Willy Wonka

For those grossed out by Frank's link, try this one on for size. Gustavus won by averaging 2.9 yards-per-play and a minoot (sic) 0.85 yards-per-carry.

Wonka is glad cobbernation is the only poster who decided to spend his Saturday watching this debacle. The Cobbers and their rotating door at QB must be terrible.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Are the Concordias really this bad?  It almost feels like they are tanking the season on purpose in hopes of having the first pick of NDSU transfers that will inevitably end up dominating at SJU.

cobbernation - Are the Cobbers really this bad? Why can't they settle on one quarterback?

Concordia is not tanking the season on purpose, just turnovers ultimately hurt their chances of scoring.  It's tough when you have a nice 50-70 yd drive stalled by a fumbled snap or pic in the redzone.  The cobbers have just have a tough year, but they will bounce back.

The Cobber QB shuffle went from 1 to 3 today.  Nelson started the game, was doing fine but then had 2 pics in the next 2 drives.  Setting up the only score of the game.  Then shuey came in the 3rd q.  and didn't do to much.  So with about 10 min. left in the game Horan gives our 3rd string QB a shot.  He didn't do too bad for his first action of the season.  He is about 6'3" 200lb kid from Litchfield.  He runs fast and can throw the ball a mile.

I know you all must be asking why didn't he play sooner if he is fast and can throw the ball.  Your guess is as good as mine, I thought he should've been given a chance sooner.  He is one of those athletes, he will be seeing a lot of time next year as a QB, WR, or at RB.   Thats all I got from Moorhead.

Sure is a quiet gameday here without the Johnnies playing.  Maybe we really do make the world go 'round...

I was thinking the same thing. I go, wow, only three pages since this morning? That's a bye week. Hamline is bad. Lose 35-7. Developed....

Oh guys you don't have any idea.  It is a delicacy here...

Hey Buckman: Your job is to bring 3 dozen of Sumander's brats to the tailgate next weekend.

Thanks your President

TDT,

Freshwater drum or saltwater?  I had always been taught that sheepshead were garbage fish, but, this summer, I had heard from several people that they're actually tasty.  Needless to say, I was curious, so I filleted one or two out, and they are great!  Every bit as tasty as those crappy walleyes that everyone covets.  I'd recommend giving it a shot.  Also, I discovered that lake sturgeon love hunks of sheepshead!

Well, I imagine we'll get an onslaught of BU posters in this coming week.  This will be followed by a Monkey Stomp by the Johnnies on Saturday, and then we will never hear from any of them except MR and RA till the next time BU carries a winning record into a BU/SJU game.

7 days (I really wish I could insert a clip of Europe's "The Final Countdown" right here, but you get the idea)

Bethel is bad.

Duffy: Saltwater sheepshead.  These ones this morning were monsters.  They sit in a "Pass" that goes from a bay to the Gulf of Mexico.  They are extremely tasty, these guys are rookies who would argue otherwise.  I've also seen huge schools of Tarpon and Gag Grouper in the same area when the tide is going out they sit in the Pass and face inwards eating all the bait fish they want as they head out to the Gulf.  Gotta be very quiet and wear the polarized sunglasses and you could literally net them from the shore standing on rocks.  It is unbelievable.

Brats will be provided by Manea's Meats in Sauk Rapids.  Hopefully this will do for everyone.

There will also be a healthy supply of Jello shots and a large jar of cherry bombs that have been soaking for 2 weeks now, 3 weeks come Saturday.

Has anyone seen this Fritz Waldvogel kid from St. Thomas Academy?  I saw some clips of him on the KARE 11 prep show last night.  He's only a junior but he reminded me a lot of a guy that recently wore a #2 in Collegeville.
Go check him on iTunes.  You can download the KARE 11 Prep show.
He might look awfully good in the Natural Bowl in a couple of years.

Wow-two losses on one day-don't be too depressed come Saturday night-MR. ;D

Johnnie Red

Sounds like we should be covered for the brats and, of course, the Stiftungsfest burgers. I will order some extra pork chops for the Johnnie Red re-election party Friday night and bring some of those along to add to the menu on Saturday.

Ritz, great poem. Thanks for doing it.

Nice day at St. Olaf yesterday for the state high school cross-country meet. I got to meet the Bethel cc coach, who was there with his team. He asked me if I would be attending the NCAA Division III regional cross-country meet this coming Saturday at St. Olaf. I told him there was a football game in Collegeville that I was going to attend. That brought a smile to his face.

I have an idea for 2 different marketing experiments.

First we all know Bethel Football is bad. Frank even has a shirt that spells it out... so it must be true!

Front of shirt: "Bethel Football is Bad"
Back of shirt: "Indiana Football is Worse"

Next idea: MR, just signed off :"Way to go Royals, flush the Johnnies next weekend!!!!!"

I would venture to guess if we all use the phrase "Royal Flush" through this week the Google ad on top of the page will switch to gambling or casino sites.

This week is going to be boring, we all know the conclusion-Johnnies dominate in every aspect of the game. Royals fumble, bumble and stumble themselves back into reality.

Johnnies win going away....phone it in!

St.Cloud Times Headline: Johnnies Hand Royals a Flush...Win Going Away
When interviewed after the game several SJU players noted that Bethel just kept handing the Johnnies all the right cards at the right time. The victory was too easy.
One Johnnie player was quoted as saying "I knew they couldn't dance at Bethel, but I didn't know that they couldn't play cards either"
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

BDB

Here's the MONKEY STOMP back SJU fans.

We borrowed it yesterday since you weren't using it and WW stole it from us and wooped our butts with it.   :-[

The thing is powerful and not to be entrusted with teams that aren't ready for it.

Thanks anyway.  :-\

JR-
Made my way down to St. Olaf as well to see my brother run in his last HS meet, beautiful day, best that I've been to in three years.  Even though his team didn't place as high as they were hoping it was a great race for all the guys.  Long tiring day but it was fun, I saw the Bethel team out there as well.  Must have been a week off for the teams since there were a lot of Alums that run on other MIAC teams there.  When the SJU posters take off for the weekend, the pace in here dies.  Should be some good reading this week as the big game approaches.  Can't wait for Saturday!!
