Did anyone happen to see who threw out the first pitch of last nights NLCS?

It was Darryl Strawberry!  Oh yes, that isn't a typo.

Obviously, if you have a good career, do cocaine everyday and go to jail for 2/3 of a year(each year).  Why not let him throw out the first pitch.  He represents the Mets well.  Any comments?

cobbernation....I hear what you are saying to a degree, but Straw really cleaned himslef up.  He's been a special hitting instructor for the Mets and their minor league affiliates for the last few years.  He's been clean for a long time, and has been ministering with his wife.  Doc Gooden was the one that never got cleaned up.  I think Straw represents second chances very well.

Too bad Steve Howe's not around.

Let's try this...

marriagehorserace.mp3 - 1.13MB

Reminds me of the stages of married sex life:
Stage 1: Unlimited wild passionate sex indoors, outdoors, in bed, on tables, floors, etc.
Stage 2: Sex limited to bedroom to avoid disturbing the kids
Stage 3: Sex limited to holidays and anniversaries
Stage 4: Sex limited to saying "F*ck you" when you pass your spouse in the hallway

Hey MR!  If you want to have a momentary bit of happiness, go to the NAIA website and check out the Top 25 rankings.

There are not one but TWO Bethels rated .  Just as another aside, Gags former team, Carroll, is rated #1

A blonde was driving down the street in a sweat because she had an important meeting and couldn't find a parking place.

Looking up toward heaven, she said, "Help me, Lord. If you find me a parking place, I will go to Mass every Sunday for the rest of my life and give up sex and tequila." Miraculously, a parking space appeared.

She looked up again and said, "Never mind, Lord. I found a place."

I thought some of you might enjoy this unbiased summary of last weekend's SJU/STO game, as published in the latest edition of the SJU Underground News...

It was a glorious day in Northfield, and I'm not only talking of the game's outcome.  It was a brilliant, mild Fall day — maybe even a bit warm for the players on the field — and the stadium was packed.  About a third of the Ole Homecoming crowd was wearing red, I'm pleased to report.  Before the game there was the feeling, no — firm belief, by the denizens of Manitou Stadium that St. Olaf was going to hand the Jays their heads on the proverbial platter.  They'd been so excited in the days leading up to the contest and in the minutes prior to kick-off.  It didn't take too very long for them to find out that their proud 'n heavy stats were a bit misleading, that they hadn't played SJU yet.  By halftime many of the students ringing the stadium had returned to their dorms to suck on lefse or whatever it is they suck on down there.  Alas, we did get to hear their waltz-time fight song, UM YA YA, a couple times more than necessary, but I thought they sang it without much vigor.  Let me tell you, however,  sitting in the stands next to their section, we were rewarded with a Survey Course in Thin, Young, Blond Nordic Beauty.  (UM YUM YUM 101 is my name for that course.)  Along that theme, we spotted an Ole grad wearing a sweatshirt that read, "ALUM YUM YUM"; pretty clever.  Has quite a bit more class and intelligence than the "Tommies Suck" shirts that so often abound in Collegeville.

Anyway, it was quite satisfying to leave Northfield with a convincing win.  And perversely satisfying to rub Ole Coach Chris Meidt's face in it, so emotional and strident and malevolent toward SJU is he.

What part of New York are you in? I hope you're not in Buffalo http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15247114/

Sucks to be them :'(

It just missed us...I guess Buffalo has power outages all over the place with 2 feet of snow....it was a narrow band of lake effect snow, so it wasn't widespread enough to hit the Rochester area...kind of wished I was snowed in today, watching a movie in front of a fire...oh well

Today it is going to be in the 70's and sunny. I have to find my sunglasses before I walk down to Starbucks. ;D Of course in about a week I won't see a blue sky/the sun for about 6 months... :P

I'll  bring the wild rice sausages and buns tomorrow along with two coolers of beverages.  If someone else wants to bring a meat/cheese tray or some sort of snacks feel free to do so.

I'll be arriving around 9 a.m. to make sure that the spot for the Pace Arrow isn't taken before Fins shows up.

TDT - I wasn't able to make the Ole game last weekend but I did listen to it on the radio.
Go Johnnies!!!

Yikes, Coach 4th-and-2-Own31 is ranked No. 5. Apparently that late charge to avoid the monkey stomp has energized the lefse flapping faithful of Northfield.

Maybe it is his crappy decision making that is making him a fan favorite. I know I appreciated it! ;D
