My dislike of Miedt originated with some of the things he did at Bethel when he was the O-Coordinater as Duff mentioned, and also from his interview for the head coaching position at Carleton.  Being an arrogant asshole to the potential future players you are interviewing with isn't the best way to get a job in my opinion.  I also know that he rubbed a few of the upperclassmen at Olaf the wrong way when he came in there as well.  All of that combined with some of the classless things he said to recruits about other schools, etc. that I've heard about since he's been at Olaf makes my dislike for him and thus Olaf even greater (there was obviously some dislike of Olaf to begin with having attended Carleton).

I wasn't going to bring any of that up, but since people asked I figured I might as well share my thoughts.

I think that the game between the johnnies and oles will probably be close, but I hope SJU stomps them again this year.

Ole Eagle

Duffman,

Don't remember saying Olaf was a "dynasty" but if you want to throw it out there, fine by me.

Second, is this poll a joke? I know its tought to admit any time St Johns loses to a better team, which is what happened in 2004 at Olaf, but this is just pathetic that the excuses are already coming in if St Johns does lose. I guess you can guarantee that no matter when the Johnnies lose, there is always an excuse.

Finally, CC Knight, ridiculous that you can say anything about Olaf considering the results over the past decade. See you in November.

DuffMan

Eagle,
I inferred from your comment that you thought of SOC as a dynasty.  My bad.

Poll - joke.  Have you not figured that a quite a few things on this board are said in jest?  SOC won in 2004 and anyone who saw that game knows that SJU did not deserve to win that game.  Was SOC a better team? I don't believe so, but on that day, they were, and that's what goes down in the record books.

That field was in horse**** condition, you've got to admit that, but both teams had to play on it, so I guess that's fair.

I don't really see how SOC beating Carleton for the past decade makes it ridiculous for CC Knight to comment on SOC.  I think he made some valid points and avoided slinging mud.

By the way, what's your excuse for the Ole's performance last year?  My assesment is that they sucked and had over-inflated egos from beating up on nobodies.

See you tomorrow.

John Gordon just said "Twins are still alive with two outs here in the ninth."

Yes, and I'm going to win the lottery tomorrow.

Turn out the lights.  The party is over.  Fun while it lasted.

Can't see the Oles losing this one after talking with the boys this week.

Someone needs an emergency trip to the optometrist so you will be able to see it happen tomorrow.

RE St Olaf:

Olaf is the new Bethel.  Anyone else remember Bethel in the early 2000's (and 2006)? Every year they would win a few games and get on a small roll and think they were God's gift to football a lock to be MIAC champs.

Then they come into the SJU (or Carleton game), get knocked back down to reality only to come back spouting the same BS the next year.

It's a vicious cycle for the Ole and Royal fans, but us Johnnies actually enjoy seeing the build up each year and the subsequent reality check. ;D

RE Twins:
ugggghhhhh.

Time to start getting ready for 2007.

Go whoever is playing the Yankees.

Besides the fact that Meidter's a prick and your obvious dislike of Um Ya Ya, why do the majority of you hate St. Olaf so much?
And finally, Olaf has a few winning seasons and people start to think that they're unstoppable.

I can appreciate overly-zealous fans being annoying, but it's good to see Ole students and alumni showing some passion for their team.  If anybody can appreciate passion for one's team sometimes going a little overboard it's Johnnie fans ;).  Now about St. Olaf returning to the depths of the MIAC consistently, I can't see it happening.  First, Matt McDonald taking over as AD a couple of years back was a huge step forward for the athletics department.  He's a very successful coach in his own right, see the baseball program, and as an alum bleeds black and gold (is that possible KR?).  Second, I can't imagine Meidter allowing anybody within or around the program settling for anything but a consistent spot at the top of the MIAC.  While I admit he has his faults, he also has a great football mind, is the hardest working coach I've ever been around, and does not accept anything but the best from himself or his players.  With that being said, enough serious talk from me.  Tomorrow's going to be a great day no matter what the outcome...but...GO OLES!

Do we know if the internet broadcast will be working tomorrow? :D

It is possible to bleed black in a few scenarios, but those are not compatible with life. ;D

One other thing.  I'd like to officially start the campaign for Wahoo3 to take over as the new Ole announcer or color-guy on KDHL.

I have my co-workers trained well. One of them just walked past my office on his way home and yelled "Go Johnnies"! ;D
