KR a true fan, thanks for the response.

My Thoughts on the West Region:

-The West Region is the toughest Region in DIII football along with the OAC/North Region.

-The West Region has six of the top twelve teams in DIII football according to national rankings.

-The north region has the seeding right with Mount Union #1 and Capital #2 as would hold true with national rankings.

-If we're going to seed this thing and carry some kind of national rankings impliacation the West Region would have turned out like this (assuming Bethel is ranked ahead of St. John's based on head to head competition):

#1Whitewater vs. #8 St. Norbert
#2LaCrosse vs. #7 St. John's
#3Whitworth vs. #6 Bethel
#4Central vs. #5 Occidental

Due to travel purposes I can see where Whitworth would play Occidental however that would leave Bethel with the Dutch.  In terms of national seeding Bethel gets hosed for beating St. John's however there has to be some sort of penalty for losing to Carleton, right?

-A conference champ should either never have to go on the road to face a Pool C team, or they should seed this thing nationally like they did in the North Region.

-The West is tough and there will be no easy games or blowouts other than possibly the St. Norbert/Whitewater tilt and to be the best you have to beat the best.

Bethel gets hosed for beating St. John's?

Hell, they made the playoffs for beating St. John's!   :-*

Who is barry ??? I'm confused

It's me, 105.  Barry = short form of Barrister, or one of my wife's nickname's for me.

Wonka, I'm with CM on this one-- after the Lofboom trip and fall along the right sideline, Jimmy G calls an isolation play to Gearman on the short side of the field (predictible-- throw iso in the endzone to your best receiver on the first chance), a pass intended for Giesen on the short side of the field (handcuffing) and a screen to Patnode, again, on the short side of the field (against a reasonably quick Bethel defense, the sideline was clearly their 12th man on a screen play).  Either we can't go left, or Jimmy really likes the (right) short side of the field.

We stopped running the ball.  We had 3rd and a short 3 twice in the third quarter (once after a 7 yard run from scrimmage on first down) and went to throw the ball, and both times incomplete.  When your defense had been on the field the rest of the quarter, at least keep the clock running and RUN THE BALL.  He'll blame special teams for field position, but if you are averaging 3 yards per carry (which they are), chances are one of those two times you make the first down.

In addition, I think the point "nuggs" made about the #1 in the SJU logo was misunderstood by subsequent posters - I think it was a valid point.

The only thing valid about "nuggs" point was the period at the end of his sentence.

If you had been there, and that inculdes KR, you would have witnessed the ridiculous nature of their behavior.

I'll take your word for it. Hopefully that image was burned into the minds of the SJU underclassmen and will be brought back up before next years BU-SJU tilt!

I'd love for Bethel and SJU to meet back up this December, but Bethel would need to win their 1st and 2nd playoff games ever to make that happen so I won't hold my breath.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

The seating at Schipper field is pretty good.  I am not sure what the visitor seating is but they go from the 25 to the 25 and maybe 20-25 rows deep.  Then there is plenty of grass to sit on chairs or stand and watch on the sidelines The North endzone is sloped and makes it bowl shaped.  I think seating is listed at 5000 for the whole thing.  KR you should be able to get in.  Yes my son is planning on coming from Des Moines.

Sorry I was thinking of the regional poll.  That was totally different than the D3 poll.

On a post yesterday, it was suggested that no one could see this coming . . . Bethel over Saint John's.  If you were in Moorhead in September you would have seen this coming.  For three quarters Saint John's did very little offensively, and were held in check by an average Concordia team.

I think Bethel had, and has, the dominant team in the conference, and without a misstep against Carleton would have won the conference outright.  Saint John's on the other hand has had a few games that could have gone either way.

Make no mistake, historically Saint John's is the benchmark that all other conference program are measured against.  But the number three ranking was a little lofty for this year's team.  8)

I couldn't agree more, but you never know what will happen with two teams until they meet on the field. If SJU doesn't fumble the ball in the second quarter a play after falling on a fumble, the momentum doesn't shift and maybe SJU wins outright.

johnnie_esq

I agree with PI.  Bethel won the game and the head-to-head, but calling them dominant is a bit much, as a former Johnnie in Northfield would have something legit to say about that.

Both the Johnnies and Royals are MIAC co-champions.  So let's have them both share the title and talk playoffs.  Can the Royals run on a WIAC squad?

Bethel has a long way to go to be considered dominant.

I wish both SJU and Bethel the best in the playoffs!  They are both quality teams that play with alot of class and play the game the right way.  This is the time of the year that we all cheer for the MIAC, and hope that whatever teams are in the playoffs can show what we are made of.  Good luck and play for the rest of us back here in Minnesota that weren't as fortunate to make it to the "big show"

KR, I am sure Dutchfan knows what he is talking about, but in the event you hear different, I know the main man in charge in the Athetic Dept.  Let me know if you have troulble, and I can get you tickets and probably a parking pass close.    As to a bowl like field, harldy anything like the Johnnies, and the visitors stands are small.  Good luck, the very least I can do for tearing up your field.  I would love to see a rematch of the BU/SJU game, and I wonder if necessary where it would be played, I assume BU. Pella is not but 45 minutes drive from Des Moines and I expect this one to be a mismatch, as the Dutch had a pretty good schedule, and I expect a pretty pissed off Johnnie team to rip Pella up.  Good luck, and in the event we do meet up in Arden Hills later in the playoffs, and should you win, you guys can carve the BU from the field and take it with you.....

Ritz - You're gonna owe Dinny an apology on the trip to Lambeau. Your special concoction needed about 24 hours to work its magic on his tummy, but it finally got the job done on the drive home today  :D

Apologies on the Weber mistake. I was too busy trying to stay warm and plan my attack on the SJU logo to snag a program or listen to the loudspeakers.

That said, I find it funny that SJU can complain about rolling up 309 yards against the "best" defense in the MIAC when my Gusties put up 164 against that vaunted defense of the Carlies. The Johnnies have the second-best yardage stats in the conference, besides run-it-up STO, and the best scoring offense in the league, while the history-rich Gusties finish barely ahead of Carleton and Hambone. The Johnnies were a bad drop and a stumble away from winning Saturday's game. If I were an SJU fan, I'd be MUCH more concerned about the defense than anything that was or wasn't done offensively...but leave it to a CSB basketball fan to call for heads after a 9-1 season  ::)

When was the last time a team won two straight road games with under 175 yards on offense? Kudos to Brian Bergstrom and the GAC defense for carrying the team to four straight wins to end the season.

Name to watch for next year: GAC WR Chad Arlt. While much of his (56-765-6) and Stolp's (3 straight years with more INT than TD) stats came in garbage time as we were blown out by any good team we faced, his season is Top 5 in GAC history. Clearly, the numbers are skewed in the pass-happy offense, but hopefully he can do the same thing in close games next fall.

NOW the BU posters can feel free to take potshots at TDT. He's clearly been home and had time to weigh in.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.
