Kilted Rat

I will only answer the 1 part of your post worth responding to.

Why are the Johnnies going to have such a better defensive effort against concordia on Saturday than Bethel did?

Better talent, better coaching, better execution.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

AO

That's the only question that I asked.  You say better talent, coaching and execution like you think it's a foregone conclusion that Concordia is putting less than seven points on the Jake scoreboard on saturday.   Yet, I feel there is more sense in your head than to believe the sju-concordia game will mirror the sju-augsburg game.

Kilted Rat

Of course it won't mirror the Augsburg game. Anyone who even dreams of SJU scoring 63 on Augsburg needs a psych eval.

My conclusion tha Concordia will score 7 or less points on Saturday is far more sensible than your claims that Northwestern could beat most mid-level MIAC teams.

If I can, I'd like to make one thing clear;

4th-for the SJU people that are responding, I don't think I ever said anything good or bad about your team.

Hmmm ... let's try
QuoteI get it, you were one of the 200+ scrubs that go there each year to say you were on the team!

Is your explanation that you just sneered at the players and didn't say anything negative about the "team"?

BDB

BTW, tmerton, your avatar is freaking me out.  :-\

If you like, BDB, I'll try to find Frank's old avatar.  That one had the whole board goin'.

Easterbrook has lost his edge -- that's a pretty lame line you'd expect from a 90-year-old dot-dot-dot hack. Meanwhile, Page 2 has gone from a must-read to zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz lately -- and I hear that Whitlock might be leaving the "World Leader"  as well.

Took me a while to find it but it was a not too subtle inference that SJU ran up the score vs. Auggie Tech. Now, I wasn't at the game but I listened to the last part on the radio and was hearing the play by play calling names of freshmen from SJU. This gets to be stale, but for God's sake, when you put your freshmen in are you supposed to tell them not to try? And in the 1st conference game aren't you supposed to see if you can get your offense wheeling? Give me a break. If SJU wanted, I suppose the score could've been 115-0.

KR- Congratulations on 1st doing no harm!

Because you ruined the name of all Northwestern grads forever and since Northwestern's JV team beat Bethel's JV team linking those two bible-thumping programs for all eternity.
Do we need much more evidence of class by the johnnie posters than KR's response?  The point is that traditionally Northwestern and Bethel students have a friendly and occassionaly prank-filled rivalry.   I feel like I need to post meaningless crap without thinking.
AO- My sincere hope is that you continuing to "spell things out" will lead to me finding some "class". I only wish SJU could enjoy some "prank-filled rivalry" instead of just thumping teams on the field. It sounds like such fun!

Morneau (MVP) 5 for 5 tonight with 3 doubles!

USTBench. I see you're living in beautiful Arlington, VA. Next time you go to "El Pollo Rico", Have a 1/4 dark (or 1/2) with everything for me. I trust you know what I'm speaking of. If not you need to be informed.

Absolutely the best, although I usually hit the one in Wheaton, Md. -- and get lots of the mean green sauce. Line's usuall;y out the door -- and there are two more Peruvian chicken places within 100 yards.

Great with a cool brew. No Hamm's out here (that I've found) but Md. state store sells Leinies and the Trader Joe's have re-labeled TJ brands brewed in New Ulm.

fins: perhaps the distance between st. john's and st. thomas keeps the rivalry under the terms of obscene t-shirts?  Was there no defacement or vandalism of the other school's property?

I agree with you that St. John's doesn't need to apologize for winning 60-0.  It doesn't really matter after 40 as neither team is playing it's starters.  About half of Augsburg's team is freshmen, so what you likely saw in the second half was more of a c-squad game.  I'm all for getting everybody onto the field and playing.  win by 21 or 60, it's still a blowout, we can't put a teams pride ahead of giving guys opportunities to play in a college football game they normally wouldn't get to take part in.

Obscene? Maybe if your brain is clouded with 30 bible study credits, but spare me the holier-than-thou. As for the defacement/vandalism question, I haven't a clue what you're talking about. I suppose that makes two of us now.

Do you mean to say that in general the SJU/UST t-shirt aren't obscene?  They are ridiculously funny but it doesn't take 30 Bible credits to see they are obscene.

If you want to talk about any other "problems" we can have a beer before Carleton game.

Sigh...sorry to say I'll be missing homecoming :'(  But you've been missed this year, 105.  Even Steph asked me how you were the other day (and she's only been to one game so far).

Duff,
I have been to both home games, just not in time to make tailgating.
The highlight of the summer was a wedding in Belgrade- tell Steph I went to 2 Brothers Bar & the Meat Locker!!
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Johnnie Red

BDB, what is your connection with beautiful Longville? My family has been there since 1953 when my dad purchased some land and a cabin on Kego Lake. I think he paid something like $3500 for 50 acres and plenty of lakeshore. A wise investment! It is a great area and close to Leech Lake and Walker, which is important come February and the EelPout Festival. ;)
