I love catching up on 40 pages Sunday mornings. My eyes hurt from focusing on the computer that long, but hearing about a MIAC victory through the recap of posters is a bit better than the 2 paragraph story in the Trib.

Upon hearing that the Johnnies were once again victorious in the playoffs, I thought back to the whole convo on here about the SJU coaches. Is there any staff that has a team prepared for the playoffs better than the Johnnies? It just seems they are so prepared in each game. It's definitely a difference maker each week.

A WW-SJU matchup would be fun to watch, but a Schell's Brew Tour, a Gopher-MSU hockey game, Mettler's and the taco bar and a night of boozing with locals is on tap for next Saturday.

TDT video alert

A Whitworth fan at the Pine Bowl sent the clip below to me to find out if I knew this SJU fan in the video.....of course I wasn't surprised when I saw it was just TDT making a fool out of himself.

Duffman-- This work at 6pm on Saturday stuff sucks. Can't you use that SJU education to figure a way out of it?

It's not "work" but a holiday party.  Sorry :'(

Duff,

My holiday party is Saturday night as well. I'm not going, just a bunch of drunken assholes talking smack. I would much rather spend my day at the UWW-SJU game! :D
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Mine is actually a good time, and it is frowned upon by the higher-ups if you don't attend.  I'll hold down the fort here, though.

IOne guy said that it's awfully tough to be Gagliardi twice and I believe that.

Pretty much everyone but one fella would find it hard to be the same person twice. ;)

(Ask Superfan77 for a hint of who that one person might be)

Not going to play your game, OzJohnny93... I would never go trolling for, as you call it bandwagoneers, in such infertile waters as the NMC PP or this one for that matter.  Strickly catch and release.

Glad to see you're not playing 'my' game.  No name sledging from you, no sir.  I wonder if UWW will fail to play SJU's game as well as you failed to play 'mine'.

It will be interesting to see whose responses to your post you intend to respond to.

Shooter has some fun news today:

) Mike Grant, who has coached Eden Prairie to five large-school state football titles in 11 years, was asked what it would take for him to accept another coaching job.

"Two million dollars," he quipped Saturday. "The only guy who makes that much is (St. John's-Collegeville's) John Gagliardi, and he's not going anywhere."

"At age 49, I'm closer to sitting on the dock than I am starting a new football program."

) Cretin-Derham Hall senior quarterback Joe Springer has an official recruiting visit to Brown University in two weeks, and Iowa is recruiting him as a walk-on. He also is considering NCAA Division III schools. The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder has a 4.2 grade-point average on a weighted scale.

Good luck at Whitewater Johnnies.

Can't say how impressed I was with the turnout of SJU fans at the Pine Bowl yesterday.  More fans than PLU had at the 2001 playoff at our place.  And almost all cheered loudly and hard for their team with great class.

It was fun to share our place with you on a Saturday.

Congrats to the Johnnies.  Keep rollin'.  Good luck next weekend.

Johnnie Esq, why would Springer want to play football at Brown or walk on at Iowa when he could play at St. John's? Nothing against Iowa; just think the experience would be a little more fulfilling football-wise at Collegeville.

I recently had a talk with the father of McManus, the qb at St. Thomas Academy. His dad is a judge in our district. Sounds like the son is getting heavily recruited by Ivy League schools also.

Piperinsider, I'm sure you enjoyed watching Glencoe Silver Lake beat Becker in the Prep Bowl. Somewhat surprised by the score. Have a great time in New Ulm at the Schell's Brewery and behave yourself at Mettler's in Mankato.

TDT reminded me yesterday that we are only a few months away from the EelPout Festival in Walker, the largest outdoor keg party in the State of Minnesota. Posters, keep it in mind along with the BockFest at Schell's Brewery in New Ulm. Duffman can vouch for the enjoyment of the latter event.

I respect your decision.

I'm sure you will cheer loud for the Johnnies.

Make sure you are drinking SoCo- it's done the trick the past two weeks ;)

It is always soooo nice to get home around 3:30 a.m. from a football game! Great trip to Spokane and Whitworth. Bennie, thanks for the adult beverages and cookies. It was great to see you again.

Rather unique to see the streaker zoom down the track behind the Pirates' bench right before the opening kickoff. Last time I saw that was a few years ago at St. Thomas.

It was great seeing you guys. Being at the game just reminded me of all that I am missing living out here! I got home at 11 pm. A seven and a half hour drive and I still beat you home! It was all down hill...literally!  :D

Bennie, you just got mentioned on air for providing chocolate for the broadcast ;)

Ya got to keep them happy and feeling appreciated! ;D Seriously, after having listened to some other team's broadcasts, we are very lucky that we have these guys. They do a great job! :D

I concur - though I haven't brought them any chocolate.  That reminds me how my family used to give the Augustinians at my high school a case of scotch for Christmas each year - out of appreciation for their teaching skill of course, not just so they'd pass all their kids!  :D
