tonight is a poker tournament.  :D

And of course, the beer tent was busy after Mass.  :)

Looking at the box score, it appears Bethel shut down the Concordia running game (which Moorhead State did as well, so it's hard to know whether the Royals shut it down or the Cobbs didn't put it in gear). Only 92 yards on the ground to the Cobbers.

Bethel did give up over 150 yards passing to the Cobbs, which is about 20 less than Moorhead State allowed to the Cobbers.  But considering the Cobbers averaged only 118 yards per game through the air last year, I'll withhold judgment on the vaunted Royal "D".

Big win though for the team in Arden Hills.

(Side note-- the Cobbers outgained the Royals on the pass, 164 yards to 137 yards; granted , BU was up 21-0 going into the fourth quarter, but its not like the Royals showed a whole lot through the air, except for Kyle Lee, who had 5 catches for 113 of those 137 yards- methinks he'll demand a little attention next week). Key stat of the game: Phil Porta 24-141-5.9ypc

Better the beer tent be busy after mass than before!

Good luck in the Poker tourney!

BTW, how did the BlueDevils fare today?

Lee also had about 100 yards & a TD called back due to penalties... he's only a soph, but could potentially be one of the MIAC's all-time best receivers. (Dirty Deuce is in a special category-- receiver/return man/fill-in fullback/dominant player). Big hands on him, good moves.

I was quite impressed with BU's defense. They took CC's running game away, forcing them to the air. Cobbers have a WR the Johnies better be watching nxt week-- Nick Alton. Rodel is a solid replcement for Schumacher, with a better arm. The line had a hard time with BU's d-line.

As was said earlier, expect CC to be angry & ready for SJU... should be an awesome game.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Always so nice visiting Auggie Tech. Sirens during the game, hip hop music for about an hour before the game on the PA system, and being told by one of the Auggie staff well before the game when we were trying to put down some blankets to reserve seats that "This is not Collegeville!" I am so thankful I graduated from St. John's.

Any thoughts on having a Stiftungsfestivities next Saturday at Cobberland?

Did anybody catch the "Bert Blyleven" moment at Auggie Tech today?  They were pumpin' out the hip hop/rap music and slipped in a little parental advisory track.  I believe the song had a sh_t in it.
They promptly cut the song!

Salt mine is officially closed for the weekend. Thanks for the updates throughout the day + karma coming to you all for keeping me in the loop.

Johnnie Red & Chewy were the missed PATs blocks or W-I-D-E??

Do our kickers need help with visualization & other mental preperation? I have a dude that has helped with my golf game.... & he has trained athletes in other sports such as track & field, swimming, basketball. I can supply his website to order his book if needed.

I feel it is too early to talk of "what may be" for the upcoming October/November time frame. The past has happened, the future is before us and if we don't "live in the now" we may be saying should of,could of, would of. This is for the entire MIAC not just SJU. Take care of the business at hand and let the best team remain at the end.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Just back from taking 350+ pics at a high school game - used the regular photog's camera and man - any idiot could take good pics with it.  So it was perfect for me.

Checked my email at the game to get the score of the Johnnie double MS.

Wonka - Your maizenblue ruled today.  Lloyd's mamaries must be jumpin' (bouncin'?) with joy.  Good day to be at a high school game and to be a Johnnie.  My other alma mater (the defending national champ at their level) is puttin' a MS on Rice right now, so 3 of 4 isn't bad.  Still, it sucks to lose to scUM.  >:(

oAs - where are the pics for the River Falls Stiftungfestivities?

MR - kudos on the win.  I'll do a dance in honor of the Royals - but no butt smackin' I promise.

Settling in to watch my wife's home state get MS'd by Summander's favorite team.

Congrats to the Royals.  Sounds like they showed up and played well.

Just made k rounds - +k to royals for winnning, +k to cobbers in consolation, +k to Johnnies for the big game, and +k to the rest for being around on Saturday.  (TDT - gave you k+ earlier, as apparently did others - I'll be trying to keep you at 666)

Interesting results - Bethel (already have my tickets) and STO looking like bigger games than expected - but first the cobbers at their place.  Do they really go 0-3?

From the who woulda thunkit catgory about the Twins:

The Twins with the most HR's in Sept are Torii (5) and Rondell (3).

The Twins with the best Batting ave in Sept are Morneau (.383) and Rondell (.333)

Rondell has a 6 game hitting streak.

In 28 games in the field this year Rondell has 0 errors.

Silva in Sept is 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

BU Faithful

Much as I wandered into festivities at SJU on 9/9, I have now wandered in here.  I've no more idea what I'm doing here than I did at the tailgate.  Anyway, a belated thanks to all the Johnnie posters that showed great class and hospitality.

Isn't this kind of like Tony Siragusa calling Pat Williams chubby? I'm willing to bet Charlie outweighs Carr by at least 50 pounds, with 25 of that centered around the bladder region.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.
