A woman's husband dies, leaving $50,000 to be used for an elaborate funeral.

After everything is done at the funeral home and  cemetery, she tells her
closest friend that "there is absolutely nothing left from the $50,000."

The friend asks, "How can that be?"

The widow says, "Well, the funeral cost was $7,500.  And of course I made a
donation to the church -- that was $500, and I spent another $2000 for the
wake, food and drinks -- you know. The rest went for the memorial stone".

The friend says, "$40,000 for the memorial stone? My God, how big is it?"

The widow says, "Four and a half carats".

That sounds about right! ;) ;D

I would have moved both Capital and St. John Fisher up and put UWW at 4th.
St. Johns at 5 is correct, IMHO.

I also think Bethel is better than 17, based on the SJU and UWL results.

So what does Santa have to bring John for the Johnnies to move up in '07?  ;D
The older the violin - the sweeter the music!

A chance to replay the Bethel game, perhaps.

Mount Union didn't even have to throw the ball to beat Capital and St. John Fisher. They needed to pull out all the stops to beat UWW.

A running game and a QB with some charisma.

Kinda like we have our own Rex Grossman at SJU, sometimes good and sometimes bad and lots in the middle. :)

The last time Alex played anywhere near Grossmanesqe was St. Olaf in 2004.

Alex is a great d3 quarterback.  Where do you think we would have finished without him?  Top 10?  I don't think so.  Top 25? Maybe.

Alex has the ability.  He lacks the charism, the leadership.  He never seems to take control of the offense and lead them.  He seems too unemotional.

Tom Linneman, while he was far from perfect, brought a total air of confidence to the huddle.  He was the captain.

That, is my beef with Kofoed.

And I think we'd be fine without him.  How many times in the past 10 years has SJU not finished in the top ten?  Linneman, Keating, Denne, Kofoed; great players are replacable.

Well well well, so I go to get the mail today and I have a package.  It is packaged really tight and is about 18" high and squishy.  I am thinking what the F.  So I finally get it open and much to my dismay it is an orange pylon from Collegeville circa 11-11-06.  Friends it appears that my buddy Dinny and notorious antagonist Willy Wonka stole it from the south endzone as the game ended.  Well it now has a used game ticket attached to it and the words "MIAC TITLE GAME" BETHEL 28 ST. JOHN'S 13 11-11-2006.  Very clever fellas.  Also attached is a rather long poem/story crafted by the senders.  Pictures will be posted on Weds night before the trip to Lambeau...

Maybe you're onto something Duffman... either that or you're on something!

You're right about Alex's emotion though, I've never really witnessed him getting overly excited however he seems clear and confident in his radio interviews.  I've also never been in the huddle with him, but I do think that's something we should think about.

Think of it now.... we could get approval for you and Wooderson to enter the huddle to record notes for the radio broadcast and for Frank's blog.  ;D

DustySJU: How is the launch of the "website" coming?  Keep me posted.  I have prime material for my first column....

Oh and I think it is time for us to take over stiftungsfestivities.com.  It is currently being greatly neglected.  I know Adam is busy with a variety of other things, but I'd like to see it get some tender love and care.  I've tried to contact OAS during the playoffs with no response (only in game text messages from various locales).

Guilty and happy!

Maybe if those pesky rent-a-cops weren't so busy picking up Ritz's empty beer cans from the track the pylon would be safely packed away for next year  ;D
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.
