What do you get when you cross a defensive lineman with a prostitute?

A quarter-ton pickup.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

MR - There is a thread with that specific question addressed in the General Football heading. The answer to your questions, and many more, can be found there.

Go Warhawks!!!

I am so sick of seeing MU in the title game....ever heard of DII?  MOVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (can anyone comment if that is possible for one sport and not the others..like Colorado College's hockey team)

Mighty Royal

Give me a break, MR.  Why should they move to DII?  They're not playing with scholarships, so why would they want to play DII ball?  MUC is enjoying a helluva run right now.  I'm sure it won't last forever.  They are a very talented and disciplined team due to tremendous coaching.  Just because they dominate does not mean that thyey should waste their time in DII.  Do you know how big Mount Union is?  It is a tiny school--not DII material.

I, for one, will probably have my MUC hat on this weeekend.

A tradition unrivaled...

That Duff sure is one smart guy for a former Johnnie D-lineman!   ;D

The SJU football dinner/banquet/whatever was last night.  I'm not sure how big a deal it is and don't have any reports.  Presumably they gave out team awards and such.

It's no big deal.  Get together, John says a few things, they hand out the all-conference/all-american awards and that type of thing, then the seniors all get a chance to speak.  That's the cool part.  Then, it's off to Old Country Buffet so the o-linemen can gorge themselves.
Now, Duffman, don't be dissing the OLINEMEN.  They have to keep up their strength!!  Without Oliners, there is no offense, PERIOD.  No fancy tailbacks scoring tds, QBs throwing passes and all that jazz.  OLINERS are   THE MEN   I even colored it Johnny Red.  Soon we will all be without football.  8 months until the season starts again.  Ugh,  Argh!!   The OOOOOOOs have to keep in shape!!!
Oh and by the way, you should come to the STAGG.  I sure cheered for you all when you all were there last!!  And you won a great victory!!I still have Coach Gagliardi e-mail response to my congrats saved.  Stone Station does an awesome tailgate for both teams at the Stagg.  I'll take barbecued chicken and brownies over those sticks any day. ;D ;D ;D
PS I also saved the picture of you in the WW hat.  It just looked right somehow. ;)  even if it was because you lost a bet.

Your right olinemom,  the o-linemen need to stay in shape and "round" is a shape (JK).  Being a former D-lineman (and I think Duff will agree with me) the men are on the defensive side of the ball.  As my old coach used to say the offense has two advantages on the D.  1. They know what the play is.  2. they know when the ball is going to be snapped.  SO the real men need to be on D. (otherwise the O would score on every play) ;D
Well, actually when I make my brownies for my guys here at BC, (they get 14 pans every Monday for Film day) the Dline gets them also.  I love all football players.  My brothers who played, as they say, back in the day, played when a good player played both ways.  Charles played right guard on O and Monster man (linebacker); Nick played left tackle on O and left defensive tackle; and the baby,(he would hate this, but he won't see it tee, hee) Rick played left guard and roving linebacker respectively.    When I got involved in BC football, I chose the group who got the least amount of recognition from fans and press unless something goes wrong, of course.  Then they are in the glare of all the press and everything.  But if they do their job, the Offense runs smoothly, scores lots of points, gives the Defense some time to rest between assaults on the other team's offense.  And everybody talks about the tailback, the QB, the DLine, the DBs, the sacks.  Do you see where I'm coming from?  So I give the brownies to the OLINERS and they share with the rest of the team.  But believe you me, all the guys mostly refer to me as Mom.  And I love it and them.  I hurt for them as they did themselves in this year.  It's hard to see excellent teams, Eagles, Johnnies, wildcats, Crusaders and so many more have their seasons end prematurely.  No player or fan is ready for that.  And next Sunday, we will all be without DIII football for an eternity.  Or at least it will seem like that to me!!!  I will be cheering for WW because Coach Brez is a great coach and a good man.  He didn't know me from Adam last year.  I sent him a congratulatory note and promised to come to the Stagg and cheer for the team and bring BROWNIES.  He brought me a WW hoodie.  It is a prized possession, not so much because it is from WW but because someone in the midst of so many things he had to do to get ready for a trip to the Stagg Bowl had time to do a gracious and kind thing.  That's what belonging to the DIII family means to me.  And this is really what Pat Coleman has done for DIII football with this forum.  He has allowed people from so many areas to talk about our teams, our love of football,DIII football in particular, allowed us to rib one another, to make friendships, to get together at games and tailgate.  None of this would be possible , really without d3football.com.  I don't know how I got here from where I started but MANY MANY THANKS to Pat C for his tireless work on his website.  AWESOME doesn't even come close.
Now I've got to go to school and grade some more exams. >:( >:(  Or I could just try the method I've heard about--throwing them down the stairs except:
1) I don't have any stairs
2)  I would be the one that fell down the stairs and the exams would be at the top laughing their papers off at me.
3) see #2

I enjoy reading you Kubiak and Duffman as well.  Don't you think it would be nice to have a bronze and gold in the West instead of the North, Duff?  Wear that WW hat I know you've got.   ;D ;D ;D ;D
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

Well, really, if the walnut and bronze isn't coming to SJU, I don't care a whole lot who wins it.  I've played against UWW and MUC in the past.  This year, they are both excellent teams, but from my personal experiences, I respect MUC more.

This isn't football related, but it is Minnesota hockey related. Phil Kessel played for one year at the University of Minnesota before being drafted by and going to play for the Boston Bruins. He just turned 19 and he was just diagnosed with testicular cancer. My thoughts and prayers go out to him.

Again with the respect thing Duff,  Looks like I need to email my wife,  have her dig through my "box of crap" as she calls it and find the mullet football pic. Then scan it and send it to me so that I can post it for you. ;D

Absolutely, Bennie-- it's really too bad, considering the pressure he has been under.  For those who aren't familiar with him, he was a consensus first round NHL draft pick since he was 16 years old-- imagine going through high school with people calling you the American Wayne Gretzky.  His press conference where he chose Minnesota over Wisconsin drew thousands of hits in about 10 minutes to USCHO.  On a more personal note, last year at Mariucci he often would stay late on the ice pre-game, spotting young kids, picking up pucks, and flipping them over the glass to them to ensure they went home with a souvenir.  He's a quiet kid who has dealt with a lot of pressure, received negative press because of it-- best wishes and prayers on his treatment and recovery, as I believe he has the capability of winning this battle too.

Quick note:

TDT sent me his christmas list for this year and number one was a "Man Groomer".  I think we all know why TDT would need such an item.

MR.....get better! Or do you just want to take your ball and go home?

MUC is not moving anywhere and doesn't need to.

Oh, I am back from the well documented trip in Daily Dose. (See A different trip to Alliance)

Wheew...1800 miles in three days....sure am glad Ryan came along to share the driving LOL!

Just enough time to turn the old U-trou inside out and get another week out of them before I head to Salem.

I am looking forward to my first Stone Station tailgate and will carry some stories about the Stiftingfest to the party. Paris Hilton and the like. Jello shots anyone?

Duff,
Thanks for your support.  I realize there is a double whammy on the Raiders every year.

"Gee I want to see anyone else win" and " Bring the Walnut and Bronze back to the west."

Win it back.......St Johns did. Maybe it is WW's year but I think the Raiders will show up and contest it.

Number 9,Number 9,Number 9,Number 9,Number 9,Number 9,Number 9,

So sayeth the Beatles and you don't MUC with the Beatles Number 9 will be devine.

You are now entering the "KMIC ZONE" DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO. or is it DEW DEW DEW  DEW (you'll have to let me know KR)

The most incredible part of last weekend was the last scoring drive where Mount basically said to St John Fisher...."We are going to give the ball to Nate on every play....

Raiders had the ball two times for 8:23 in the fourth quarter and gained 109 yards and a TD. Every play was run by Nate Kmic.

We have forgotten how to pass!!!!I woke up this morning in a cold sweat thinking we had become Augustana! AHHHHHHHHHHHH! No offense Augie.

42 carries 371 yards and 3 td's and a sophomore. and a grand total of 8-14 for 51 yards in the air. And SJF had the edge in TOP!

Anyone coming to the Stagg from up here?

I understand there is going to be a least one Stagg party at the same as last year at the Grand Rios in Brooklyn Center at 694 & County Rd 81. Nice place  with plenty of tv's. I'll wave.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Touchdown Tommy

Whew...my head is spinning now Raiderguy.  I think MUCk wins again this year.  Whitewater did not impress me at all this season.  Now the J's could have been a lot better than I had previously thought, but I doubt it.  Safe Travels to your 2nd home...

Hey Mighty Royal: You are rediculous.  Are you kidding me?  Quit whining and complaining about MUCk.  Do something about it.  Beat them.  Better yet you have to GET THERE to beat them.  Time to PUT UP or SHUT UP.  Do us a favor and disappear til next season.
