I'm not trying to stir up the pot even more with this post however, the Royals defense has allowed 24 points in three games this year. But who have they played. ( I am not by any means saying the Johnnies have played superior competiton and in no way is this post about the Johnnies defense.)

Bethel beat 0-2 Buena Vista University of Iowa by a score of 13-0. That is a pretty decent shutout over a team that has won 6 games each of the last three years.

The Royals also beat Simpson College (IA)  24-17 in Iowa. That was Simpson's highest output this season in their three games.....all loses.

And finally we get to Concordia-Moorhead, a 21-7 butt kicking. The Cobbers scored 7 points two weeks earlier versus perenial cellar dweller Moorhead State. A stagnant offense and a belowe average day again for the cobbers.

So to summarize the Royals opponents thru their first 3 games have a combine record of 0-7. Also, the teams that have played Bethel this year are averaging a gigantic 8.14 points per game.....not bad if this was baseball which it isn't. Its not like Bethel has been the only team to wreck these three squads. They haven't won a game and they aren't scoring points. So I'm just saying that the Royals D may not be all its cracked up to be. And remember I never said anything about the J's defense being good.

MIACWATCHMAN, I do not agree with you.  I was at all 3 games that BU played and Simpson is a solid football team, and I believe BV will have a decent season in a very tough conference.   Then  to say the Cobbers faced a basement dweller there first game is wrong.  MSU Moorhead is no patsy, and neither is Bethel.  Johnnie-esq, now you I agree with.  You are on the money on your assesment of the BU team so far.  Now do understand that I am not complimenting you, because as you know from TDT, when Bethel is having a half way decent year, we BU posters start with the backhanded compliments to our foes...

Oh yeah, almost forgot.

Today on my 1st day of my cardiology rotation, I got to put a pacemaker in pretty much by myself!

I "helped" my attending physician put the first one in then he had me do 90% of putting the 2nd one in.

Best news of all, both patients are doing great and still alive as of 5:13 PM tonight!

Whoo! That's a relief!! Cardiology!! After your wonderment over plastic bullets and flowered wrappers, I am relieved that you are not on a gynecology rotation!

You know, if you want to pick on the other posters, myself included, go right ahead! But making these kinds of comments about a player (for any team), that can not come on here and defend himself is just amazingly uncouth! It speaks volumes about you that your way to insult someone is to question their sexuality or preferences. Grow the hell up...and open your mind while you are at it!!

If I can, I'd like to make one thing clear;

1st-my comments were about BU and how good I felt they played on Saturday. I don't think I said anything bad about CC or that they were not a good football team, they are.  I was just stating that BU played very well on defense and I thought overall, they had a nice team.

I'll help scrubby come up for a little air. What I saw in the CON-Bethel game on Saturday was a Bethel defense that has my respect, but not my awe. I say this with intent to be complimentary--the defense appeared quite solid, especially and obviously against the run. But it was not the steel curtain.

Of note, after some halftime adjustments, the Cobber defense was equal to task. Unfortunately, they were already in the hole on the scoreboard.

Bethel had excellent balance. Good, varied offense, and defense with good pursuit. Plenty to be proud of. Enough to be dominant? Only time will tell. They appeared to be on par with what I saw of them last year. Concordia did not look as quick or hard hitting as last year's squad. It could have been Bethel's play, or a Concordia team that hasn't quite gelled yet--or both.

I guess I probably am fairly sensitive to the issue.  I did my graduate thesis on college student's attitudes towards homosexuallity. I am not gay, but I have a lot of friends that are and they are wonderful people. Calling someone gay as an insult just plain lacks imagination. The whole mens college (SJU)=lots of gay men is tired. I don't know that I would have gone to CSB if I thought all of the Johnnies were gay! Some are gay, most aren't. I am sure there may even be a few (closeted) gay students at Bethel. Anyway, enough said on the subject!
