57: I saw you post that the first time, smart a$$.

So TDT went to Costco in Maple Grove yesterday to grab a few items.  I check out and begin walking past the food section and toward the exit.  I am stopped dead in my tracks by a big burly man with his lovely wife and kids.  It was none other than Veek.  Wow, what a surprise!  He mentioned he will be on the Charter this Saturday morning with his dad to Spokane.  It is indeed a small world.

I will post more expert analysis today as time permits...But let me be the first to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, we have much to be thankful for this year!

Not too much makes me homesick down here anymore, but the view of the Chapel across the lake at the end kind of pulled it out of me.

No problem, Oz. Assuming you're down under,  the question becomes ... is VB the Hamm's of your part of the world?

Veek

My father and I have two seats reserved for Saturday's flight.  I see that the stadium only holds 2200 and it looks like it has no visitor stands.  I hope they don't mind a lot of red in their stands.  I can't wait.  It should be a great game.

ROR - have you made your reservation yet?  Duff, Fins, Ritz?  Let's fill that plane up.
Go Johnnies!!!

To settle the issue about the new turf at Central this year.  It was brand new this year.  The first game was the second week of the season this year.  I know that they do practice some on the field.  I do not know how much they do practice on it.

I will be driving over for the game. I have already had 3 co-workers stop by this morning to see how the Johnnies did and one of my bosses stopped by with driving directions (his son went to Whitman in Walla Walla, WA).  TDT, I doubt you are going to see any cookies made by me, but I would be willing to stop by the grocery store bakery and pick up some for you if you would like! ;D

Looks like the field is on the side of a hill, so there should be plenty of overflow room:

Here is my public apology to "The Guru" for misstating that both he and K Mack had picked against both MIAC teams. P Cole actually had the Johnnies winning in OT (mighty close to picking against) Sorry! My Bad! Pardon Me!

He was also, 14 of 16 overall. Props to him on that.

Am I back in your good graces or do I need to Kiss some more Booty? (That's assuming I was in your good graces to begin with)

LOL, mostly I just posted it to make sure other people didn't read it and believe you. :)

John Gagliardi was talking with Bob Sansevere again:

People think about going to Rome and the Vatican. I've been a guest of Jim Tressel's at Ohio State. And I've been with Phil Fulmer at Tennessee. And Steve Spurrier when he was at Florida. And I've visited with Brian Billick and the Baltimore Ravens. I'll never forget those days. To me, that's far better than visiting the pope. I hate to say that as a Catholic. I'll probably be excommunicated.

If I had a time machine, I'd like to go back and replay that game we lost to Bethel

...I read this as well in the paper today.   Of all the things I'd do with a time machine, the last thing I'd want to do is go back and replay a football game.  Say all you want, SJU getting beat by BU is a big deal, more important than them (SJU) getting beat in the playoffs!!  If the season were to end this weekend for SJU, they'd rather had beaten BU than make it another round!!

OK - just yanking the chain a little - Trying to qualify as a CAIA (classless a$$hole in absentia). So how about oatmeal stout at Birkebeiner's in Spokane?
That sounds good enough to try.  8)

Don't know about that scrubby. Bethel beat SJU in 1999 and 2000, Johnnies made it to the third round in 99 and the Stagg Bowl in 2000. I don't think they were really worried about the Bethel losses by the time they played those games.

sfury

at least John didn't say he wanted to commit suicide after the Bethel loss. Or  maybe that line's been retired from his act.

An since BU season has already ended...as usual...they will have that one win to keep them warm all winter.  :P

My apologies to the BU fans (biased and unbiased) that don't feel the need to keep poking the SJU fans with a stick.

It's always a big deal to win the big games, but I think when it comes down to it, anyone would rather win in the playoffs and keep advancing towards the ultimate goal.

What are everyone's thoughts on Michigan staying at #2 in the BCS?

They lost to the consensus #1 team in the nation at their place by 3pts and that's their only loss.

Every other DI team that plays a real schedule with actual decent DI teams (aka not Boise State's cupcake schedule of no ranked teams) lost to someone else besides the #1 team in the country and more often than not by a larger margin.

Here are the losses of the 1 loss teams in the AP Top 25:

Michigan- lost at #1 Ohio State by 3 pts
USC- lost at un-ranked Oregon State by 2 pts
Florida- lost at then #11 Auburn by 10 pts
Arkansas- lost at then #6 USC by 36
Notre Dame- lost at home to then #11 Michigan by 26
West Virginia- lost at then #5 Louisville by 10
Wisconsin- lost at then #6 Michigan by 14
Louisville- Lost at #15 Rutgers by 3
Rutgers- doesn't even deserve to be on this list after losing to 6-5 Unranked Cincinnati by 19

Based on that, Michigan was by far the most impressive team in their 1 loss and lost to the best team, so IMHO they should be #2.

you have to take into account how weak the big 10 is this year. yes, they have two amazing teams at the top, but dont even get me started about wisconsin, they havent played anybody of value except Michigan. While I think the Pac-10 is weak too, I say USC goes if they win out. Besides, the point was just proven on Saturday that Ohio State is the better team, to quote Urban Meyer, it would be an insult to the buckeyes to have to play a team they just beat, albeit in a close game.

USC has the most valid arguement, although I think any team that goes through the SEC with only one loss deserves a shot as well. To be completely honest, I think if Michigan is in the SEC they have two losses this year. Florida cant bitch cause of their non-conference schedule. USC played Arkansas, Nebraska, and Notre Dame. I HATE THE TROJANS but they win out, they are in in my opinion.

Also, if the Kirby Carr rumor is true, it couldnt go to a more deserving guy. A month ago, I would have said Porta, but Kirby has been one of the most consistent playmakers on a stout defense the past 4 years, and this year he turned in another brilliant effort. Combine that with Phil's various injuries this season, I say give it to Kirby. And although this has no bearing on the award, he is one of the classiest guys you'll ever meet.
