Just noticed you guys talking about the Stam Award and looks like lots of folks aren't sure what it is. [This is out of former head coach Bob Sullian's recent book, "Knights of the Gridiron"]

The award is named for Mike Stam, a former Carleton standout who was tragically killed in a snowmobile accident on Jan. 21, 1988, one day shy of his 21st birthday during his junior year. A late bloomer, he was largely considered the most dominant defensive lineman in the MIAC in 1987 and was All-MIAC. A NFL scout, Murray Warmath, told the Carleton staff he felt like Stam might go as high as the fourth round in the NFL Draft. At 6'3" and 263 pounds, he ran a 4.7 40.

The award came about after a memorial fund was set up in his honor. Coach Sullivan asked what they wanted to do with the money, and they felt Mike would want an award honoring the top lineman in the MIAC, since he felt linemen rarely got their due.

Hope that helps educate some in their references to the Stam Award.

BUdefense-  I know  you miss Bethel football but, your random comments are somewhat disturbing.  We would all be better off if you'd either A)discuss your negativity with those you struggle with B) share about the various struggles you had personally at Bethel resulting in criticism from board members or C) Give true insights such as the comment regarding the players you've talked to about Saturday.  I know you'll take offense to this however I feel all this talk is quite hypocritical and figured the coaches and namely players do not need to see this.

First, you take MIACPP too serious- do you really think the coaches waste their time reading this? Do you think the coaches let the players read this?? PLEASE- the next thing you'll be telling us puppies are cuter than kittens ;)

Let BUdefense vent his opinions. There were plenty of SJU opinions last weekend about play calling. This is a place for the "has beens" and "never was" to socialize. Remember D3 Football is an ESCAPE from the real world. Our everyday problems will still be there when we are done reading this board.  8)

MR,

I can't believe I am doing this (defending anything ND) but you might want to give Charlie Weiss a break. He had complications from (help me KR sp) gastric bypass surgery and nearly died. Complications from that has affected his legs. That is why he has a limp. I can't give you the details but it was on his interview on 60 Minutes earlier this year.

I think you're right that it was Gastric Bypass, and yes you spelled everything correctly! Good to see the MUC(k) alums are in playoff form!
We have a surgeon in Des Moines who did Gastric Bypass on many poor surgical candidates who never should have been on the table and ended up with a 45% complication rate and a 20% mortality rate.

OR...

IOWA - 24
MINN - 14

;D

While both teams suck this year, I kinda doubt both Minnesota and Iowa can score negative points this weekend.

In the only Division I game that matters this weekend:
UM: 10
OSU: 34

In the only real game that matters:
Central: 10
SJU: 17

I keep forgetting you're from Ohiyo.  :-[

I tend to think we'll be looking at a Bucs-Sucks BCS championship game (you can't spell suck without a U, an S and a C), so you and Summander can worry about who'll win.  (And if we're all really unlucky we could be treated to a UM-ND rematch, which I happen to think would suck as well.  :P)

At this point in the season, UND deserves to be gifted into the National Championship game about as much as SJU or Bethel deserve #1 seeds.

If such an outcome came to pass my loyalties would be divided! I have always favored the Buckeyes over the Maize and Blue!

If we had a UM (skunkbears, I believe you called them TM) and ND match up it would be a no-brainer for me. I wouldn't care enough to watch it!!! ;D

Something tells me that may be the first use of that phrase in the history of the English Language.

I'll have my researchers look into it.

* Update, the phrase "Well-hung sexagenarians" with or without hyphenation does not match any webpages on google search.

For my buddy Kilted Rat as he hits the books in Iowa, to some day be a Doc.

Two medical students were walking along the street when they saw an
old man walking with his legs spread apart.

One of the students said to his friend: "I'm sure he has Petry
Syndrome. Those people walk just like that."

The other student says: "No, I don't think so. The old man surely
has Zovitzki Syndrome. He walks just as we learned in class."
Since they couldn't agree they decided to ask the old man. They
approached him and one of the students said to him: "We're medical
students and couldn't help but notice the way you walk, but we
couldn't agree on the syndrome you might have. Could you tell us what
it is?"

The old man said: "I'll tell you, but first you must tell me what
you think "

One of the students said: "I think it's Petry Syndrome."

The old man said: "You thought.......... but you are wrong."
Then the other student said: "I think you have Zovitzki Syndrome."

The old man said: "You thought.......... but you are wrong.
So they asked him: "Well, what do you have?"
The old man said: "I thought it was GAS........... but I was wrong."  ;D
