Also, I must say that at the end of the game, it appeared that Garcon (#1, WR for MUC) APPEARED to end the game without any class.  It seemed to me that he was running his mouth quite a bit.  It disappointed me to see that.  Now, I may be wrong, or I might not fully know what was being said by the UWW DB, but I would have hoped that Kehres would have instilled in his players a, "yep, we've done this before" type of attitude.  The point where Garcon APPEARED to be talking smack was well after MUC was into the 'just run out the clock' time.  If that was, in fact, what was going on, there was no need for such a classless act.

Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

I saw it too but the guy gave him a little extra shot after he was down.  Not that this excuses it but if they were jawing back and forth during the game also I can at least understand it.

Yeah, I have a ton of respect for MUC, but Garcon takes away from them, I think.  Kehres is a humble man and in my experiences, his teams are very respectful, too.  Garcon seems to like to draw attention to himself with his TD "poses", his non-stop talking, and his totally unnecessary dive into the endzone.  I wish LK would put an end to that.

That was a very good MUC team.  UWW basically took away much of their running game (until late in the game).  Also, UWW kept MUC's d-line off of Jacobs for the most part.  Problem was, MUC's secondary was all over.  Jacobs couldn't find too many open receivers.  Also, the long ball wasn't working for him today.

The game was very back and forth for the first 2.5 quarters, but MUC did what they always do.  Michelli looked fantastic at QB...and he's only a soph :'(  He made some really nice throws.  He really throws on a rope.  Plus, Garcon really can get some YAC, which is a killer.  The blocked punt was huge...and a momentum killer.  Good team speed for MUC, too.

I'm glad MUC won.  More to aim for next year ;D

Thanks, ROR, for hosting me today!!!

One last note:

Those refs sucked, BIG TIME.  Do they look for the biggest morons to ref big games, or what?

I would agree - the big difference in the game was the MUC secondary.  A great job of covering.  Garcon, while a very good player, does seem to be somewhat of a "showboat" at times.  I, too, hope that Coach Kehres will keep that somewhat under control in the future.  Overall, a good Stagg Bowl today and good effort by both teams.

1994, I remember it well.  I was in 8th grade.  Sartell won state that year.  Kubiak was probaly sporting a sweet mullet, too.

HA, wrong was sitting in Korea in the mud and dirt with a high and tight haircut ;)

Congrats to Kevin McNamara for making 3rd team All-American and Nick Gunderson for HM AM (as well as the other MIAC players to make it).  McNamara always seemed to be in the shadow of Hood, Dumonceaux and Gunderson--nice to see him be honored after a great senior year.  Gundy was one of 3 Sophs to be named (along with Kmic and someone I'd never heard of).  Two more years!!!

Where were Kleppe and Beaver today?

I watched the game with a handful of uncles who assumed the game would be high school-quality.  The first half, with the punts, turnovers, and miscues, kinda was.  I told them to keep an eye on Kleppe, which made me look like a retard.  The MUC line did a great job of keeping him contained.

Why didn't UWW ever double Garcon?  I understand that you need to respect Michelli's ability to run, but if you are leaving a playmaker like Garcon open all day long he has no choice but to pass it to him.

I turned the game on during that final touchdown drive for MUC and got to see the unecessary leap into the endzone.  I thought it might have drawn a flag.  You're right, normally you don't see that kind of stuff out of MUC, but there's no doubt about it.  They are dominant.  Seeing that result last night made me cherish the win in '03 even more!(if that's possible)

Yes, at least every third year! ;D

One more thing.  I thought the color guy was terrible.  I only saw the final 10 minutes of the game or so, but he sounded near-death and/or drunk.  I was glad I didn't have to listen to his incoherent ramblings the entire game.  If it were possible, I would have sworn he was the love-child of my least favorite commentators...McCarver, Walton,Theismann, and one of my favorites, Harry Caray.

Congrats raiderguy, your squad was the best team.

I am guessing you have a level 4 hangover this morning.  :D

I agree with Sir Duff, and a couple others that thought Garcon was overdoing pulling attention to himself.

Any squad that is good enough to win the Stagg is a totally talented team top to bottom. He doesn't make any plays without the rest of his teamates and should act that way.

And congrats to UW-Whitewater. Great 2 seasons and a great representative of the WIAC.

What was up with the exchanges between Jacobs and Beaver?  About 5 or 6 times that the exchange was fumbled/bobbled.  After 2 years of handoffs, I was very surprised that this occured.

It was just a matter of time before WW's punter got a kick blocked.  I have seen the videocasts in the playoffs and I noticed right away that he just takes too long to get kicks off.  I believe St John's tipped one of his punts.

As for WW, a lot of questions going into next year replacing players and coach(es).  However, I am sure they will have a great year next year.  They still have a lot of talent

As for Mount Union, I expect to see them in next year's Stagg Bowl.

Musta been nerves.... it woulda helped to have had a few of those bungles vs the Johnnies....  :o

Woody;  Commentator Mike Gottfried looks alright physically but you're correct he sounds as if he suffering from some type of debilitating disease.... too much contact prolly.

I was willing to look past his trailings as he was quite psyched about DIII saying he'd rather be at the Stagg Bowl than any other big time game.... maybe he did have a few before hand!  ;D

It was during the reign of  Caesar Gagliardius Augustus that a star of great brilliance appeared in the East. (Over Hudson WI High School to be exact.)  Nowhere was this star more keenly visible than from a vantage point in Arden Hills, MN. The wise men gathered there (they were reputed to be wise men among the Royal faithful, at any rate) looked upon the star with wonder, and though it was sacreligious to say so aloud, came to believe a savior for their program had been born, a King of the QB's. And so the three wise men--HC, OC, QBC--(and  one other, to make it four) journeyed to the East, one each day for four consecutive days to visit the newborn King in his crib, dude.  (Any more wise coaches and there would not have been room for them at the Inn.) They worshipped Him and sang his praises. They brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh for the child (but withheld them at the last moment, realizing that to do otherwise would be to violate NCAA rules). Now these Magi all dreamt a dream in which God spoke to them--not a particularly unusual event in their experience--saying,  Return home by a different route than that by which you came. (So Hwys 95, 36, and Snelling Ave replaced I-94 and 694 as they trekked westward.) Despire their dissimulations, word of their journeys and its purpose reached Caesar.  "What overkill...and foolishness," said the patriarch.  He thought for a moment and his competitive juices begn to flow. "If it's overkill that works, then we'll show them overkill.  Fetch my son, James Herod...."
