A couple more thoughts on the Cobb/Ole game on saturday.

St. Olaf definetely has some weapons on the field - their QB put the ball where he needed to and their recievers made the plays they had to.
On offense for Cord, the only yards we could gain were on the 3-4 personal fouls on the Ole's for late hits.  Otherwise we basically couldn't do anythign on either side of the ball.

I also talked with a bunch of players after the game, and apparently in the 4th quarter, when the cobbs gave Williamson the ball on a dive play, Meidt could be heard yelling "Thats their starting fullback. Take him out!"

2-3 different players told me that same story, so you can take it how you want.  But absolutely classless if it is true.  Thats all I'm going to say.

If the story of Meidt telling his players to take out any player whether it's a starter or not, that is just terrible and unsportsmanlike.

(2) Another Calif JC reportedly has more than five players who wear electronic ankle bracelets.  Several have to leave practice early because the terms of their probation require them to be at their residences before practice ends.

Tmerton:

We actually have a high-school version of this here in Md. -- rich, white kid from one of the most affluent areas in the country (Bethesda/Potomac). They kid is getting recruited by top 5 programs including Ohio State. Accused of armed robbery of a smoothie store.

The strange thing is: the school district took the accused and transferred them to poor minority-majority schools elsewhere in the county.

Seemed odd to me. If you're innocent until proven guilty, nothing should have happened to these kids until there's a court decision. Instead, the pinhead brain trust affected a number of schools and changed the balance of power in two divisions.

---

On another subject, it appears by a quick count through the boxscores of MIAC contenders that  Meidt's boys are runaway leaders in PFs this season, including 5 in the past two games.

Smite me, Oles, but the numbers don't lie ...

I know that sign. Always makes me smile.  :)

If you've got your fish, and you've got your whiskey, I'd say you're pretty well good to go.

Antons...mmmmm!  I haven't had one of their popovers in quite a while.  Good food, but one time they forgot to make my steak, so when I got it finally, everyone else was finished eating :'(

Statement seems really out of character for any coach. Most likely, assuming it was even a coach they heard, they didn't hear the whole phrase such as "That's their starting fullback, Why don't they (CC coaches) take him out" as in it's 49-7 in the 4th quarter, why are they pounding their starter at our 2nd string defense in a lost cause?

I can't figure Concordia out. They play us tougher than nails and then get butchered by a less that stellar SOC team.  I would have had to wear shades if I had been there watching the game as both teams' uniforms are god awful.  If the SOC coach did as said, he needs to be fried.  Speaking from experience at the SOC game, the fans at least were rabid in their dislike for SJU fans and team.  It was to the point of getting after SJU fans for sitting in certain places.  If SOC can't compete with SJU, recruit better or get better coaches.  Such classless behavior from a MIAC school is not acceptable.  I'm sure SJU has had its own miscreants that have made the school look bad, probably including yours truly, so I'm not giving SJU a pass necessarily but it seemed pretty bad at the SOC game.

I am trying to figure out what CC should do losing 49-7, just take a knee? Throw passes with the second team QB and receivers?

Regardless, its great to have the Troll trophy back at Olaf.... by far the ugliest rivalry trophy ever.

Got a picture of the trophy to post?

RE: The big Meidtball

This story is as shocking and unbelievable as Bethel players throwing punches and playing dirty after the whistle.

oldtimefan,

If that was the case (playing the first-string offense against the second-string defense in a "lost cause"), then why did the Oles keep their first-string offense in against the second-string SJU defense and score 2 meaningless touchdowns two Saturdays ago?

You're right they did, didn't they? Of course, that was 24 points, not 42, not that there was much chance regardless. Personally, I don't have a problem with CC keeping the starters in. A lot of coaches do that if for nothing else, to give players some confidence who might have had a rough outing. If you're a backup running back, you might have liked a chance to carry the ball, however.
