so RT wants to know who, in general, do the midwest fans root for in an Ohio St/Michigan matchup? (in absence of a MN team vying for the big 10 title). Does Mich get the nod due to geographic proximity??

RT:
I can not speak for anyone else, I am just rooting that the M & M & M boys ( AD, FB Coach & BB Coach) at the University of Minnesoat are all looking for jobs next year. Year after year the blue chip Minnesota kids go out of state & play for Wisc. Notre Dame, Ohio State,etc... and the Goophers linger at the bottom of the Big-10. Thank God for D-3 football,MIAC & ST. John's(not necessarily in that order) as the Gophers play in another meaningless Bowl game that it costs the University more money to send the travel party than they receive from the appearence. What bowl game is it this year, The Sucks-a-Lot Bowl vs. the 8th place MAC Conference team?
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Interesting perspective. Why do you think the top MN kids leave? UM, from what I hear, is a great school. I visited there when I was in HS...my sister and her husband lived in Minneapolis when he was doing his residency. If UM is losing kids to FL or CA, that's one thing with the climate argument...but losing kids to Ohio St, ND, Wisc - ie, other midwest teams, what's up with that??

The one thing that would turn RT off to UM is the stadium...on TV, the turf remindes me of the old vetrans stadium in PA. Did they upgrade that yet? Plus, there's no character to that dome, for college games at least

Just got updated word as to the Charter to Whitworth.  The price is $309 as Veek noted, but there is also a $21 handling fee added on top of that, so the full price is $330, which includes airfare to and from and a bus to Whitworth.  Pretty reasonable for the good time that you'd have in the NWC!

Departure time will likely be around 7 am-ish, but that will be firmed up tomorrow.  As I understand, operators are standing by-- including Kelly, who does a wonderful job with Hobbit travel in organizing these Johnnie trips-- at (612) 252-7511.

Don't delay-- call today.

There is a new FB stadium (on campus) in the works. Latest excuse from BB coach, as brought up on Twin Cities Sports Talk Radio KFAN last week, is that Monson doesn't get the top BB recruit because the Gophers don't have a top notch on campus Football Stadium give me a friggin' break- try coaching better and winning games- at least get in the NCAA field of 64, then perhaps you'd keep these blue chip kids. RT example Michigan State BB TRUE FRESHMAN #22 Isaiah Dahlman, comes off the bench plays 13-14 minutes a game, did not even consider the Gophers, because the kid wants to play for a winner & Izzo is a winner- Monson is a choker

You have a right to your opinion Duff, I but when you beat down a guy like Scrubby who just wants to talk football and call him Grandpa, it does piss me off.  I dont mean you, well you know who.  I have never tried to offend any of you guys.  But to call me the TDT of Bethel, how is that??  The guy has one take,  ho hum,, BU sucks, excuses again,  I have never said those things during the season about St. Johns.  I respect the program and I have tried to be objective even after our loss against  Carleton.  Don't put me in a category with TDT. I have done nothing to represent BU football in the same way he represents St. Johns.  I have never disrespected your head coach, or your players.  That would show the very stupidity that he shows every week.  I am glad he is on your side, cause we would shut him up on ours....

So here's what has RPI excited....this athletic complex will put RPI in the upper ranks of D3 teams' facilities...and our D1 hockey team's arena is getting an overhaul too that will put it in the class of Minnesota and the Boston schools.

After seeing SJU stadium, RT was jealous in 2003 but now we'll have something to rival that. Should be done by 2009..ground breaks in 2007.  Although I will miss our field now in the center of campus w/ the ivy covered brick buildings from the late 1800's around it...just no rooms for real stands beyond the 2500 we hold now.

He calls you the TDT because of your attack-without basis-we can't beat LAX? Only Bethel can hang tough against them? Bethel would beat SJU up and down the field no matter how many times they played? I will agree that SJU played like crap against Bethel-but I would also bet that if they played ten times, SJU would win 4 or 5 or those games. You can't complain about the draw-you have to beat the team in front of you and then the next team. And unfortunatley, until Bethel wins a playoff game, you will have fans begin with "as usual Bethel loses."  The best advice is to just ignore TDT and talk football with the other posters.

johnnie_esq

Royalach- since 1997 (the earliest year I have records for Bethel), BC/BU is 1-3 against WIAC teams; over that same time SJU is 10-5 against WIAC teams.  SJU doesn't necessarily get intimidated by WIAC squads.  Yes, you beat SJU in your super bowl, but the way to get true national respect is to beat good national teams when you aren't playing your rival.  Bethel deserved their chip-chair-chance, but didn't pull it out.  They deserve MIAC respect (as they earned it), but that's about it right now.

Incidentally, BC/BU is 0-2 against Central since 2004.   We (a one-loss conference champ) played an undefeated conference champ on the road, you (a one-loss conference champ) played a one-loss conference runner up on the road.  And I don't need to reflect on those teams that won those games.

I don't back up TDT much, but careful with how you're attacking SJU.  And to think BC/BU doesn't have its TDTs is pretty ignorant.

RT-- LOVE the new complex at RPI.  Excellent facilities, it appears.  Best wishes on putting that together, as I hope it will bring in great athletes upstate.  And with good athletes comes the females!

My thanks to everyone who attended the Stiftungsfestivities yesterday in Pella. DutchFan1, great to see you again and thanks for joining us. I love your town and the Dutch letters. Always enjoy being on campus at Central.

Just made my reservation for the flight to Spokane. Since I have never been to Whitworth, figured I might as well go. As the old saying goes, you only go around life once.

Congrats to Central and Bethel for great seasons. Congrats also to the Johnnie cross country team for finishing 5th at nationals yesterday.

Back to work on the homicide trial. :P

...wishful thinking, my friend. Although the ration in the last 5 years has improved dramatically in the roosters' favor...

Hey TDT, here is reality...  the only reason you advance is due to the fact you drew the only team you could possibly beat.  BU gets hosed on the the road draw and you and everybody else knows it.  They played a team that will absolutely kick your teams ass, as your team is just not physical enough.  Talk about Carleton all you want, we physically kicked your teams sorry ass all the way up and down the football field, and we would have done it again given the chance. Reality is BU will be back next year to shut your hole again, and I didnt hear any BU excuses, they lost, they went home, and played one hell of a game against a Big and strong La Crosse team. Reality is, wether you win or lose next week, we are one week closer to not hearing from you for another year...  To all the other Johnnie posters, you guys are at least fair in your analysis of MIAC football, where your poster child has one take every week.  And while your trying to order your DVD of the perfect season TDT, just put your little red chair by the front door of your trailer, and make sure to address is to Blue Boy...  cause it ain't coming this year...

Wonka got a good laugh out of this one. However, upon reflection, it does not appear royalachilles is joking. Troubling.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Excellent. Here you go!

I wasn't sure if I wanted to kiss it, spit on it or sit on it..... well, I went the alternative route: Put the computer on it and went on the field to shoot.

...TDT is in a class of his own!  Other than Wonka, everyone else has been awesome out here.  Showing respect and for some, truely understanding the game of football.  I suggested a week ago or so that BU had a tough road, they did.  They did however show they are for real.  I'm not sure anyone has given BU the credit they should in terms of beating SJU.  Posters just keep saying how "bad" SJU played.  Not sure why I'm going down that road anyway, sorry.

I heard some interesting facts today in church about the MIAC awards!  Not sure why they haven't been mentioned on here yet, so I'll wait for official word on that.   I'll say this, actually Wonka would suggest this, In my "bias" thoughts about the awards, I was right on.

Well, my grandson is in the state football tournament next week--go "Cougars"!!

Hey TDT, here is reality...  Reality is BU will be back next year to shut your hole again

RA-  While I too hope that Bethel continues to win conference titles, I wouldnt bet on them winning next year. I can see them going 7-3, but no way do they win the conference. No Porta, Danielson, Galswyk, Ellis, Kirby Carr, John Evans, Wassink, just to name a few. Their O-Line will still be strong, and Luebke and younger Carr will return, but a lot of young kids will have to step up for BU to contend.
