I feel like a train hit me in the head...

Frank, I feel you.

I finally got some tacos at Taco Johns and I feel pretty good now, but this afternoon was rough!  It's bad when you can still taste Jagermeister in your mouth at 6:00pm.

Duffman:

As Dusty, Carbo & myself a.k.a. "The Three Wisemen" sat together at the UST game we couldn't help but wonder what Duffman was thinking of the SJU Offense. Outside of the turnovers, which are not acceptable, things seemed to flow pretty well. Patnode does need some new or different shoes. Kofoed 1.)kept the ball on the option several times. 2.) Limited his rolling right, throwing left while throwing off his back foot. 3.)Spread the ball around well to 11 different receivers that I can think of. ***To OAS, those 11 were not on the field at the same time. The Johnnies play by the rules and have 5 linemen at all times ;D

There was enough on the game film to keep Bethel and any potential play- off opponent's heads swimming for some time. Did you notice that Luberts ran out of the "Blake Formation"? We know Jerry has the "D" peaking at the right time. I think John & Jimmy will have the "O" peaking at the right time as well!

Thanks, ROR.... were there any "contests" to write home about?

No "contests" of any kind.  Most of the participants from last year were absent.  Those present were encumbered by wives, girlfriends, etc.  :'(

Encumbered?  Steph filmed the contests last year and has been known to shotgun a beer or two herself.

What makes you think I was speaking of you?   ;)

I didn't sense a lot of enthusiasm for any contests.  Myself included.

Yeah, sorry about that.

I've been working on this freelance project from hell and my partner needed my attention this afternoon until about 10:30.

I am synced the photos as best I could and am now editing the 1952 photos now. Through 400+ I have 227 set for the gallery. 4 photographers are hard to edit for but I'm working on it.

Please accept my apologies. Dave, Scott and I all shot the Dome Day on Friday and I was editing until 5am Saturday morning. This weekend the last two years has sucked all the life out of me.

And we'll have a Phlog from this game about an hour or so after the photo gallery goes live.

The White Silly

hey gotta question here...anyone know what Blake Elliot and Ryan Hoag are up to these days?...i know Hoag was on the Vikings preseason roster and didn't make the cut ( i was impressed with what i saw him perform in preseason games)....and I haven't heard anything of Elliot since he was injured in Training camp back in 04' i believe...any updates?  just curious...had the privelege of playing against both of them and they were both studs...are either of them playing at any level professionally anymore?  D3 should start a webcast show of "Where are they now?"....good times

Haha. That photos so old.... I think Blake Elliot was still a Johnnie going to class each morning.

Although I do miss those days and thank you.

658 of 1354 of 1952 done. Also I'll have a "shirts in the crowd" posting tomorrow or Tuesday.

thanks again TMerton.

GAC faithful,
Who will stand out the most for off/def for this weekend's game?

With your running offense, I'd imagine DT Nick David and LB Jared Sieling (younger bro of Isaac) will be around the ball all day. GAC is much better at stopping the run than the pass, as Augsburg found out from one half to the other. If I was the opposing team, my game plan would be like P.Manning did today to Darrent Williams with CB Brian Evans.

On offense...the Gusties really haven't established an identity that I can tell. QB Stolp apparently has the potential to be great, but seems to shoot himself in the foot more often than not (RE: career TD/INT ratio). GAC rotates 3 guys in at RB, though the stats say Mitch Anderson has been far-and-away the most productive. WR Chad Arlt and Kerry Zajicek are about the other two guys you have to worry about in the passing game. If you look closely, you might be able to tell where Stolp is throwing as he makes his pre-snap reads and, given the way the stats bear out, doubling one guy late might lead to multiple Roethlisberger-like throws.

With the way the Cobbs seem to be struggling with an identity as well, I think it should be a good game. If I were Horan, I'd get game film from the Doggies and erase the second half. The first half was the best you'll see the Gusties play this year I'd wager, with the second being close to the worst.

As for Hoag, he was in GAC coaching gear this last weekend. I think he was up in the booth. He hasn't heard anything since his Sid reported his last tryout to my knowledge.

PS - How's that for an informative post at 2:15 am on daylight savings weekend (meaning it's really 3:15)? :)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

1080 is the final count. The Phlog will have to wait until tomorrow seeing as it is 3:22 and I won't get the gallery online until at least 4:30.

Thanks for your patience everyone.

*UPDATE* The gallery is now up. Goodnight everyone.

White Silly, Blake is working for a real estate development company here in Carver County. He seems to be enjoying it. It was great seeing him at the Tommie game on Saturday.

VOJ

IF Whitworth beats Linfield...

1. Whitewater vs 8. Wartburg
2. SJU vs 7. St. Norbert's
3.Central vs 6. Wis-Lax
4. OCC vs 5. Whitworth

If Linfield wins saturday...

1. Whitewater vs Whitworth
2. SJU vs 7. St. Norberts
3. Central vs 5. LAX
4. OCC vs 6. Linfield

The seeds change a bit and Wartburg is out...or if the NCAA rewards Wartburg with a Pool C bid, maybe OCC is moved to the South?  Then you would have...

1. Whitewater vs Wartburg
2. SJU vs 7. St. Norberts
3. Central vs Lax
4. Linfield vs 5. Whitworth...

If the unthinkable happens and Bethel wins on the 11th...you could have some major movement...with OCC headed to the south, SJU would be at Central in the 1st round?

Knights, here's my honest assesment of your club:

I agree with a lot of what has been said.  The Tommie offense was very white bread.  There was really no offensive threat.  Sauer made some nice throws and he has good size, but he didn't seem to have any weapons to go to.  The running game was non-existent and it was tough to judge the passing game when the SJU d-line was on top of Sauer all day.

Defensively, you guys are pretty decent.  Got to give credit to UST when the Johnnies have the ball deep in the red zone three times in a row and they get zilch out of the deal.

I, too, questioned some of UST's coaching decisions.  I'm still confused when they were running plays with under a minute left in the game.  Oh well, SJU got a few more sacks out of it.

Overall, the Tommies are an average team and should be proud of the record that they have this year.

I didn't really think about it at the time, but you're right, we did some things very well on offense.  I hope we can keep those things up and eliminate the turnovers.  We really struggled to finish drives, but we moved the ball really well for the most part.  That Dimond kid at tackle is big.  Don't know how dominant he will be (watching o-linemen is boring), but I hope he becomes a force.
