Steffensmeier doesn't, but if you only follow the jersey numbers you may note that #8 also plays quarterback and even was kicking extra points at the beginning of the year.  And #47 can play both Defensive Line and Defensive Back at the same time!

We're not the ones saying the starters should be out-- apparently, that's Meidt's defense to this fiasco-- that Concordia should have pulled their starting offensive players even though St. Olaf doesn't have to even when they are down thirty points.  For the good of sportsmanship that's what I will believe, however.

So let me get this straight (no offense to any MAC or UST grads):

Playing your starters when you're getting beat by 42= poor coaching
Encouraging your players (likely starters) to injure another team's starting FB when the game is well in hand and you have no chance of playing that team the rest of the year= acceptable coaching???

Man, I only wish SJU was as lucky as St Olaf to have a classy Meidtball of a coach. [sarc]

If this is true, and based on prior precedent when he coached at Bethel and recent history in Northfield I would wager that it is, Meidt deserves every 37-21 (37-14 in the first 53 minutes of game time) and 63-9 loss he ever has and then some.

I usually avoid rooting for other MIAC teams in conference games that don't involve SJU's playoff chances or teams with names that end in -ommies, but I'm going to make an exception and cheer against Olaf for the rest of the season as well as the duration of Meidtball's tenure.

Write it down, you heard it here first; Carleton will win the battle of Northfield on Nov 4th!

You missed a game before then....how about BU/STO?  Come on, come on, it's OK, you can say it......Go _____ beat St. Olaf!!!!  You fill in the blank...

Here's a hint:  It's not SJU, UST, Hamline, Mac, GAC, NWC, Carl, CON, AUG..or any other D3 School and the first letter is "B" and the last letter is "L"

Ehhh... we'll see if I can muster up that phrase in the coming days. I did say "Go Royals" when they were playing the Tigers in the last game of the regular season on the day the twins also decided to stop playing for the year :-\

Which would have been great had he not been blocking himself.

Maybe your SID needs a little work...as for being a Johnnies supporter and chearing for the Royals...that is a tough cookie to swallow because a loss by Bethel would be better, eliminating them from the conference race and postseason play(which Bethel is not any good at anyway)...

Mighty Royal...funny story(well not for u) I was up at the Concordia-SJU game and they were announcing scores and both sides cheered when it was announced that Bethel was losing and had lost to Mighty Carleton.

Prediction....St. Olaf 17 Bethel 14...hmmm sounds like a familiar score from another Royals loss

Touchdown Tommy

Has anyone seen Doc Holliday?  KR? Duffman? anyone?  Pat even fixed his Karma rating at least once.  Hmmm...

Chasing MILFs since '82...

Anyone out there listen to the sound clip of coach Denny Green after the loss to Da Bears last night? So glad he is not coaching in Minnesota.

KFAN has been playing Denny's post game meltdown all morning.

Frickin' hilarious.  :D

I forgot to mention this earlier.  I caught a preview of one of the wonderfully obscene shirts for the Johnnie/Tommie game in 2006.

Front: USTD
Back:  The only thing a Tommie can catch or carry.

That is hilarious!! ;D

Whoa Nelly

I believe someone made reference to the Miami/FIU game being attended by a group of kids promoting an anti-gang initiative.  I heard this morning on the radio it was also "Salute to Florida High School Football" day and there were hundreds of high school athletes in the crowd.

Miami Football, making Florida State look good since 1981.

Seems to me that's asking a lot!  :-X  Guess it would sharpen the juices (what kind of mixed metaphor is that?) for the game on 11/11 though.

Well, have at 'em, play to the whistle and all that stuff.  Just don't relax too soon after the whistle is blown.  ;)

Let's see whether Miami has the cojones to do what FIU did.  (I doubt it.  The ACC is equally impotent.)

Yo gang.
Stiftungsfestivities are just not the same without JohnnieRed.
I was so spent after cooking burgers that I went home right after the game and fell asleep. Just woke up a few minutes ago. JR, I don't know how you do it.
Your grills, banner, cooler with meat, CD player and CD collection (such that it is) was sent back with Raiderguy as I thought he'd be closest to connect with you. Duff has your cooler. I am hearing the siren song of the northwoods grouse and will be skipping up to God's Country tomorrow night. Alas I will not be there to watch the hapless Pipers fall in a double stomp. My 2 tickets to the 1st responder...

What else? Oh yeah, I again felt underwhelmed after watching SJU on Saturday. Then I read the paper and look at the stats and, again, I find myself asking, "Why?" Seems like a weekly occurence. The other games I've seen have left a similar feeling. Am I just a spoiled fan? Is this like criticizing Tiger Woods for getting a par on one hole?
Kofoed's stats looked pretty good but there were times he missed open receivers, or got no protection, or ran around like he was getting pursued when he was not. I think the thumb still gives him trouble. All things considered, he's doing a fine job and is leading a 1st place team, so I'm just going to kick back and enjoy the ride. But it wouldn't surprise me to see Steffensmeier in contention for the Draddy trophy.

What else? Still waiting for the tmerton photos. Seems there's a correlation between the price of the equipment and the time it takes to post the shots. Tmerton, hire a kid to help you out with your million dollar camera. ROR, you are going to have a serious case of lens envy when you see this outfit!

What else? Oh yeah. Tommies suck. And Meidt's a dork.

You guys though...you're alright. 8)
