Congratulations to the award winners.

ROR: Who made you King Sh!t?  I'll preside over the proceedings as President...

Dusty: Excellent point, Need to find out about that ASAP.

Ritz: Are you going West?

When it goes past a$$ hole territory, I feel a need to step in.

Congratulations to Alex Kofoed, Matt Penz, and Ben Wetzell, 3 really terrific QB's this year all earning 1st team honors.  And to the Oles with 12 1st teamers.  And a big congratulations to Zach, Kirby and Coach J with your great honors..

Regarding the Oles, that is a little inflated because both Ensley and Fortman are on there twice, but regardless none of the Ole first teamers are Seniors. Hopefully next year those guys figure out how to make it happen in the big games.

I see that UW Stout took Whitworth to 2 OT's before losing. Not wanting to disparage Stout, but you didn't have a sparkling season, so it doesn't make Whitworth that strong. Anyone from Stout still hanging around? Come over to the MIAC PP Board and give us your knowledge from that experience.

retagent,

When I watched Linfield play Whitworth this year I was not super impressed with Whitworth.  Linfield had more skill and I thought was a better team....but Whitworth has proved over and over again that they find ways to win each game they are in and that includes besting my 'Cats.  Not super impressive but 11-0 is still 11-0.

If SJU lets Whitworth stay close into the 4th then I wouldn't be surprised to see the Rats head out to the land of cheese.  If the John's get the Rats down early they better put the gas down and not let up.  My .02 cents.

Looked like a tough, emotional day in court in Carver County.  Good to see JR received a little ink in what had to be a difficult day of testimony.

Wow, what an article.  Best of luck with the trial, JR.

Congrats to all the MIAC All Conference players - Carr somewhat suprised me but the more I think about, the more sense it makes.  He was a play maker.

Thought it was good to see Kevin Williamson on the first team as a back, and then simulataneously on the second team as a punter.  Does that mean he gets 2 awards?

Good luck to the Johnnies this weekend -
To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

Wahoo, that is pretty strong, 12 1st teamers all returning for the Oles next year.

Disappointed to see the MIAC All-Conference teams - they seem to be parting gifts for seniors and consolation prizes for the Oles.  Do the media or the coaches vote for these?  Who organizes this list?

If they are based on conference stats, a few of the top players aren't recognized.  Aren't the awards based upon the accomplishments of an individual or of their off/def?

As we whittle down this week until Saturday afternoon (Sunday sunrise...), I figure I'll give you all an introduction into a little Australiana: Aussie Rules Football.  It's a fast, tough, exciting game.  Here are a few vids to give you a feel for the contest.

1. Big hits of 2005.  Some genuine bone crunchers in here.  Might make you say 'Ow!' in sympathy.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQzgwfFRbqs

2. Footy marks.  Quite a few speccies (spectacular marks (catches)) in here.  You might also call them screamers.  Around the middle there is even a high flyer from Ben Graham (current Jets punter). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojKGgEc6aPc

3. Top Goals and Marks of 2006.  A goal is a kick between the middle posts (worth 6 points).  The minor score is a Behind (one point), a kick inside the outer posts (or handed over any score line). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TzhufrqUHU

So final score might read

Hawthorn         15   8     98
Collingwood      8    12    60

Meaning the Hawks kicked 15 goals (six pts each) and 8 behinds (1 pt each) for 98 points while the Magpies kick 8 goals 12 for 60.

If it hasn't changed, I believe the MIAC awards are all agreed upon by the coaches. I think they actually have a coaches meeting to decide who is what. It could be the SID's are involved too, I am not 100% sure.

It was a pretty intense day in court on the Everson trial. I did the direct exam on Tom Everson, the father of the defendant Grant. I can't begin to imagine what it must be like to have to look your son in the eye when you are on the witness stand knowing that he wanted to kill you and aided and abetted his buddy in killing your wife and the defendant's mother. :P

We are moving through the witnesses fairly quickly overall. The defense will really be coming after the shooter, who has already pled guilty to one count of second degree murder for killing the mother and one count of attempted murder in the first degree for trying to kill the dad. He has agreed to testify against Grant as part of the plea agreement.

Always interesting to have the defense during their opening statement admit that Grant is guilty of attempted murder of the mom and dad. First time experience to me.

The media coverage has been massive. Met another reporter from 48 Hours. She is from New York.

As Dusty would say, developing. Thank God it is a short week and the trip to Spokane is on Saturday.

Just wanted to say congratulations to all the MIAC award winners, and especially to the big 3, Kirby, Zach, and Coach Steve Johnson.  I was a little surprised with the MVP and Stam at first but it makes sense once now that I think about it.  A fellow defender winning the MVP is great, I've known Kirby and his family since I was 3 years old and they are wonderful people.  He is very deserving of the award; he has been a playmaker all 4 years.  As for the Stam, I wasn't surprised that it was someone from Bethel, but I thought it would be Wasink (sp?).  However, since Zach was a dominant player on a very good defense it also makes sense for him to receive the award.  Also a big congratulations to all my Concordia teammates that made the honors teams.  Great year everyone, and good luck Johnnies!!  Keep it going!!

TDT- In answer to your question, who made ROR king, I did. He is the man, having not met Johnnie Red yet. After you guys come back to WW, and I meet JR, I will let you know who king of the Johnnie fans is. You, Duffman, et al, are princes, (not princesses), as you may wish.
3 cases of beer coming for the Johnnie\WW game. Anything BUT Hamms.

PS, If LAX beats WW, I will see you guys in LaCrosse. Hold up your end.

I saw the Whitworth/Stout game and in all honesty, I was not impressed by either team.  Being an alum for UW-Stout and the first game I attended this year I was disappointed.  Stout should have won the game and was thoroughly blasting them with a shut out until less than a minute to go.  Stout had their season seemingly come to an end after this game as all the rest did not have the same luster as if some of the players lost interest and buy in.
St. John's should win by a td no matter how week they are this year compared to past seasons.
