Regardless, its great to have the Troll trophy back at Olaf.... by far the ugliest rivalry trophy ever.

Got a picture of the trophy to post?

Tmerton: How was your weekend in Collegeville?  Did you behave?  I trust #2 son took you sightseeing on Saturday night in St. Joe....
Chasing MILFs since '82...

Wahoo,
Congrats on the Troll.

What's the reading on Al Groh after last weekend?

VOJ

Having seen every play of every Johnnies game this year a few observations:

1. Kofoed is fine...his thumb is not...and that is at least partly the reason for some of the wobbling throws.  When he had to late in Saturdays game he put zip on the ball, he did without a problem.  His decision making is very good...he is not throwing costly interceptions this year(knock on wood)hopefully that continues

2. The defense is not as good as last years...but its getting better.  Yes there are questions with regards to the corners and safeties.  But Jerry and Gary have great schemes and make solid adjustments...look at how they took away the bootleg pass to the TE and RB that worked for Gustavus on the first drive.

3. The offensive line pass blocks just fine...they are becoming a solid unit the guys who were starters last year that graduated were all-conference players, these guys are opening some holes and have allowed just 12 sacks in 7 games

4. Two of the final three games are in Collegeville...I know that the Johnnies can beat Hamline and well St. Thomas is St. Thomas, it will be a tough game but the J's always seem to either just pound them outright or beat them in the end.  Bethel could be tough...great defense according the stats a win ensures no worse than a two seed in the West and 1 if not two home games.  A loss could mean a trip to the Iowa conference champ to start or (gulp) St. Norbert who is doing well in the Midwest Conference.

I am thinking that the J's will go 10-0 and be the 2 seed in the west if WWW wins out,(tough games with UW-Platteville and Mary Hardin Baylor on the road) if not then its top seed and the road to the West Region Title runs though Collegeville.

FULL STEAM AHEAD!!

I haven't taken the time to figure out what Kofoed did on Saturday for you guys to get so down on him, but I agree w/ all of you and think that Crees should play out the rest of the season.  :)

I can't figure our the Cobbs. I'm a huge fan of their coaching staff and they have had recruiting classes of 70+ for the last few years. It seemed that they would have no problem filling the holes that were left by Shoe, etc. It just looks like their O-line still hasn't really come around and that whoever is playing at QB doesn't have the ability to make the same types of plays. I'm sure they will be back in the top 3 soon, but I didn't expect an off year.

Indeed, the troll is the not a good looking trophy.  But it was made by a man who was blind!  Impressive??  I think so!

Fins, Veek et al did a great job with the meats and fixins' for the game.  Small crowd but a nice sunny, though windy, day.  Enjoyed seeing/meeting everyone.

We're gonna miss the Pace Arrow for the Bethel game, especially if the wind is blowing as it was Saturday.  It's a terrific wind-break.

FYI, the CA kid on the team was not wearing long sleeves - though it looked like some of the MN kids were!  :o

I'll send ROR pics I took at the Festivities.

Did that CA kid stand next to the heaters for the full game? ;)

I'll be looking for the pics.  Thanks for covering for me.  It was just
killing me Sat. to not be in Collegeville.

Actually, the weather so far, including Saturday, has been right in his comfort range.  This ain't LA up here - it gets cold and wet by the end of fb season.  Now weather by the Bethel game and the playoffs might be different, but he's never really been cold-averse.  Time will tell.

TDT - After dinner the kids are on their own.  Love the big sign outside of Anton's though - "Fish and Whiskey."

Wow, I had no idea it was made by a bind man. Maybe because we haven't had the trophy very often over the last 20 years. That is truly impressive.

Cord Glory

A couple more thoughts on the Cobb/Ole game on saturday.

St. Olaf definetely has some weapons on the field - their QB put the ball where he needed to and their recievers made the plays they had to.
On offense for Cord, the only yards we could gain were on the 3-4 personal fouls on the Ole's for late hits.  Otherwise we basically couldn't do anythign on either side of the ball.

I also talked with a bunch of players after the game, and apparently in the 4th quarter, when the cobbs gave Williamson the ball on a dive play, Meidt could be heard yelling "Thats their starting fullback. Take him out!"

2-3 different players told me that same story, so you can take it how you want.  But absolutely classless if it is true.  Thats all I'm going to say.
To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

That's the kind of killer instinct you need to have to be successful. I mean, look at Larry Coker's squad.

I think that if I were in a huge intra-state-college football fight, the last thing I would use for a weapon would be my helmet.  I would actually double check to make sure its strapped on, and then go look for a training scissors or something.   Or possibly the first down marker.

I'd put some kevlar on a la 50 Cents. You never know what kind of violent criminal offenders you may encounter in a game between Miami and FIU.

Two true stories:

(1) One of my son's former high school coaches now coaches at a Calif. junior college.  During a drill one of his players took exception to something the coach said and said in return, "Man, you sound just like my probation officer."

(2) Another Calif JC reportedly has more than five players who wear electronic ankle bracelets.  Several have to leave practice early because the terms of their probation require them to be at their residences before practice ends.

Miami and FIU are probably not as different from those JCs as they like to think.

Yes, #68 was the model.  Couldn't you tell by the moss growing on his chin?
