Is this MEA week in Minnesota?

ROR: Who are the Tornadoes playing?

TDT, This is indeed MEA week. High School playoffs start next Tuesday!

TDT - It's now reefered to as EM week I believe. Don't ask me why. But yes, it is EM weekend.

Basically, it means we're all just getting old and outdated.

Got a good TDT story for the board when I can find some free time. It's great working with a guy TDT grew up with.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

TDT, If you have any interest in MN high school sports here is a great website:

I think D-C has Litchfield tonight.  Watertown-Mayer has GSL.

"Wednesday Night Lights"?   Is mid-week fb normal for high schools in MN?

johnniepress

retagent,

I received a call from CBS last week that, due to last-minute cuts, Gagliardi will not be featured on the ARETE Honors as previously advertised.

Usually Friday nights, but this week all schools have Thursday and Friday off, so, they play Wednesday.  Then, playoffs start which is really screwed up.  I think they play Tuesday, Saturday, then Friday for Section championships.  Section champs then get to the State bracket.

A tradition unrivaled...

Just in mid-October, which predates two days of school off for all kids in the state due to teacher education conferences (formerly called MEA).  It also allows the MSHSL to fit three games in two weeks to get a jump on playoffs and elimination of teams.

By next Saturday night, there will be only 2 teams left in each section playing, times 8 sections per classification.

BTW, did anyone read Mason's comments this morning about Goopher fans?  I love gopher hockey, but as far as gopher football this week goes, GO BISON!

edit: sorry Duff, you beat me to it.

I won't be able to keep updates for the Cobber/Tommie matchup this week.  I will be attending the NDSU/UM game in the cities.

Gophers are a 24 pt favorite to win.

Prediction:

NDSU  35
UM      34

UM loses on a botched snap with less than a min. in the 4th!

GO COBBERS and BISON!

The Vicodin must be wearing off. Take 2 and work on some photos. :P

Speaking of Vicodin ... herewith an interesting story of a local Catholic high school run amuck (lawyers feel free to comment).  A girl's cell phone goes off in class.  Teacher confiscates the phone and then starts going through the girl's IMs.  Among the IMs she finds an exchange with a boy in which she thanks him for "the pill."  School then confiscates the boy's phone to read the IMs on it.  Turns out the boy had given the girl a vicodin b/c she was complaining of having some pain.  Both students are immediately suspended from all activities (he's the star tailback and LB on the fb team; she's a cheerleader), and the following week a faculty panel sets the length of the suspension at 12 weeks for him, 4 weeks for her.

WTF ???

I am not a huge Bison fan, normally! This week, because I am even less a Glenn Mason fan, I am a Bison backer!

I don't think the Bison have the horses to pull it off, but I will be cheering for them.

Cool website Sumander.  Thanks for that link.  When are the infamous bratwursts making their next Stiftungsfestivities appearance?  Speaking of the 'Festivities, JR you'll be glad to know they are now BIG TIME.  Referred by name during the radio/internet broadcast and Mark/Bryan/Wooderson sent their sincere thanks.,,

RE: Get Gearman the Ball Campaign

Just received an email from DustySJU.  Calls have been placed to The BEAR and Mark Lewandowski regarding the role of KG in the offense for further probing questions to Jim G.  He needs to start dominating games.  Very few opportunities this season for the reserves to play.  That is NOT SJU football.  Now I'll be the first to say "at this point" this is NOT a dominant Johnnie squad.  But October 18th doesn't matter.

Frank: Will you be picking up the Pace Arrow from the finsleft Palace on Saturday morning?  Seems like you could navigate it quite swiftly out to Collegeville.  Maybe shack up with a few choice Bennies in the luxury accomodations after 2am...

An APB has been posted for the Mongolian Warrior.  Please report back to MIAC PP of any sightings or dialogue you might have with Mongo....

Tmerton: Just curious, what type of law do you specialize in?  What is your take on this cell phone fiasco?  Seems like a huge lawsuit waiting to happen...

Sounds to me like they both need a lawyer.  Seem to me that the laywer wouldn't even need to be very good.
