KR,

I think you spend a little to much time quoting people and not enough time actually reading the quotes.  I thought you would have gotten to that lecture by now in your 17 odd years of schooling.  I never said vandalism was acceptable or "admitted" I do it.  I also never said there was anything wrong with your shirts being obscene.  I just commented that they were and that they are funny.

I'm not sure when I "squealed" about my toes being stepped on but clearly tmerton son standing on the sidelines is a touchy subject.  For all I know you must be his son considering your reaction and college football career.

fins, KR,etc: Time to take a little field trip to the LLPP.  I think our friend LD11 needs to be reminded who his daddy is if you get my drift...

Good call, TDT. Just paid a visit.

EDIT: Yow, just took a hit.

I'm not at all claiming that no vandalism has occurred in the SJU/UST rivalry, I know for a fact it has and TDT can vouche for the fact I may or may not have taken part in some of it

What I am commenting on is the hilarious hypocritical nature of so many Bethel students and apparently NWC now falls into that category where they do the whole attmpting to remove the splinter from their neighbor's eye while ignoring the log in their own.

Yet another example here courtesy of Freebird. Calling our T-shirts obscene while admitting that students from his own school commit vandalism like it's not a legal and moral violation.
You still haven't got it straight KR.  If I didn't write anything close to condeming the sju-ust rivalry traditions while accepting any bethel-nwc pranks.  I'm ok with both as long as nobody needs to take a trip to Dr. KR following a prank/confrontation or if the destruction of property gets out of hand.  As far as I know nothing that serious has happened between ust-sju or bethel-nwc. The most the average person might see around bethel or nwc is toilet paper or some kind of message semi-permanently placed in the grass or sidewalks.  I'm quite fine with letting sju and ust police their own rivalry with t-shirts and whatever other hilarity that might ensue. Clear?

QuoteOf the teams with openings in their schedule, NWC was the only one who would play SJU. Many teams that have a legit shot at making the playoffs don't want to risk losing their playoff spot due to an in region loss to SJU.
There are worse teams out there in D3 and Northwestern beats a lot of them every year.  Ranked in the d3football.com kickoff 153 out of 234, the Johnnies play worse ranked teams in the MIAC every year.

Apparently, just like a T-ball game, everyone gets in to the NCCAA tournament.
Only 2 teams play in the NCCAA postseason by way of the Victory bowl.  In years past the top ranked teams in the NCCAA turned down a bid to the victory bowl in order to participate in the NAIA or NCAA playoffs.  As such, it is not often thought of as a true 'title game' though it has the possibility of being so.  Maybe not quite as bad as the bcs process, but it's up there.  It's a game between two Christian schools and you might be able to guess that the true victory in "victory bowl" is not about a football championship.
Getting back to the NCAA, watch out for the SLIAC in 2010.  Sliac's gonna be making some noise..... :o :o

Good to know that the yankees win the division thanks to the Twinkies.  We'll demand repayment in October.

also, sorry to say I won't be able to rally the johnnies to victory this saturday by proclaiming the game is over 10 seconds before kofoed finds gearman grazing on the opposite end of the field, like I did last year.

Toilet paper? Wow! Do you guys, like, throw it all around and stuff? Man, that's just crazy.

My reference was to the way the fans are treated when they come to Alliance. I have had many Johnnie fans tell me how well they were treated while at that game and the others played in Ohio. One particular friend shared many different stories of his trips to Alliance. Our fans shared rain gear and umbrellas and even a flask or two that were passed. What really freaked the Mount fans out was this person was drinking his alcohol out of a hydrogen peroxide bottle! Clever disguise! I think you know who he was.

In regards to the field I can't believe you are one of the "watered the field" conspiracy people. Was the field wet....you bet...... but if you are looking for the source you best check with the guy upstairs .......and I don't mean "Joe" in the field maintenance building. I have seen films of the game. The teams were required to play on the same field even. Mount did not get to run their plays somewhere else and then St Johns played on the muddy field. This was a team that John simply stated was the best team he had ever faced and Ballard the best QB. He said he didn't see how anyone was going to beat them. I will take his word for it. He was right! How do you explain the highest scoring offense in the country only getting 8 points......the field?? Mount was a speed team too and just better that day.

Speaking of 8 Ballard did have 8 TD passes on that soggy, rainy field and at the St. Olaf game, which I attended.....St. Johns had 8 turnovers but I think they still kept it close
.....the field? Is that the reason?

Can we please let '93 go?  In '03 the better team won too.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Also a road trip close by...

UW Stout plays #17 Whitworth on Saturday

any interest there?

Johnnies are going to shuck Da Cobbers.

I read it perfectly. You called our shirts obscene and then said people from your school commit vandalism. I never said you personally admitted taking part.

Maybe part of Bethel's problems with making the playoffs on a regular basis let alone winning once there is that they, like you and Scrubby, don't recognize the importance of the "scrubs" manning the sidelines. Where is a defense if they can't see an opponents offense run by the scout team before the game? The guys who show up to practice everyday and pretend to be Bethel, or Concordia or whoever else work just as hard as the stud starters to make SJU the force that it has been for decades and will be for decades. This is why when SJU won the title, every man on the roster had the chance to buy a Nat'l title ring (unfortunately at the D3 level, they aren't free).

AO,
I'm glad you're ok with letting SJU police their own rivalry. Wheew That's a load off my mind. I wasn't gonna be able to sleep tonight worrying that SJU policing their own students wasn't ok with you.

Yes, there are worse D3 teams out there and NWC must have a heck of a scheduler to find 8-9 of them every year!

The NCCAA means as much to me as a game of tippy cup going on in some frat house right now. Actually, the tippy cup probably involves people with talent and would be entertaining. Tippy cup wins.

Only 1 ply. The 2 ply must be saved to wipe the remains of the odorless fecal material from the exits of their pure un-touched by distilled spirit digestive canals.

I'm done with this bologna. No road trips for this rat, at least none of the football variety. MrsKR's cousin (obviously not a college football fan) is getting married this weekend in Winona.

Anyone willing to text me updates at the end of the quarters? MrsKR didn't take kindly to me "going to the bathroom" 4 times during a wedding last fall to get SJU/UWW updates. :o
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

KR:  You may be able to read, but you also have an amazing ability to read-into someone's words and translate them into insults against St. John's.  Nowhere were obscene t-shirts looked down upon compared to a Northwestern-Bethel rivalry.  I really have no idea what you're going to take offense to next.

How many "scrubs" would you say actually make meaningful contributions to practices by running the opposing teams offense or defense?

KR- You gotta cut down on the post length man!! I had to take a break midway through to indulge in an ice cold Gluek Light after the one earlier  ;D  Just kidding keep up the fight. ;)

Like I said KR please re-read what you quoted and show me where I said people from my school commit vandalism.  I guess you have had a few to many Hamms tonight so maybe check in the morning.

Also you need about 50 total players on your team to field a scout team.  Something tells me the other 150 players aren't doing to much.  Sorry I know I stepping on your toes again...

Raiderguy, I was surprised as you were about Easterbrook's comments.  Though MUC has its share of bad apples, LK's class carries through to most of the Raider fans, and I don't see them anywhere near the "most" classless designation.  That they win by a lot doesn't indicate a lack of class-- but winning by ugly means does, but there is no allegation nor even a shred of evidence that LK cheats to win.

As far as '93 goes, I was at the game too.  It's become urban lore about the watering of the field.  Did MUC win the game fair and square, sure.  Do we wish we could have played that game closer to heaven though (e.g. Collegeville), with a different result?  Sure.  But that's part of the fun of college football in particular-- rumors and gossip turn into legends and lore and it makes it all part of a story that only makes it all more compelling.  At this point, I don't care whether or not someone turned the faucets on Alliance in '93, and in Northfield in '04; rather, that it is rumored they did only adds to the story.  Conspiracy theories only add fun, not real-life accusations.

In reality, Mount and St. Olaf won those respective games fair and square.  And that's all that matters.  There was a conspiracy theory around Bethel a few years ago as to why they had to play at SJU in 2001 and 2003 without playing at Bethel in 2002-- even though there was good reason for it (Macalester leaving the MIAC and Dome Day was a BC home game in 2002), and that BC had received a benefit from it as well (SJU played at BC in 1999 and 2000), the conspiracy theory certainly fueled the BC dislike of Johnnies!

So, no, we'll never let 1993 go!

From Shooter this morning:

) Some industry experts figure the future of high school and small college sports televising is through Webcasting. All Minnetonka High home football games are being Webcast on www.crystalclearsports.net this season, with Mike Woodley handling the broadcasts.

) St John's receiver Kyle Gearman, 6-4, 215 pounds, is getting looks from NFL scouts.

Comment: I too would like to see more webcasting, as it would be nice to get the TV coverage while at home on a Saturday, or if I have a wedding on a gameday (@$#%# you law school roommate....only an Ole would disregard fall Saturdays...) and can't make it up for, say, a SJU/BU tilt.  I hope the MIAC considers it conference-wide in the near future.

About Gearman-- we've talked about this before-- I am surprised-- he's got the size, but I just don't see him with the speed.  But I wouldn't mind if I were wrong.

Naturally since I went to SJU, I must be drunk each and every night. I'm sure you'll be shocked to know I haven't had a beer since Saturday. Yes, I'm going through withdrawl symptoms as we speak.

50 total players? Which part of your terminal colon did you pull this number out of?

Let's do some math;

Offense 11 starters + 4-5 guys who regularly rotate in on 4 wide or double TE plays and things like that = 16
Defense 11 starters +another 4-5 who come in for dime, goal-line and other packages=16
Kicker, long-snapper, and Punter= 3
Scout offense= 11 assuming no one ever gets injured
Scout Defense= 11 "                                                 "

That's at least 57 guys already who directly contribute to SJU's success before anyone gets injured or ever has to miss a practice due to a lab conflict, not to mention the guys who play special teams because you probably don't want your starting DT or QB or WR running down the field hell bent for high water on Kickoff team.

Also, the more guys you have competing for a spot the harder they all work to try to get it resulting in a beter product.

If having 50 players was the optimal number, don't you think Gags would have figured that out years ago? I guess his 3 National Championships, and countless MIAC titles are all despite his inability to have an effecient football team.
