I'm pretty pumped to see how the new look Knights fair against a good team in Bethel this weekend.  It's been tough to tell how good they are going to be with who they've played so far.  I think their biggest challange will obviously be trying to stop Porta and the run.  I think their offense may be able to do allright as it seems Bethel's run defense is their strength and so far what I've seen from the knights is a much larger focus on passing the ball than there has been over the past few years.  RJ's easily one of the best players in the league and can take it to the house anytime he touches the ball, especially out in space.  The knights finally have some good recievers and more speed to help them compete in the MIAC and I definately think that they have the talent (barring injury) to sneak up on some teams.  Anyway, this weekend will be a good barometer of where they are this season.

Go Knights

Will be in Rochester Mn. Fri. and Sat. Is there any kind of decent game within an hour or so of there to watch Sat.?
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

The closest MIAC games to Rochester on Saturday will be the two games in Northfield, Bethel @ Carleton & Augsburg @ St. Olaf.  I believe it is about an hour away from Rochester.

Unfortunately for me the MIAC doesn't play out here  :-[ and I can't bring myself to go to a Catholic game yet. But the good news is that on Saturday I will be in Baltimore watching the Twins overtake the AL Central and hopefully secure a playoff spot.

For those of you that I've offended by using the word "Scrub" in place of "Scout", I'm sorry!  For some reason it has hit a major "nerve" with some of you.  I want to make one thing clear, I was a scrub (scout) and took great pride in it.  I also totally understand without "Scouts" you can't be very good!

I took the time to look at the SJU website, mainly because I think those posters are the ones that find my comments disrespectful or just never really understood what their role was on the team.  This is what I found;

SJU vs STO, both teams unbeaten in the MIAC last year when they played each other.  Score 63-9, good old ass kicking if you ask me.  49-3 after the 3rd period.  200+ players on the sideline, at SJU, 50 players got to play!  Why, cause only 40 or so were really ready to play against STO!!  How can you be expected to play when you have been running the other teams stuff all week long!  You don't know scheme adjustments, formational sets, etc.  I'm sure on that day there was both players and parents that figured my playing chances are very slim!  I'm sure most of them figured they weren't getting in anyway!!  You can only keep so many people happy--and usually they are the 50 or so, not 70, that are going to play on Saturdays!!

For those that thought you were a "key" part of your program, you were, but as "Scouts" or "Scrubs", sorry--live with it!!

Scrubby-
Maybe you haven't heard...the horse is dead.

You can stop beating it now.

Scrubby,

Generally in a blow-out game like that, I would bet that the statisticians would stop keeping track of player participation once the coaches start shuffling players in and out every play.  I would say that many more players got into the game that day, but they were not added to the participation list.

Scrubby41

Not sure I'd agree with that, over 8 post just on it today and it's only noon!  Plus, I was the one that started the stupid comment anyway and wanted to make my point as clear as I could!

Scrubby41

Yeah, I guess theres an answer to everything when someone makes a point that is right or you disaggree with it!  70 played against Auggies that year, same blow out score, stat people didn't get as tired that day, right??

I've been trying to see your point, but your hat's covering up.

AO

and remember, St. John's had been looking forward to destroying olaf after getting upset the year before.  You still hear about as it came up in the mount union muddy field discussion.  The johnnies definitely had motive to keep the 1st and 2nd string in all day.

Scrubby41

Yeah, your right!  Those other 150 kids that pay tution, come to practice everyday, etc. , don't worry about them!  Oh, that's right--they are "KEY" to the success to your program, but don't let them play!!

It's actually more like 45 minutes. I may take in part of the Carlies game on my way over to Faribault on Saturday. OAS, where you gonna be?

Scrubby41 - I have much more reason to dislike SJU than you - I lost 3 times to them in football and they ended my basketball seasons twice I believe - but you are being an idiot. Please, as fins just posted I see, shut yer yapper.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Touchdown Tommy

Yea Flash, can you run up to Northfield and scout the Bethel Royals for me?  Getting very nervous about playing them on the 11th of November.  They have quite a juggernaut this year.  ::)  ::)

Wooderson: You are doing a nice job on the broadcasts.  Keep up the good work.  Hamm's is the cure to all of life's problems.

Note: I am purposely staying out of this fracas b/w Scrubby, Freebird, AO, etc.  I don't have the patience that KR has for this utter nonsense.

Wonka I spoke with OAS on Tuesday night.  He said he is prolly heading to the Whitworth vs Stout game on Saturday.  BDB be on the lookout for the "jersey".

Benchwarmer: Will you be bringing a sign into Camden Yards for Bert?  No No No not a "circle me Bert" but rather a "FUCh U Bert"  :P
