Sorry if real-life facts get in the way of your punditry, DuffMan.

Not sure, Duff. But I think Pat just paid you a compliment.

From Dictionary.com:

punditry- opinions or methods of pundits.

Ok. So he called you a pundit, performing punditry.

pundit- source of opinion, a critic, a learned person.

There you go Duff. PC paid you a compliment.  :D

Like the saying goes, stats are for losers.  Take it from someone who was at the game, UST made the big plays when they had to, including special teams, so your long-distance analysis of the game means very little.

Knights try these stats on for size:   This is Don Roney's ninth season as the St. Thomas football coach. Wins over Augsburg and Concordia put his record in the MIAC at 50-24. Winning two-thirds of league games would seem to be a formula for significant job security. But there is one issue preventing that: St. John's.

Eight of Roney's losses and none of his victories have come against the Johnnies.
On Saturday...Make it 0-9... that plus you guys allowed over 4 yards per rush to the Cobbers, and you know what coming with them...your D is like Swiss Cheese Im almost thinking of upping my prediction...

The MIAC is similiar to the BIG 10  Ohio State the big ONE(SJU) and every once in a while they are joined by Michigan(Bethel/Concorida) and then the Little 9...where the Tommies sit.

Hey MR...the 15 yard walk off was for John going onto the field to protest the picking up of a flag against Hamline that was going to be for pass interference.  The Zebras decided not to penalize the Pipers and Gags got upset and threw his hat, as soon as the hat hit the field the penalty flag did...

I have met Steve Johnson and talked with him a few times...he is a very nice man, in fact I think most if not all coaches in the MIAC are good guys, with one exception...

Royals just go take care of business the next two weeks so we can have an honest to goodness MIAC title tilt in Collegeville on 11.11

I stand corrected!  But, I am sure in all the years of SJU football there have been late hits and "cheap shots" that have happened....it is going to happen, no matter what...IT'S FOOTBALL!!!

All the more ironic since clearly unintentional.

I must say though that the board is full of juice this week - my first experience of Tommie-Johnnie week so I think I'll just watch for the most part.  BTW, is there not some trophy awarded to the winning team along the lines of Floyd of Rosedale, the Little Brown Jug, or Paul Bunyan's Axe?  How about TDT's Barf Bucket or Zima Cozy?

Duff, if I remember correctly you said no chance in hell. There is a chance, though it's a small one. With the expansion to 32 teams last year the landscape shifted a little bit, there being more than twice as many Pool C bids and all.

Wilkes made the field last year with a loss to William Paterson, very mediocre. Cortland State made the field with a loss to Buffalo State. Paterson was 5-5, Buffalo was 3-6! You can't automatically assume that two-loss teams are out.

Tmerton, Last year was my first experience with Johnnie/Tommie week. What we need, for your benefit, is to have Kilted Rat or Duff post their repertoire of Tommie girl jokes!

Duffman, I actually asked the question both ways.  Any two loss teams first citing Olaf and Bu, and then just BU.  I think you answered the question.  I asked, and I expected the opinions of the posters on this board.  Good, Bad, or indifferent. You dont see a chance in hell of Bu getting in and I respect that.  Most of the comments of the BU year so far have been accurate.  The truth is, BU lost to Carleton. Game Over. It really hurt the season. I hope they win out and get a chance, but, KR, give me a break. Your telling me you actually see BU slipping to Hamline or Auggie Tech now?  And I would probably agree with Duffman that out of the two hundred and some odd teams with two loss records, their could bemore deserving teams out there than BU however I dont know who they would be.  With that said, I have attented every BU game this year, and have watched closely these games and have film on everyone.  TDT dosen't have a clue as to what he is talking about.  By far the cheap shot favorites are the Oles, and Tommies, and I have seen them both this year.  Against BU anyway, and the only thing the BU players did was laugh at them.  Aloud.  The entire time the flags were flying...  I read all the posts from SJU fans, and most are credible. Most have valid points, but I have never read a thing from the BU haters poster child that has had added any value to the subject.  "I hate Johnson. " Prolific TDT,   The cheap shot artists of the MIAC,  since when, I have whatched the games for 4 years and I dont see it AT ALL.   ( somebody must have punched TDT in the sack along the lines),  their students, their school,  How about their families TDT?  Are they alright with you?  They may not deserve a spot in the post season, but in the event they beat SJU on 11/11 I am sure you will blame it on something BU did.  Good Call Mighty Royal..... How can anyone in there right mind not recognize the Johnnies for their many accomplishments and know them as the class of the MIAC.  Year in and Year out, they have been the team to beat. How can you argue the fact you have had and do have so many great players,  Gearman, Steffensmeier, Kofoed. But to bus Porta for breaking the MIAC record above all the great runners before him, not only shows  your total lack of respect for the MIAC, but your worthless one sided takes on the only team you think worthy of conversation.   By the way the NJAC PMd me, they would love to have you..... too much good football talk going on.....

I suppose those jokes have a small audience in your household?  What will the kids do to bait each other this week?  ::)

I am just glad they are not at home doing the baiting! I am sure this means more to the J than the T.

Why does this remind me of one of the all time great movie scenes from Dumb and Dumber?...

Lloyd: What are the chances of a guy like you and a girl like me... ending up together?
Mary: Well, that's pretty difficult to say.
Lloyd: Hit me with it! I've come a long way to see you, Mary. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances?
Mary: Not good.
Lloyd: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?
Mary: I'd say more like one out of a million.
[pause]
Lloyd: So you're telling me there's a chance.

Wonka--I dont remember ever listening to Jimmy Eat World...Pantera, maybe.  Or perhaps I dont remember due to Hamms.

Someone better bring a camera to the SJU/UST game, I'd like to see pics of the festivities, especially if tailgaters are in full Halloween gear
I'd post a lot more if I had a real job
