I think BU will be the 4 seed and host a first round game.

Mr, Phils injury is not thought to be serious.  Everybody feared knee, it was a ankle, and if it got close he was prepared to return.  thank you Jared Bangs...

Thats good to hear about Porta.  I hate to see anyone get hurt.  Any news on Beaver from UWW.  Will his prediction of being in the playoffs come true?

DutchFan2004...

During the broadcast today, the WW announcers said that Beaver had begun running again and would begin practicing this week wearing a red, no-contact jersey.  They failed to speculate if/when he might return to contact. They gave the impression that he would return at some point.  However, take away the UMHB game, they have been running just as effectively w/o Beaver.  310 rushing yards today.  This kid Brady Pittz has 2 straight games with about 150, and the freshman Underwood had over 80 today, too. They've been ok.

I hate to throw another wrench into the equation, but Occidental is down 30-21 with 12 minutes left in the 4th quarter....

johnniepress

Geez, nevermind. Whittier (2-7, 1-5 SCIAC) blew a 30-14 lead and lost 34-30 to Occidental.

Anybody have details about the Porta injury?

Was he carried off the field? (not letting weight on his injured leg) or did he limp off?

Mighty Royal

P.S.  Would BU have a home game for the first round?  Also, if BU hadn't lost to Carleton, what might their ranking be?  (not that it matters, but just curious)  No doubt about it, but I think they should be ranked in the top 25 now?

MR-

Porta was carried off the field but after that I'm sure others have better info than me.  It looked like he was getting it wrapped and was limping around the bench, but thats all I saw.

royalachilles - This is Willy Wonka on Frank's account. I, along with TDT, am unable to post under my current name due to the general suckiness of Frank's computer. However, we've been ripping him nonstop about today's debacle and he's been rightfully chastised, believe you me.

As for the game...I'll keep the comments short since my head is about to explode (90% chance I'm allergic to TDT). Fun to watch. Wetzell sucked balls in the first half but made the throws when it counted. BU ran all over SJU, which surprised me.

If both teams get in and play like that next week, it'd not surprise me if their stays are shortstayed (per usual for Bethel). Both QBs were very inconsistent.

They re-wrapped Porta's ankle after the injury and he was walking on it, but no running.  With the way Bangs was playing, they weren't in any hurry to get him back.  The Fergus Falls trio of Bangs and the Carr brothers had quite the impact.  Go Otters!

I have to admit (and I'll lose karma for this) that it was fun to (monkey) stomp on the SJU at midfield after the game.  It's been a long time coming...

Looking forward to the rematch in the playoffs (personally, I hope the Johnnies are still selected to the playoffs...)

Pat's projecting St. John's as the last team in.  Yikes.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is taking it on faith. Franklin has better numbers and Cortland State has basically the same numbers and ended the season on a better note.

Good luck tomorrow. Hope for you guys' sakes they display the West bracket first and remove all doubt.

Pat,

Didn't you say that past performance is not one of the criteria in selecting playoff teams?

Wow, someone's grapes are sour.

Sour grapes would be if SJU lost and I claimed that I never cared if they won in the first place.  My grapes are definitely not sour.  You may say I'm a sore loser, but in the face of AO's  relentless bile, sore losership may be a long bow to draw as well.

Anyway, it sucks that we lost.

It may have been fun, but it disappoints me that BU fans couldn't be more gracious in victory.  Quite frankly it's a classless display, the kind of thing players from "Thug U" (Miami) would do.

Off the soap box now, I couldn't be more proud of the BU players and coaches for a wonderful display.  A great performance in a hostile environment with everything to play for and overcoming alot of adversity.  On this Veteran's Day, this former Royal salutes you.

I too would like to see SJU in the playoffs, but I think if the commitee chose to leave them out they would not be out of order.  "Quality losses" don't have nearly the pull that wins against regionally ranked teams do.  Having said that, I think the commitee would be wise to remember what SJU did with its Pool C bid in 2000 (should have won Stagg Bowl).  I don't think this year's SJU team is nearly as good as the 2000 team, but it's something to think about.

Greetings to all who were at Stiftungfest today.  Missed being there but Guam is just to far away to make the trip.

Carl, welcome back and, as always, thanks for serving our country. Hope all is well with you.

Congrats to Bethel on the win in Collegeville. I must admit it was very difficult to watch the second half. :P Comparable to watching what Whitewater did to us last season. I only hope this can be the worst game of the season for the Johnnies and we do get the opportunity this afternoon for some more games to redeem ourselves.

Thanks to everyone who joined us at the Stiftungsfestivities. This was a great year for the tailgate parties.

Anyone ready for some Dutch letters? It would be great to make the trip to Pella next Saturday. Dear Lord, make it happen for the Johnnies. :)
