CCKnight (or any other Carleton poster :D),

How is this year's Carleton team different from those of previous years?  Has Ramler totally revamped offense and defense?  What type of offense are they running?

Maybe with a few wins under their belts, we'll get a couple more Hot Carls on the board???

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Duff,

According to our coaches, their offense is a combination of Urban Meyer and SJU.

Congrats to Carleton, I guess that new Ole poster better bite his tongue for now. Question to those at the game: Is Carleton for real or did Bethel play the worst game of their lives? I don't really feel like reading the last 10 pages. Looks like the Cobbers put up a hell of a fight and the Oles ran up the score to prove they can put up points just like SJU. Should be interesting to see how the MIAC turns out after all the dust settles.

D3Poll...

When LAX beats WWW, guess they'll just replace the Titans just as WW jumped the Johnnies in 2005.... would've certainly preferred WWW at home.

I foresee the same screw job in the post season as we saw last year with a stacked west and no brains from the NCAA seeding department...

Developing.....

You may just be one of the few people in D-3 who thinks they know who will win this match-up!  The Hawks and their fans are not looking ahead and that might be good advise for you since it appears that the Johnnies won by the skin of their teeth last weekend!   ;) :D ;D

What a day in Moorhead on Saturday.  All the weather forecasts were wrong as there was no rain, and if you can believe it, the sun was out for the entire fourth quarter.

The first three quarters were pretty ugly.  Kofoed looked good while he was in. Crees looked O.K., but he needs to get rid of the ball sooner.  He looked a little tentative out there, which I guess was to be expected.  The running game struggled again, with the exception of Patnode's 1 run.  Not to take anything away from Concordia, but the Johnnie O looked extremely un-inspired on Saturday.  They had one decent drive all day, and that ended with Crees throwing a wounded duck into the endzone for an interception.

After Concordia scored their TD, some of the  CC fans that had migrated to the SJU side (CC side was full), started commenting "Game Over".  I think about 99% of the fans thought the same thing.  However, the next 10 minutes, were absolutely incredible.  Everyone knows what happened, so I won't bore any of you by making my post any longer.

All in all, I guess we came away with a win, and that is all that matters.

Maroon&Gold,
Thanks for your take on the SJU/BU comparisons.  I'm not sure I understand your point about CC being a smack you in the face type of offense and BU being more zone, and then saying SJU is a tougher Defensive team.  I watched the BU/CC game and I think that BU's defense smack them all day long.  Maybe we are not talking about the same thing, but I do know this from what I saw, BU will hit you often and they don't let up!  Especially that number 37 and #2.  Doesn't really matter, I just looked up when the two play and that's not for another two months!!  Alot can happen between now and then!

I was referring to SJUs defesne against the two running games.  Concordia runs more of a base blocking, straight ahead scheme, whereas BU (I believe) runs a zone scheme which relies more on running back reads and cutbacks and is more of a finesse type of style.  I am not trying to say one style is better than the other, they both have positives. I just meant that the best way to neutralize SJUs defensive speed is to run it right at them (something we didn't do on the last play of the game).  I just think that SJU will have an easier time handling the zone running game because it allows their Defense to get out and run.

BU does have a good and very fast defense, I was not trying to take anything away from them.

"I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first."

M&G, what was your opinion on the one play CC ran where they brought in Scott Schumacher, 3rd string QB, and lined him up as one of the wing backs and I'm assuming were trying to run an option pass?  I personally thought it was quite obvious what the play was going to be, and judging by the result, an 8 yard loss, the Johnnie D knew what it was going to be as well.

I can only assume that they were really trying to throw the J's for a loop by having their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd string QB's all on the field at the same time.

Carleton's increased numbers and improved recruiting is starting to pay off.  We have more talent, that is more experienced, at more positions than times when our football team numbered in the low 40's.  There is both a new offense and a new defense but after watching the game on saturday it looked like the more important issue was the talent and experience level combined with the team being ran correctly.  Often times during the Brann era things looked like they were being run like a fire drill.  It looks like Ramler has everybody on the same page and that they seemed pretty confident in their roles both offensively and defensively.  On Saturday, the defensive line was spectacular, linebackers really great, and the secondary was solid.  Our offense needed to find consistency, but as noted by others, Bethel's defense is pretty good. Obviously one upset win doesn't erase question marks after years of futility, but as a Carleton alum who didn't like the way the program was ran under brann (other than the recruiting), the professionalism which ramler was showed on Saturday was impressive.

57 Johnnie,
Thanks!  Was looking at the SJU box score, did your QB get hurt??  See he only played in the 1st qrt.  I also see SJU had trouble stopping the running game of CC.  CC couldn't stop BU's running game the week before, yet they stopped SJU.  I'm assuming that SJU and BU will match up well when they play....

No, SJU and BU won't match up well.   SJU will run away with the game!  Nov. 11 Prediction----SJU  in a DOUBLE MONKEY STOMP!
