Some how this seems to tie into this discussion (spanking, appropriate punishment)... I came across this interesting website about college athlete hazing and the NCAA's lack of action regarding the subject. http://ncaahazing.com/ I was a bit stunned by how much of the hazing listed on this site was done by womens teams...

I don't know what is stupider, making a younger (and often underage) teammate drink themselves nearly to death or being stupid enough to post pictures of the event on a website!! I am not even going to get into the issues of sexual abuse that goes on.

I did think it was funny (and not in a good way) that Flordia State seemed more concerned about there players posting pictures of themselves behaving inappropriately or illegally on myspace.com that they were in the fact that the players were engaging in the behaviors to begin with...

Bennie...that site has been behind a lot of teams (an esp high # if D-III) on probation  recently.

What blows me away is the stupidity of not only the act in general but the players who then post the pics as _______ College basketball Freshman Initiation.  So dumb on so many levels....

Kind of trivializes the Harvard of the West Elocution Dept. having their majors practice at football games as part of the Honors Program.  :D

Hey BDB

Should I stop by tomorrow and pick you up on the way to Ohio?

Great road trip. Friday-Saturday & Sunday!
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

An Irishman, an Englishman and a Scot were sitting in a bar.

The view was fantastic, the beer excellent, the food exceptional.

"Y'ken," said the Scotsman, "I still prefer the pubs back hame. Why,
in Glasgow there's a wee bar called McTavish's.  Now, the landlord
there goes out of his way for the locals so much that when you buy 4
drinks, he will buy the 5th drink for you."

"Well," said the Englishman, "at my local, The Red Lion, the barman
there will buy you your 3rd drink after you buy the first two."

"Ahhh, that's nuttin," said the Irishman. "Back home in Dublin there's
O'Driscoll's Bar.  Now, the moment you set foot in the place they'll
buy you a drink, then another, all the drinks you like.  Then, when
you've had enough drinks, they'll take you upstairs and see that you
get laid.  All on the house."

"Well," said the Englishman, "did this actually happen to you?"

"Not me myself, personally, no," said the Irishman, "but it did happen
to me sister."

A plea from one of your fellow Johnnie fans:

QuoteI'm an SJU alum who's now patiently waiting for next year.

Pat, now to the second reason I've written. I have a young son.  Quite frequently I
leave my computer on.  When he comes in to use it I get concerned at times.  Most
recently, on the MIAC site there are pictures of women getting spanked.  I'm not a
prude and am not a 'censorship' kind of guy.  Yet, I'm concerned that too many
posters veer away from football and post pictures that don't dignify what you're
trying to do.  It also doesn't help those of us who are trying to raise kids in a
healthy way.

I realize that these kind of posts are in the minority but I wanted to raise my
concern.  I know that you and your staff work hard to promote a high level of
civility.  I just wish all the posters would take the hint.

Take this as a suggestion from a devoted fan who appreicates what you do.  If
there's anything you can do about these kind of posts it would be appreciated.

I dunno just found it in a google search ....

Actually, Kenai River AK when I lived up there, 65 lb. Light line. Took us about a mile down river before we landed it. We'd pulled a 55 out of the salt the night before and nailed another 60-plus about 10 minutes after I got mine.

It was a great way to break out of the freezer jinx, i.e., when you buy a new freezer for all the fish you're going to catch then go on a tremendous dry spell. The 65 was my biggest ever by about 8 pounds.

While I was up there some guy from Sandstone, Minn., fought one, 75-plus for 17 hours ... before the guide knocked if off with the net ....

Hey fins. Well this is a first. Your "this will teach her" and my "hot rubber" spanking joke pics got pulled off.  :D

OK, PC. I get it. Pushed the threshhold of the site even though in good fun.

You are the boss, and I respect that. No problem.
