If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

hey, back for my once-a-week post. First off, how is it that Kirby Carr is a Gags trophy finalist and then not even the best linebacker on his team, at least according to the All-Region teams?

That said, I have to finish this paper for the last day of class tommorow. Progressivism is some kick-ass stuff..........who doesnt want to learn about feminism?

Is it too early to start talking about the 2007 EelPout Festival in Walker the weekend of February 16 and the BockFest at Schell's Brewery in New Ulm on February 17? Both events ROCK. Duffman can vouch for the BockFest. I'm thinking we might want to promote a d3sports.com gathering at one or both of the events in `07. Let me know your thoughts.

JR, we've already got our bus reserved for Bockfest!  Shoudl be an exciting time again.  By the way, I caught the Gopher/Okie State match on TV on Monday.  Did you go to it?  It was a very good dual!  The guy at 197 looks like an animal.

You mean they can't already do this in Minnesota?  ???

AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - A Texas lawmaker is aiming to allow the blind to hunt.
Texas State Representative Edmund Kuempel has introduced a measure that would allow blind people to hunt any game that sighted people can currently pursue.
He hopes it will be passed after the legislature reconvenes in January though he does not expect it to come into affect until 2008.
"This opens up the fun of hunting to additional people, and I think that's great," Kuempel told Reuters.
The bill may find little resistance in Texas, where politicians of all stripes endorse hunting, which is wildly popular in the state.
Under the bill, blind hunters would be required to have a sighted hunter with them and would be allowed to use laser sights and other devices that are currently not allowed.
"A blind person can shoot a rifle by mounting an offset pistol scope on the side of the rifle instead of on top," said Terry Erwin, the Austin-based Hunter Education Coordinator with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
"This allows their companion behind them to peer over their shoulder and help them sight it, but the blind person can pull the trigger," he told Reuters.

Actually, you can already do this in Minnesota.  Here is a story of a legally blind man who hunted earlier this year.

Well, you know those Texans - they think they invented water.  Thanks for the find - +k.

BUDefense:  It is all based on stats from what I can tell...Don't get me wrong Mattson at Augsburg is a good player, but when your defense is on the field for 100 plays a game and you're the best player out there, you're going to rack up some stats.  Pat, If this were the case (community service, academics, and athletics)  why was he nominated as the MIAC MVP?  Best player in the conference yet he's on the third team...Best defensive player on the team...yet he's on the third team...Knowing him he could probably care less about his accolades however the man is a definite 1st team All-American candidate and he qualifies as a 3rd teamer in the region?  The other interesting point here is this shows how tough the west region is, proving the point our west region and the OAC are far and away the best in football.

TDT - I saw UWW three times this year. I thought that when they played LAX and later Wesley, they looked unbeatable. When they played the Johnnies, they looked vulnerable. Whether it was the Johnnies and their prep that made the difference , or a bad game by the Warhawks, we can only speculate. Look at the triangle that has been pointed to a number of times with UWW/UMHB and Wesley. We'll see Saturday - or maybe not.

Duffman, I caught that match as well.  Beat the hell out of watching MNF.  I would say there were a number of animals on both teams.  The guy that most impressed me was Dustin Schlatter.

Dusty Schlatter is amazing.  I missed his match, though.  Looks like he thoroughly dominated his man.  Cole Konrad is a phenomenal HWT, but I wasn't too impressed with his match.  That is one dude I'd hate to meet in a dark alley!!!

They should make these blind dudes that want to hunt register somewhere. You know, like sexual predators do, so everyone knows where they live.
I'd want to make sure I was not in the same woods as someone shooting bullets while someone else is pointing the gun. What do you suppose they do at the end of the day? Go down to the Legion and shoot pool or darts while someone tells them where to aim? They'd certainly be the 1st one in the joint to get blind drunk though. :D
